« on: January 13, 2022, 04:47:17 PM »
Hi,
I use several external hard drive with maximum capacity of 18 TB, cause i was tired of adding hard drives.
Is the z 1000 pro abble to access it with internal rack and/or external usb ?
I read that the max capacity access is of 14 tb.Did some of you experienced a higher capacity ?
thanks for your comments. :)

All 512e type HDD's will work (512 byte logical sectors). Seen those upto 20 TByte. Forget about 4Kn (4K Logical Sectors) types.

I think anything over 16TByte does not work (correctly) with any Android player.

This was confirmed with some detailed testing. The limit is roughly 17.5 TByte (=6300 Gigabyte).

Hello,
I moved both iso blu ray and dvd files to a 12tb hard drive, they are not playing either on the z1000pro. On the other hand I burned them and they are played without problem on the blu ray player and pc player. So it's apparently not a matter of hard drive size. :-[

Never found an up to 16 TByte HDD not working formatted GPT+NTFS while SATA connected to a W10 PC.

These next can be swapped between that PC, SATA via any brand Android Media Player or using an USB Docking station. Do this all the time.

Hi,
All my external hard drives are formatted GPT+NTFS (see attached image).
I have tried from a 12 tb hard drive internally or on usb dock, the two problematic iso (1 blu ray and 1 dvd) are not readable on the z1000 pro
All other dvd and blu ray are read with functional menus.
This problem may be specific to these two files.
Burned on dvd and blu ray they are read normally on my sony player and the pc pioneer one.

Is that with or without menus?

BD ISO's getting stuck with menu playback is a well known problem. DVD's play with menu only and mostly work but with menu faults being common.

The maximum SATA HDD according my theory and others practical testing for Android is 17.5 TByte (=16300 Gigabyte).

Warning: This limit is NOT present using a W10 64-bit PC or via USB which may be confusing.

Is updated with latest Dune FW release notes confirming exactly my message about HDD > 16 TByte via SATA.
You are warned.

My experience:
- maximum size to read from (both USB and SATA) - I do not know, I tried 22 TB and it worked (GPT, NTFS)
- maximum size to write to - 17.6 TB as per my experience. If HDD is larger - writing to the disk is not possible, no data is saved properly and can be recovered by chkdisk on PC later only. So HT work/Kodi editing etc will be impossible. More: disk work will become VERY unstable - slightest mistake and data is gone. Had such experience, had to recover 18 TB of films :-(((

Point: all above is for VOLUME. Hence if HDD is partitioned to 2 or more volumes  not more then 17.6 TB each - everything works fine (WD DC HC550, Seagate Exos, GPT/NTFS, 512 bite/sector, 4096 bite/cluster).

Do not know about Dune, but Zidoo 1000 Pro can read partitioned HDD without problem.
