HiMedia Q10 Pro, Q5 Pro / Re: Directv Now streaming app for Q10 Pro
« on: April 04, 2018, 02:15:17 AM »
I found a new version of the app and it now installs and plays live tv.  II found this link on the Nvidia Shield TV forums.  There is a screen format issue that I haven't sorted out yet, perhaps related to the shield tv..  There is a banner at the bottom that would normally go away once you start watching a channel.  It remains at the bottom, but you can still watch live tv.  I tried both 1080p and 2160p, same result.

I no longer get a Location error, so that is fixed.  So for now,  will hold off on moving to the custom fw.

Go here if you want to try this app https://www.sendspace.com/file/uuczkr

Has anyone tried the DirecTV Now app with this custom fw?  I tried this app with the official fw and I get a Location error.  Before I wipe my box again and install this custom fw, I'd like to know if anyone has this working.  Thanks!

I haven't tried Custom in a long time.  Would I need to wipe everything out using paper clip and have to install everything again?

When will we be able to update OTA via the menu, and avoid paper clip and wiping all my settings  out?

After some effort, I have completed the 2.0.7 firmware upgrade.  It was a royal pain to have to reconfigure and reinstall my apps.  I hope I don't have to do that again, ever!

When will we be able to just update OTA and retain our config and apps?  Or at least have a simple way to backup everything and restore apps, network config, mount points.    I know there is a way root and backup some stuff, but that is all manual and a pain too.   We need simple buttons in Settings please.

How do I get the Netflix app back?

Netflix removed their app from Play Store on most Android devices. It can be downloaded from here: https://www.apkmirror.com/apk/netflix-inc/ The latest version works fine.

Cool - thank you!

Now if we can get support on the resolution changing back to 1080p  ;D

I have the Q10 Pro running Android 7 with 2.07.  I had a issue with the Netflix app so I uninstalled it.  When I went back to the Google Play store to install again, it's no longer listed as a option.  Not even search finds it.

How do I get the Netflix app back?

Another issue is I set the Display resolution to 2160p 60hz and all is good.  When I restart the Q10, the resolution SOMETIMES goes back to 1080p and sometimes it stays at 2160p.  I want it to stay at 2160p.  Is this a bug?

HiMedia Q10 Pro, Q5 Pro / Directv Now streaming app for Q10 Pro
« on: March 26, 2018, 02:19:26 AM »
I'm unable to find a working Directv Now app for my Q10 Pro.  I've tried the one int he Google Play store, but it prompts me to turn on Location.  of course I do that and it still does not work, just will not play back Live tv  The Guide works fine.  I've even tried the FireTV versions, same result, they prompt me to enable Location and Refresh.

I think On Demand will work, but not Live.

I have the latest Offical Q10 Pro build, Android 7 and 2.07

Can anyone confirm this solution (Titanium) is working good with fw 2.0.1+ and Android 7?

I'm on 2.0.0 and want to upgrade to the latest.  I also use nova launcher, which backs up some stuff but I was hoping this solution would backup the apps so I don't have to keep installing them each time I upgrade fw.

HiMedia Q10 Pro, Q5 Pro / Recommendations for Backup app
« on: February 06, 2017, 03:30:55 PM »
I have the Q10 Pro and I'm using the nova launcher.  Each time I want to try a new firwmware, I have to use paper clip and wipe all data /  apps requiring me to install everything again.  Nova backs up my nova settings, like how my home screen looks, etc. but all apps have to be installed again.

is there a better way?  I've tried to find a app that will truly back up everything, but no luck so far.

Or is it best to just wipe and reinstall each time?  At some point the fw will be solid and we should be able to use OTA updates, but that isn't any time soon.

Interesting, thanks for sharing.  I'm on 2.0.0 and close to upgrading to 2.0.1 (looking for a better way to backup all installed apps so I don't have to keep re-installing everything I want).

The 2.0.1 Fix Llist slows the samba slow speed fix item number 3.

This needs to be reported so they can remove the false claim on the Fix List and add  the real fix to the next fw release.

Worked great for me now getting 80MB/s was about 25 before patch

What fw are you using?  With the lastest, you should not need this patch anymore.

I Just finished updating to 2.0.1 custom FW. This time I had a backup of my installed apps. Everything went fine. One happy user right here :)

How did you backup your apps?  I have to reinstall every time I upgrade using paper clip.  Basically, I have to map drives, install apps - and customize.  Would be cool if there was a full backup that restored all installed applications.
