Hi Futeko, you forgot the File-Extansion (*.zip) for the Step 1 Download.
Thanks. It will be fixed within a couple of minutes..
-
You can still extract from it using 7zip or whatever; it wouldn't hurt to have the propper extension to avoid any confusion, but it's not a problem.
-
It was easy to fix.
Download links have now been added for both the migration firmware and the 2.0.0 version Android 7 firmware.
-
Thank You! Thank You!
-
Is the 3D ISO microstuttering problem fixed in this firmware?
-
after upgrade to Android 7, it is possible to roll back to android 5.1 ?
-
Are we supposed to update kodi from playstore or stick with the one that is in the firmware ?
-
Are we supposed to update kodi from playstore or stick with the one that is in the firmware ?
The pre-installed version is latest final 16.1.
Play Store may indicate that it's version is an update but in fact it's the same.
So it makes no difference at this stage whether you run pre-installed 16.1 or Play Store 16.1. Personally I'd wait until Kodi 17 is in Play Store and update to that. Or try Kodi 17 beta. It's quite stable and runs well on Q5/Q10 Pro with wrapper.
-
Thanks for the advice, I'll wait for final 17; I already started to set it up and I guess I'll have to do that again after an update.
-

Yes, it was possible with the beta, it should be possible with this version. I see that the link for the downgrade is not there in the beta firmware topic. I think this version should be better at least from Android's perspective. There should not be any downgrade. Maybe someone else has that link for the downgrade firmware.

HELP PLEASE!!! :o
I am trying to update to firmware 2.0 without success. Currently I have the custom firmware 1.08 made by Pcristi, and I have tried several tiemes with the first step, I can manage to go until it shows the android green logo but it only last about 5 seconds and there is no line progress, then it boots much slower than before taking about 2-3 minutes and I still have the custom firmware 1.08, only that now everything is really slow. No matter what I do. I have even done a factory reset and started over again.
Another issue is that I can only make the Q10 boot and go to the Android recovery logo if I pull out the charger cable and then stick in again with the reset buttom pressed otherwise it doesn't turn on!
edit: I also have tried with 2 different FAT32 formatted pen drives (up to now never had any problems updating the firmware for Q10, this would be my 4th upgrade)

I am also using PCristi's firmware 1.0.8. How are you trying to update to Nougat? Are you updating from within the OS or are you following the instructions (using the reset pin)?
-
i have a pay iptv work well in android 5.1, currently they can't confirm the apk will work with android 7

Just s I explained I am following the instructions step by step.
What I will try is to go back to official (not custom) firmware 1.08 and if I succeed , then I will upgrade from there.
-
-
Here are my 2 cents:
1. If you have CUSTOM firmware (1.08 or earlier) installed you should FIRST go backup to official Firmware of the same level before upgrading to android 7 Firmware 2.0, it is based on my own experience, I could not upgrade until I went back to the official one.
2. Clock does not show the correct hour even after correcting your time zone, you have to reboot to fix this.
3. Switching back to HDR AUTO from SDR results in blank screen, I had to reboot and apply the change again, (I had to to choose SDR to be able to switch off imprex engine and all it's settings and correct my contrast-brightness etc options.
4. Sound seems to be working well, I tried different files and 7.1 DOLBY ATMOS and DTS:X are working fine, in fact, I think it is richer somehow
5. Picture quality seems more or less the same, but more sensitive to brightness and contrast: Before upgrading I had 51 in brightness and 54 in contrast and they seem to bright now with a bit washed away background.
I still have to try KODI. I haven't had time yet but will post my experience later.
-
Could not access settings (button) on some Apps.
Will revert to old firmware 1.07/1.08 (I need those).
Will the same procedure still valid once you installed v2. 00? Waiting for Instructions.
Oh, HiMedia wrapper is not activated on Kodi. Need to set it manually.
-
Oh man....so that means a lot of Bugs again? :(
-
My 2 cents - Part II. :
1. Kodi is working well and for the first time I can play movies within Kodi with 7.1 sound, including DOLBY ATMOS and DTS:X, I hope that when we finally upgrade to KODI 17.0 it will even be better
2. HDR is working OK , I tested it with different files and refresh rates.
3. Again image is too bright by default in general, I had to lower brightness to 49 and contrast up to 53 to find it suitable for my TV, but again this should vary depending on each one's setup.
4. After changing several settings and rebooting now it is OK to change HDR to SDR and back and there is no blank screen,
I still have to try and see if HDMI CEC issues are solved.

Can you clarify what you mean about the settings button?
Downgrade for Q10 Pro is the same as for 2.0.0 beta version. We will update the opening post of this thread with download and guide tomorrow morning. My advice if you want to downgrade is to wait until we publish the guide tomorrow.
There is no downgrade firmware for Q5 Pro yet, that will come tomorrow.
-
Thanks all for posting feedback.
Anything that needs a reply we will reply tomorrow.
All bug reports and feedback will be collated and reported back to HiMedia.
-
Please ask HiMedia to add an app or similar function to reboot the device instead of shut down and restart.
"Sky Go" App finally works!!!
-
is it just me or is looun's Frequency Switcher no longer working with Android 7?
-
Yep will wait (to revert to old firmware)...
This is what I mean...The three (3) button icon to access settings on some programs...It isn't there.
It was corrected beginning 1.05?? Now it is not there again.

Good god!
THIS IS ANDROID 7 !!!
NOT ANDROID 5 !!!
OF COURSE IT IS NOT WORKING!

Hi I am thinking about installing and testing the new firmware. How about boottime, is the startup as fast as with firmware 5.1 ?
-
Upgrade was successful, but this firmware does not seem to recognize my BD/DVD-ROM drive, as the previous one did.
Please, could others also test it, to confirm this is a new bug ?
Regards.

Hi Henry,
First boot takes quite a while.
After that boot time is more or less the same as Android 5
-
After Android 7 upgrade, Kodi shows duplicate hard disks :(... Two SDA1,Two SDA2... you have also?
-
Yep mine too, Kodi displays two (2) SDA2
-
Yes, it does show the HDD twice. First impression is not so good.
The only good thing is that now, on WiFi, HBO Go is working. Boot time is just as with 5.1.1. Root seems to work as before. We have lost the possibility to disable the on-screen keyboard (if someone else knows how to do it, please post here). I still have to see memory consumption. It used to be quite laggy after a long period of time on Android 5.1.1.
-
Probably time to look around for a new player, intend to return to the popcorn hour, no android-no problem,I survive without KODI.

I have the update_Q10Pro_ (update & themed) _HMD-1.0.8 2016-10-12.193826 installed and OK !!!
I make the first step for Android 7 and just start ERROR ...
I try to put the Q10 PRO FIRMWARE. 1.0.8-FUTEKO-EN. HMD-1.0.8 2016-10-12.193826.zip and just start ERROR ...
Do what you do NOW, always mistake, nothing else begins ...
What do I do now?
P.D.: I was able to load the update_Q10Pro_ (update & transparent) _HMD-1.0.1 2016-03-22.170326.zip
-
Installed new firmware step 1 and step 2. Now, same problem as everyone else, have two of each hard drive showing sd1, sd2, sd3 & sd4 shows up twice in kodi. No way I can see to delete the duplicate drives, one will say no path found and the other will be OK.
Also, cannot add any drives or movies in Kodi in the add movies section of Videos. Anyone have the same problem.
Why is Himedia not checking their firmwares before releasing to the public. If we could find these problems in a few minutes, HiMedia should have caught them as well.
Very disappointed!

addon work and the system command is equal like "disptest setfmt 79" , there are some problem with permission.
-
OK, just unistalled Kodi 16 and installed latest Kodi 17 beta and everything's working fine now. At least for not showing duplicate hard drives :-)
-
is it just me or is looun's Frequency Switcher no longer working with Android 7?
same problem
-
-
Kodi has duplicate drive issues (as noted above) that don't disappear when "clean up" is completed (like it should). No idea why this has occurred within Kodi?
A minor flaw is I can not make the system boot straight into Kodi as I could under previous firmware (as per the FAQ). The "Menu" option no longer comes up with the remote for some reason. I do like it booting directly into Kodi as it then auto-updates my library (and makes it easy for the wife to use).
-
Dear Sir!!! Please change the version of latest android in "detailed specification"

hi frd, what ver fw can recognize BD/DVD-ROM drive on Q10 pro ?

Upgraded to the new Android (N) and the new F/W but my problem with Kodi still exist :
I 've attached 3 external disks to the device (with an internal HDD too).
Every time I start the machine and startup Kodi, the letters assigned to these attached USB drive's change : SDA, SDB, SDC, SDE etc..
I mean sda1 switch to sdd2, or sdb1 switch to sde2 etc.. And of course cannot play the movie (invalid path..)
Is there a way to fix it, because I cannot use Kodi!
This problem is the same on all Kodi versions (16.1 Jarvis, 17 Beta Krypton, also on SPMC).
Thanks.

Tried the new FW last night...
Pros:
Improvements in PQ.
UI experience.
Cons:
Sluggish!!
Some Apps have problems on Android 7
Suggestions:
Work the bugs on previous firmware.
Discovered it is an App problem...other applications are generally fine.
Could not access settings (button) on some Apps.
Will revert to old firmware 1.07/1.08 (I need those).

Can't get "Primitive FTPd" to work. That is to say can't get into the setup mode. It starts up with setup the first time but it can't be changed afterwards.
Samba Server works better than before as Windows applications now will work with it, despite disk space and free space still not being reported correctly.

Agree with you.
I thought it just seems to me, but with imprex off is excellent, finally. ;D
I am just disappointed that do not work well the settings in imprex engine, again.

Yes, I noticed the same thing. It is like the app does not show its whole interface. I do not have the upped part on Total Commander. I can confirm 100% the issue you have with Primitive FTPd. Maybe we will get an update soon enough.

After Android 7 upgrade, Kodi shows duplicate hard disks :(... Two SDA1,Two SDA2... you have also?
That and not being able to boot directly to KODI are dealbreakers for me.
I have a huge music library, would lose my library paths bc of this and would have to recreate it from scratch.
I'm gonna stay on Android 5.1 then.

I had the same problem, I also tried other FTP server apps and some of them allow you to configure the data: user/pw/server name/port but still are unreachable from my computer (Until FW 1.08 it worked like a charm)

-
One positive I found with this upgrade was that 7.1 TrueHD audio now works for me downmixed to stereo which it previously didn't. One small quirk I came across when using the official remote on certain circumstances when using the the down selection button initially the cursor actually moves up to the next selection rather than down then it corrects itself on the next click. I'm not sure if the following happened with the previous firmware or not but I find it annoying when pressing the selection button on the remote that you get a system click sound through the speakers each time.

Ah. By 'migration' we meant migrate from Android 5.1 to Android 7.
There is no way to get all apps back unless you've saved them to your Google account or used a third party backup app.
Kodi has a backup addon that is good for backing up your settings. http://kodi.wiki/view/backup
I will add something to the OP saying that apps and settings will be lost when updating.

Hi Futeko,
When will be ready the downgrade instructions to 5.1 ?
Thanks.
-
please, can somebody test Bluray 3D MVC ISO, is it working at 23.976fps now?
And autoframerate switch on 50/60hz Sources ?
-
please, can somebody test Bluray 3D MVC ISO, is it working at 23.976fps now?
No, it isn't.
23.976 fps plays as 24:
FrcInRate :23.97 | FrcOutRate :24.0
TV switches to 24Hz framepacking video mode:
Formt/DispMode :1080P24_FP/FPK
As shows disptest command that used to switch video mode there is no 3D mode with 23.976Hz:
FMT_1080P_24_FRAME_PACKING- 19
For example 2D 23.976Hz:
FMT_3840X2160_23_976 ---74
FMT_1080P_23_976 ------- 79
So no way switch TV to 3D@23.976 without modifying disptest command -> without modifying SDK.

Futeko,we need that SDK fix.
Any news?

And autoframerate switch on 50/60hz Sources ?
Autoframerateswitch for 1080@50 and 1080@60 file sourses works fine for me. For some IPTV streams himediaplatyer can not detect fps (fileinfo shows 0 fps) and does't switch.
-
Thanks :)
-

3D ISO at 23.976Hz needs an SDK update from HiSilicon.
The new firmware has a new SDK, but it dates from early August when HiMedia weren't aware of the 23.976 3D-ISO problem. The next HiSilicon SDK should fix it.

Ideally drives would be mounted according to drive label. e.g. /mnt/media_rw/DRIVELABEL/
Did small script for it. https://cloud.mail.ru/public/798J/pYnPvj1rz (https://cloud.mail.ru/public/798J/pYnPvj1rz)
Mounted disks (/mnt/media_rw/sda1 for example) are linked to /mnt/media_rw/disk-by-uuid/<uuid> and /mnt/media_rw/disk-by-label/<label> folders.
Restrictions:
1. It is provided "as is", without any garantee. I tested it on Q10 Pro, firmware HMD-2.0.0.
2. All disks have to be attached to box before boot. Hotplug does not supported.
3. Only first 4 mounted disks will be linked
4. For disk with multiple partions only first partition will be linked.
5. If disks has identical labels only first disk will be linked.
6. Wait about 2 min after boot. Master init script has delay before my script will be run.
Install and uninstal:
1. Download and unzip.
2. Run RUN_ME.bat, enter players ip-address, select action.
Thanks pcristi and looun.
Excellent work. Thanks. I've tested it and it works well.

Hi Futeko,
When will be ready the downgrade instructions to 5.1 ?
Thanks.
We're waiting on HiMedia finishing uploading the downgrade firmwares. There will be different downgrade firmwares for Q5 Pro and Q10 Pro.
I advise waiting for us to post these firmwares in the OP of this thread.
However, Q10 Pro can be downgraded using the downgrade firmware previously posted for Q10 Pro 2.0.0 beta FW (we have tested it). So if you're really desperate to downgrade and have a Q10 Pro use this: http://www.mediafire.com/file/ksubboeqaf665fb/Q10_PRO_RESTORE_ANDROID_5.1_AFTER_ANDROID_7_INSTALLATION.zip
-
Also verified write access to Internal HDD and SD-Card via an APP (Total Commander) and via SMB remote. Both worked flawless.
-
Anyone know when official firmware available on himediatech.com?

Can i install the new firmware even if i don't already dowload the previous 1.0.8-FUTEKO-EN. HMD-1.0.8 2016-10-17 firmware ?

Can i install the new firmware even if i don't already dowload the previous 1.0.8-FUTEKO-EN. HMD-1.0.8 2016-10-17 firmware ?
You can install it on any official Android 5.1 firmware. So all versions, 1.0.1 - 1.0.8.
There are some reports of not being able to install it on top of the CS custom firmwares, so best to install official 1.0.8 first if you're running custom fw.
-
I don't have any custom firmware install. Shall i first download the 1.0.8-FUTEKO-EN. HMD-1.0.8 2016-10-17 firmware and then proceed to upgrade to android 7 or is it included ?

DO NOT TRY AND FLASH IT TO CHINESE HARDWARE Q10 PRO OR OR PREVIOUS GENERATION Q10 4K3D.
How can I recognize the Chinese version or European? I bought in China, but with a european plug. I do not see any differences.

The strange "quirk" with FLAC 7.1 audio is persisting in new firmware. This has been noted previously in this forum:
* It passes FLAC 7.1 as stereo PCM when there is only one audio track.
* With two audio tracks it still passes correctly as 7.1 PCM.
I kept my 7.1 test files from the previous sessions used to confirm the quirk (one with 7.1 TrueHD, one with FLAC 7.1 and the 3rd with both 7.1 tracks).

Anybody difference between Himedia Q1- pro & Xtreamer eXpress

Anybody difference between Himedia Q1- pro & Xtreamer eXpress
Very different HW / SOC but very good looking, sturdy and well cooled boxes both. Q 10 Pro has the front panel and display as an extra and eXpress has USB-3c and HDMI-IN for those who appreciate that. Anxious to lay my hands on one of those; delayed, delayed and more delayed but will come for sure finally. Should be moved into the "other media players" section not here.

Worse the music player (now indeed working with a mouse) also still switches between PCM and RAW HDMI output depending on the source being SQ audio or HQ audio.

Somebody reported double reporting devices. It in fact is worse using 5 HDD's attached got 15 being reported hence triple reporting. This is a very serious flaw.
-
Said before...better work out the bugs on the previous firmware and use it...
Its like XP going Vista or Win7 going to 8.
-
The only big issue for me is the memory leak I encounter on Lollipop. I keep my box on all the time for seeding torrents and it is quite visible after a while. Other than that, previous firmware was quite good. This double/triple reporting for devices is also quite bad, although I managed to get past it.
-
The multiple mount point location for storage will be fixed. HiMedia are aware of it. It's more an annoyance than anything. Drives are mounted at /mnt/media_rw/ so use that location in apps and all will be OK.
-
I suppose there is a new wrapper after the upgrade.
Now I'm using the altered one to get the IPTV stream by default to the internal Kodi player, HiMedia can't play those.
Does this same altered playercorefactory.xml file works after the upgrade?

Downgrade to Android 5.1 instructions and download added to post#2 of this thread.

I think it will. Kodi and wrapper app name haven't changed.

Installed. :)
Everything went fine.
I was on CS 1.08 firmware and, as suggested, i've installed first the official 1.08 firm and then the others.
As reported bluetooth switch itself on, every reboot.
Same old bug with discolored subtitle if you use yellow (my favourite). :(
With EZ pro (file explorer) I can't find the internal HDD. I found sda2 but it results empty (which is not).
I haven't tested yet if there is the old bug about resolution switch itself to 1080i (from 2160P) after reboot.
Testing...

Hello!
Is DVD auto switch from 25 to 50 and 30 to 60 fps still not working?!
Did someone test this yet?
Thanks!

Will future upgrades work OTA again if you did this one manually, so default without loosing all info etc.

One other thing I noticed is that the on-screen keyboard is still present when the physical keyboard is connected (even though in settings the on-screen keyboard is disabled when the physical keyboard is connected). I think the real issue is that my wireless keyboard with touchpad is not detected properly. On previous firmware I could see 2 input devices detected (one keyboard and one mouse). My keyboard is a Microsoft All-In-One with touchpad. Thank you for making HiMedia aware of these issues.

Would be great if it can be solved. I Also have this type of keyboard (MS All-in-One) and it's very annoying. Howerver I still use the 1.0.7 fw, and the problem is also present.

Did you format it before on a PC? If you're letting the box format it, it is very likely that a PC would not recognize it. Please format it as NTFS (probably) if you're using Windows or to EXT4 (check it the box recognizes it as EXT4).

I did not have this issue with 1.0.8. The workaround is to select virtual Android keyboard as input and the on-screen keyboard will disappear.

So..I downgraded to 1.08
Music is back, Video is back (although I like the PQ of 2.00/Android 7).
But atleast , almost everything is running...
EDIT:
Will change again to 1.07. The apps UAPP or HibyMusic will remain in memory/or will not release USB Audio bandwidth to other apps after exiting. Thus apps like Kodi will not play audio. With 1.07 it works fine.

DVD jumps to 50 hz, how can risolver?

android 7 + kodi 17 the DVD format in cartalla start crushing on the poster, before were leaving only if the DVDs were in iso format

same here , i downgraded to 1.0.8....
honestly, the video playback using himedia videoplayer is really good and witnessed a noticeable improvement as compared to 1.0.8. the video playback is vivid and crisp. yet , noticed some minor artifacts on some objects edges. Regarding , kodi 16.1 , there is some weird stutter for about a minute on every 1080p mkv video file , but after that it gets super smooth....
-
Ok, I've tested the resolution bug and something it's changed...now it doesn't switch from 2160p to 1080i , it switch itself to 720p.

Worst thing for me: NO Android TV, simple Smarthpone version.
New update is full of bugs.
In the smartphone version you can't use device without air mouse, shame you Himedia and give us TV version.
-
Android TV (for now 6.0) in the media box: Xtreamer eXpress
I'm waiting for the package with this box, it's newest device on the market ;)
I've got now another (very simple) media player: Roku TV (version 2016). Roku is extremly fast and has got superb UI, but... without android and with not many apps.
HiMedia without Android TV can't give us 100% satisfaction:
- smartphone version of apps - we need airmouse
- no mirroring from smartphone/tablet
- can't play Spotify from my phone (Spotify Connect)
- can't play (remote) Youtube from smarthopne/tablet
- can't mirror my desktop PC
- etc...
-
@mikemat Let me know when Xtreamer eXpress will arrives. I'm curious. ;)

Xtreamer is the worst company I've had the displeasure of dealing with. EXTREMELY poor support, forums full of people complaining, admins who ban on sight and the list goes on.
I had the Xtreamer 4K. I don't care how "good" the Xpress looks on paper, I'd rather use my decade old WD Live than go back to Xtreamer.
-
ok - Xtreamar wasn't got example, but Nvidia Shield has got Android TV.
I think about UX when you use services (Netflix, Spotify etc). It's very comfortable when you can use normal/simple remote without airmouse to change subtitle, audio, rewind forward, ... on the Netflix and any other app with TV version.
I was bought q10 PRO because is best media player (hadware), but software is worse compare to media player/TV with Android TV.
Futeko - is any possibility that Himedia make Android TV version ?
-
I agree, an Android TV based firmware would be the cherry on the cake with the Q10. How hard would it be to develop such a firmware for it?
What about custom firmwares? Would this be possible?
-
Hello,
installed the new Android N and firmware, then installed kodi 17 beta 5.
In kodi films do not start with wrapper and closes kodi.
With kodi videoplayer films start but no audio at all, no dts, no DD 5.1 nothing.
Went back to kodi 16 and everything is playing smoothly again!
Marco
-
That other TV box looks indeed better on paper. If HiMedia can achieve that, it would be actually great. It would also mean that they would have to use Android 6.0 or really optimize the hell of the current release.
-
If I were working at HiMedia, I would actually consider going back to Android 6. I do not need Android 7 on my TV box just because it sounds cool. I really, really, really do not want to consider the other TV box, especially since I like the design of the Q10 Pro and the fact that I can get real answers here on this forum.
-
And fix stuttering and judder once and for all!
I dont have it....

I've got problem with DVD ISO, when i want play next track, player jump to next DVD ISO folder not to the next track.
Have you got that issue too ?

Can someone confirm that with this fw Total Commander is missing a part of it controll area on screen?
Another confirmation request would be according the lates Winamp version, if it works fine or not?!
In previous fw-s the music playback was really "lame" for my taste, with both HiPlayer and KODI (a bit better in KODI, after changing a bunch of sound and music settings), I mean much duller and harsher even compared to my notebooks Realtek on-board soundcard. (Only with Winamp could I get a much better sound from it.) Any experience if this may have been refined in the new fw?!
Thanks!
Edit.: My question is triggered by that theres a promising mention from some sound quality inproovements is the changelog... ???
-
@Mount81: yes, Total Commander is missing a part of its screen in the upper part. There are other apps with the same issue. I think HiMedia is notified of the issue.
-
And fix stuttering and judder once and for all!
I dont have it....
Depends which file you play.
probably...i am playing-mkv,bdmv,bluray iso(2d 3d) only(30-60gb every movie)..all 1080p with high bitrate...no problems here.
Some says 3d iso 23-24fps have problem,i dont see it! 65" TV.
-
USB data port is not working, when I plug into PC, my PC can't recognize HDD inside the box
Anyone experience the same issue? This port does not work with my NAS anymore in this version.

http://forum.xtreamer.net/topic/40467-xtreamer-express-pre-release-qa/page__st__120
Lol!! As I said, Xtreamer is a pathetic company who has ZERO customer support. People aren't receiving their media players, have ZERO replies to their questions, emails and aren't even able to cancel their orders!
Like I said, STAY AWAY from that company.
Futeko is leagues ahead others in this respect. Even if there are still bugs to iron out in the latest firmwares, at least we get replies from the admin and have an active community here.

Yes is a known problem. Has been reported together with several other DVD ISO issues.

I have been asked to report here a new bug according the MS All-in-One keyboard (HUN layout): The keyboard won't appear as physical keyboard under the keyboard settings menu and theres no option to select properly the hungarian language, and it won't even detect (type) the hungarian caracters at all. All this was OK with the 1.0.7 fw.
Please report this issue towards Himedia, thank you!

1. With my q10pro on 2.0.0 the network connection both of Ethernet and WiFi don't get IP from DHCP. I have to set ip static.
2.Es File explorer latest version don't show SD card, External drive, HDD like before but this problem i thing it because ES file explorer still don't fully support Android 7.0.
3. Kodi 16.1(and below) show drive(like sda1,sdb1 etc.) double. But with Kodi 17 it show drive Label same as Windows and not double it which I really like. I think this problem happen because Kodi 16.1(and below) don't support Android 7.0 structure.
My major problem is no. 1, I don't know that someone else have this problem like me or not but if they have can you fix it.
Thank you very much.

How to hide navigation bar permanently In fw 2.0 ?
-
"i have a problem with IR Remote
combo does not work (for example, quickly press Right-Right-Enter, and Enter did not work). if slow press, all work.
downgraded to 1.08, and IR Remote work perfect.
it's fw bug or anything else?"
This was reported on the Q5.
I think I have the same problem. I thought the batteries on my remote were dying but even after replacing them, I can definitely feel that the remote is much less responsive on the new firmware. Like I have to "hard press" on any button now to get it to work
-
@nick81: you are not the only one that noticed this with the remote. I thought it just seemed to be slower. I bought the batteries a week ago, so this is not the issue. Sometimes it does not capture some commands from the remote or it just drops some of them, if they are coming too fast. If I wait about a second the remote is working properly.
-
I agree that the IR remote is more twitchy, especially in launcher menus and Himediaplayer. It's usable but definitely different to 1.0.8.
This will be fed back to Himedia.
-
I noticed that the remote is less responsive, both the original one and the rii 25. The air mouse is smoother now, but many times I have to press twice to register any commands. I guess the os is putting the receiver to sleep to fast, needing an extra click to wake up first, but I could be wrong.
-
I have no chance to switch my Keyboard layout to german (QWERTZ).
I select it in the menue of the original keyboard, but when i want to write something it switch the y/z-letters, with the App "Swift Key" the same.
Is it an already known bug?
-
I agree that the IR remote is more twitchy, especially in launcher menus and Himediaplayer. It's usable but definitely different to 1.0.8.
Seems a buffering problem to me. When pressing fast multiple times these keys should be buffered/queued and executed one by one (mostly perceived as instant reaction). It seems it goes wrong here?
-
No words on imprex...how does it work on nougat and 2.0.0?
PQ?
Thanks!

I haven't got a German layout keyboard to test with, but go:
Settings - More - Languages & input - Language. Add Deutsch.
then
Settings - More - Languages & input - Current keyboard. Select German.
That seems like it should work. Does it?

Thank you for the continued development of the Q5/10 pro, however, I have noticed 2 new issues since updating to android 7.
The first is that my Q10 does not remember my bluetooth remote (Rii i8+) after booting and I have to manually scan and connect every time the media player is booted.
Secondly, in Kodi V17 beta 6, I am unable to play a second file. The first time I play a movie after booting it works, however, when attempting to play a second file it either continues playing the first file or it only shows the message "Click ok when playback has ended". Removing the wrapper fixes this but at the expense of no pass through audio. Rolling back to Kodi V16.1 fixes the issue for local media but not for network media.

Hi. I just received my Q10 Pro and I've updated the firmware from
5.1.1. 3.18.24 HMD-1.0.6 2016-07-07.151525 too
5.1.1. 3.18.24 HMD-1.0.8 2016-10-12.193826
Then I used this thread to upgrade via the 1st upgrade step too
7.0. 3.18.24 HMD-2.0.0 2016-11-17.184554
and via the 2nd step too
7.0. 3.18.24 HMD-2.0.0 2016-11-17.181855
If I look at the numbers it looks like the firmware after the 2nd upgrade step is lower than after the 1st upgrade step (181855 vs 184554).
Is this correct?
I assumed the firmware number would be higher after the 2nd upgrade step, so something like .185678 (anything higher than .184554).
And as a side note, I upgraded via the menu, so not with the Q10 Pro turned off.
It worked fine. Why does the start post only mentions the upgrade when it's turned off?
Did I do something wrong or is the method that I used also ok?
PS. Keep up the good work!!
-
(181855 vs 184554) --> this time of creating build 18:18:55 vs 18:45:54, is not changing apply like Samsung device.
Firmware for 1st steps are just build after they build update firmware 2nd step, witch is logic point too.
Easy to track firmware with bigger size(~660 MB) is for 1st step and smaller(~581 MB) is for 2nd step.
If I look at the numbers it looks like the firmware after the 2nd upgrade step is lower than after the 1st upgrade step (181855 vs 184554).

Now I have trouble when I see movies through lan, it disappears audio and video signal from 10 to 10 minutes by Kodi and media center. :-\
-
Also, did it ever happened to you that not all subtitle lines to be displayed? >:(
-
The new gui sounds are incredibly annoying.
Why is there no option to turn them off??
Especially when using the YouTube app, the constant noises while navigating are unbearable.
Also - the play/pause button does not work anymore in apps like YouTube.
-
I have some questions regarding the Imprex in the new fw:
Is it solved to turn off COMPLETLY the Imprex engine?
And is is it possible to turn off the 2 Noise Reduction filters seperately? (They had still a very noticable "cosmetics" effect, even with the lowest (or OFF) settings on the PQ in the 1.0.7 fw, mutch more stronger than it was in the 1.0.5 fw.)
Thanks!

Hi. I've installed a new 8TB internal harddisk in my new Q10 Pro.
I connect via USB the Q10 and my pc, but my pc won't recognize the harddisk, so I can't format it.
Any idea's what to do?
Btw, I've used the usb3.0 (square one) on the back of the Q10 Pro, should I use the usb from the side?
Strange thing is, that in Device Manager it does show up. But from there I can't do anything......?
When I click on it and go to Tab Events I see this:

The new gui sounds are incredibly annoying.
Why is there no option to turn them off??
Especially when using the YouTube app, the constant noises while navigating are unbearable.
Also - the play/pause button does not work anymore in apps like YouTube.
I think Himedia needs to have an option to turn off notification sound.
-
@Namoh: you should format it on a PC (probably NTFS, this is how I formatted my internal HDD) and then connect it via side USB port. The square one near the HDMI port is for USB OTG most likely.
@haovh_85: I think that sound can be turned off in settings. You should be able to select None as the sound. I am not so annoyed by it, since I want to know when the unit recognized my remote, because the remote seems a little laggy on the latest firmware.

Do I need to connect the internal harddisk itself in my pc?
I thought I could put it in my Q10 pro, connect the Q10 pro to my PC (via usb) and format it from there.
Am I wrong?

Well, I do not think that the PC will see the Q10 Pro as a storage device. Did you actually manage to have it visible on the PC this way? You only have to connect it to a PC once. Be careful to shutdown the PC after formatting it if you connect it with a SATA cable.

I will check again probably this weekend. Thanks.
I tried to play TimeScapes (2012) but I only get sound, no video.
Does anyone know if the Q10 Pro can handle the cineform codec?
And if it doesn't, if it will be supported via a firmware update?

Format the external HDD by using powered HDD Adapter

According my previous readings on this Forum it should be possible to format the HDD inside the Q10 Pro and connected to the PC with an USB OTG cable. Otherwise what else would explain that it has an OTG port specially for connection with a PC?! Futeko should be more informative and reactive according the questions...
Edit: Here you go, off course it can be formatted: http://www.futeko.com/newforum/index.php?topic=932.0 (http://www.futeko.com/newforum/index.php?topic=932.0)

Have to say that that guide didn;t work for me! My computer never recognised the HDD inside the Q10 Pro until I formatted it via the computer
I had to buy a powered HDD adapter and then connect it to my laptop and then format it in the way described in the guide.
Once done, popped it back inside the Q10 and it was instantly recognized!

Don't know for sure if it could be the reason, but did you have the Q10 Pro plugged in it's AC adapter after placed the HDD and plugged with the OTG cable to the PC?!
Edit.: Ok, I higlighted the importent part of the post, for better catch.

I used the OTG cable connected to the Q10 and to the PC but nothing showed up. Not even as an external HDD. Bought a powered HDD adapter and got it formatted that way and then the Q10 recognised it straight away.

I thought I could put it in my Q10 pro, connect the Q10 pro to my PC (via usb) and format it from there.

I had the same issue. It is insane that Himedia cannot format the drive itself from within the player. Super annoying for MAC users.

It's strange, according the linked tutorial it should work. Or it worked and just somehow loosed this ability? ??? It won't be even a fw related change, because you don't even need to turn on the Q10 Pro for this... Haven't tried myself so far, but it will be good to know for sure. Futeko can you clarify pls?!

NO, the Internal HDD needs to be SATA attached when formatted using Windows.
When attached as USB3-Slave the communication runs via an USB/ATA bridge which gives slightly different characteristics which Android does not like.
Agreed that an internal format utility would be nice. For MAC users I recommend using EXT4 which works also just fine (probably even better).

Ok, so that whole "tutorial" is not quite accurate... Being myself missleaded as it appeared to work from any instances at first sight.

It will work under Windows, but Android versions are not really flexible with NTFS settings and may or may not work correctly. Have seen the same using another platform to format NTFS. I am very sure that doing it via SATA with Windows 7/8/10 always works. Never came to an exception with any brand/product/FW used. So if you want to play it safe...

Why this firmware does not appear in the official fw page of himediatech? Is it because it is considered a beta fw?

No. It's because the upgrade process requires two firmware installs in sequence.
I don't know how HiMedia are going to handle this on their support page.
-
Well they seem to be thinking really hard about it , one would think that after a month they would know how to handle this firmware upgrade. ::)

1. With my q10pro on 2.0.0 the network connection both of Ethernet and WiFi don't get IP from DHCP. I have to set ip static.
No I don't have this myself using Wired, but I believe others reported it too.
2.Es File explorer latest version don't show SD card, External drive, HDD like before but this problem i thing it because ES file explorer still don't fully support Android 7.0.
yes, this is known. Use Total Commander (the latest Beta4) which works just fine for all devices Internal and External (Android refers to Internal and Portable)
3. Kodi 16.1(and below) show drive(like sda1,sdb1 etc.) double. But with Kodi 17 it show drive Label same as Windows and not double it which I really like. I think this problem happen because Kodi 16.1(and below) don't support Android 7.0 structure.
Known bug, I have seen even triplications and not restricted to KODI, this is a serious OS related bug
My major problem is no. 1, I don't know that someone else have this problem like me or not but if they have can you fix it.
Thank you very much.
-
I have no idea what is causing your number 1 problem. You tried a full re-install? That is the only thing next to checking that your DHCP is working on your router.
-
Yes, i retray a full upgrade but unfortunatly only static IP works. I have the same problem as EddYTG (29/11/2016)
-
Try assigning an IP based on the physical address (MAC). I did not have any issues and I did a lot of tweaking. Or maybe this is the issue, maybe you need to check your DHCP on how it assigns IPs.
-
Hello everyone.
I did the updated from 5 to 7, and everything installed correctly, but I noticed that the recent apps functionality doesn't work. The button does nothing.
Have anyone else encountered the issue? Can it be fixed ?
-
@DSpawn: the recent apps not working is a known issue. HiMedia is aware of it, as far as I know.

Thanks for clearing that out ;)

I upgraded the firmware and everything works well except for two "issues":
1. In Netflix, when I hit the back button in the middle of a show (to go back to previous menu), it crashes and pops up a notification if I want to open app again or send feedback to Netflix. It only crashes when I hit the back button during a show, otherwise there are no issues with running Netflix. It used to run fine without any crashes in the previous firmware.
2. The black menu bar at the bottom has a square button which used to bring up "open apps" in the previous firmware version. Now it doesn't do anything. I like the option of bringing up open apps and manually closing them one-by-one (unless there's another way to do it). It's an OCD thing. That's the only reason why I keep the black menu bar. (Does installing a 3rd party launcher like Nova give that option?)
Appreciate feedback on this.

I think Futeko needs to clarify this: because by my experience that icon is used to bring up the "Recently Opened" app list and NOT the the "Still Open" app list. So even if you see an app that is still running on the list, X-ing it out won't close it, just removes it from the "Recently" list... Am i right Futeko?!

yes, same problem.
how to close open applications?
-
how to close open applications?
On Android 7 you need root to kill applications via another application (like from 3rd party task manager).
So you need to use the intended way:
1. Go to android setting
2. Apps
3. Select app you want to kill
4. Force Stop
or
1. Go to android setting
2. Memory
3. Memory used by apps
4. Select app you want to kill
5. Click menu button
6. Force Stop
-
Annoying bug: since this firmware I need to press the OK button on the remote multiple times to get the OK action in several cases. Problem occurs mostly in the android setting menu.
-
When will there be an OTA update?
I'm still on HMD-1.08 2016-10-12.193826
-
1.08 fw is android 5.1, I doubt that you can get from that to android 7 fw via OTA update; you need to flash first an intermediate firmware and after that flash the android 7 fw; see first post for details and instructions.
For smaller updates like from 1.08 to 1.09 OTA should work, but I never got a chance to try.
-
Hi,
The 2 steps upgrade process worked fine but I couldn't sign into a google account and install apps an so on. I've tried also with the custom build and had the same problem. So at the end, I restored the 5.1 and everything went right. Thanks for giving the possibility to downgrade. I'll try later when another version will be available to upgrade to 7. But I've wasted more than half a day for nothing!
-
That's weird, I installed about 3 times the 2.0 fw and had no issues with login to Google account. Try not to use the on-screen keyboard, plug in a USB one just for the login. I had some issues on phones, it would not input the correct password no matter how carefully i was typing until I changed the keyboard app.

on this firmware with android 7, can I uninstall the Kodi 16.1 completely and instal the latest Kodi 17.0 RC2....since that has native HD audio passthrough, there should be no need for wrapper on it ?
-
You can; I have it but no dts from kodi for me. If you manage to get passthrough from kodi 17 please share your settings.
edit:
you can install and use SPMC if you want 17 and 16 installed at the same time on the box
-
Are you in Android 7 firmware with Kodi 17 and still you don't see DTS passthrough option in audio settings ?

HD audio passthrough is broken on Android Kodi 17 for all platforms. It's a Kodi problem.
-
Are you in Android 7 firmware with Kodi 17 and still you don't see DTS passthrough option in audio settings ?
I have the optiom, it's enabled but it doesn't output the sound; I have to disable the passthrough and settle for 2.0 audio. Tested with local files (lan) and capable receiver.

-
I have just uninstalled the Wrapper to test Kodi 17 and passthrough and on my setup it isn't working, reinstalled Wrapper and it is fine.
-
HiMedia are looking at why it isn't working. Q5/Q10 Pro Android 7 FW meets the requirements so it should in theory work.
-

I tested this, just to get subtitles to work, but pass through of multichannel audio audio doesn't work.
So basically I just confirm the observation :-)

As of today (1/10/2017), soon after starting my Q10 Pro, I get the popup message "Himedia Package installer has stopped". I then have to click "Close app" to make this message go away. I am running firmware 2.0.0 on Android 7. To exclude the possibility of a corrupted file, I reinstalled this firmware, using the upgrade button. The message still keeps popping up after every boot. Any suggestions about what could be going on here?
Edit: It is now eight hours later and the error message does not pop up anymore after a boot. I suppose that in the meantime some faulty background update package for the OS or for some default app must have been retracted or replaced...

This and the unwanted, mysterious OTA update message issue and the new thread according that annoying Chinese Himedia TV app, makes me complain, that whether or not Himedia can access and modify "sneaky" our devices remotely from the internet, without any acknowledgment or confirmation by our side. Strange experiences to underpin this just keep on gathering. What's your POV Futeko?!

I need your help please, somehow it looks like my q10 is bricked.
I was using the 2.0 firmware for the last 2 weeks, and I wanted to come back to 5.1
I was downgrading from 2.0 to 1.0.8 (using migration firmware from Android 7 to Android 5.1 in the 2nd post in this thread). Unfortunately power went off while downgrading.
When power came back I tried to repeat the downgrade process, but it stucks at this screen:
As you can see progress bar is 100%. The Himedia ligth in the player keep flashing red and white.
I've waited for more than 15 minutes, multiple times, still no luck.
If I remove the USB, when reboot, it stucks at Himedia logo:
-
@omega3: if it still boots, it is not bricked. Redo the first step of the downgrade, then do the second step. If one of them is not completed successfully, then you would see things like that. Force it to boot from SD card, do not use USB. I had a similar issue with it when I tried flashing something and it messed up /system partition.

Please try installing 1.0.7 firmware. If that works you can install later Android 5.1 firmware.

It does not appear that the wireless keyboard detection is fixed :( That is one of issues that bothers me most... I will flash it ASAP tonight.
Edit: I would make 2 separate topics for Lollipop and Nougat based firmwares instead of one new topic for each new firmware. It would make it easier to follow.

Since most of the firmware upgrade are to be used for European Q10 Pro models, where can we get upgrade for Chinese made Q10 units?
Appreciate your feedback.

Futeko only sell and support the International firmware version (they are all made in China :) ).
If you have a Chinese firmware box from another seller, you will need to go back to your vendor and ask them for support.

It just says Made in China, but apps and settings are in English. Is it safe to use the firmware upgrade here?

Where did you get it from?
They are all made in China, but you need to be sure it isn't the actual Chinese version as otherwise you may brick it.
Post your current system info it will show which one it is. Model/Android/Kernel/Build etc.

I think you need to show the hardware info, to my best knowledge the Chinese version only has 8 Gb of ROM and the International has 16gb.

Device info showed storage size of 16GB. I believe this is a European version then, based on your account.

Topic locked because 2.0.0 is a very old firmware that there is no need to ever install.
To upgrade to 2.0.6 or later from Android 5.1.1 upgrade to 2.0.4 first, as pointed out in stl's post above.
