Unable to start PlayStore
« on: September 24, 2018, 12:20:42 PM »
Hello!

I'm running OFW 2.0.6 and have PlayStore working properly since the fw came out. But on another forum some with the same 2.0.6 fw have run in a problem with PlayStore as it won't even start on their Boxes (strangely).

They have tried with uninstalling the PlayStore with the method described for apps in the FAQ, also with clearing the Google cache, but no success. One have even made a fresh FW reinstall. Than downloaded the latest version of PlayStore from APK Mirror and installed the apk manually, but all of these were unsuccessful, PlayStore remained unlaunchable.

What would be your solution or suggestion to make it work again?

(Please don't suggest the FW update, cause regarding the other known issues with the newer versions, we have many good reasons to stuck with the 2.0.6. And as I've being with, I'm also running 2.0.6 and PS works for me totally normal.)

The one they didn't try yet is to uninstall PlayStore with the adb shell method described here. But not sure regarding what kind of app and supplementary files will be necessary to make it work. ???

Assuming Play Store is available in their country, I would install firmware 2.0.1 (to wipe and re-format internal storage) then 2.0.4 then 2.0.9.

Hungary, same as me, so that's definitely could not be the problem.

Can you answer me question regarding the adb solution?

I would suggest them to downgrade to 2.0.1->2.0.4 and than back to 2.0.6 only if there's really no other workaround.

I can't help re. ADB. Not something I'm very knowledgeable about.

2.0.1 > 2.0.4 > desired FW should definitely work.

Looks like deleting the Google Play Services updates has resolved the problem. (Hope not just temporarily).

@Mount81

Google add a lot of restriction on their site.
If Google will not fix/change a same situation will come back when remove account or change password.
HiMedia fixed start with FW v2.0.8.

All recent firmwares since 2.0.7 has the same old .srt subtitle bug and new issues with SD (avi, xvid, etc...) videos. That makes them all absolutely a worst choice for lot of us ambitious users who's have a need for these features to work properly. If I in any case, I have to switch forcedly to some of the newer version, just to have a working PlayStore again, I won't do it that happily and that's the fault of HiMedia's muddling FW development.

(HiMedia couldn't even fix the .srt subtitle italic line bug since the beginning. It's just absolutely hilarious.)

Because it was off topic in a thread more than a year old.

Not for scoffing, but here's the link from your FAQ: * Remove system apps? Some apps are designated as system apps and cannot be deleted by normal means (Facebook, Skype, Kodi). If you really want to see them gone, follow this guide: http://www.futeko.com/newforum/index.php?topic=1653.msg13416#msg13416-> points exactly to where the same subject as my question is being discussed. And you say it's off-Topic?

Ok, so should I rather make a new Thread regarding?

The title of that thread is 'Manual for Q10Pro interface'. So your post, at the end of it, was off-topic.

You are welcome to start a new thread for ADB.
