HiMedia Q10 Pro, Q5 Pro / Kodi playback issues

Hi I just installed

OFFICIAL Q10 PRO FIRMWARE ANDROID 7. FUTEKO. HMD-2.0.6 2017-10-25

I then updated Kodi from play store to version 17.6

4k Movies do not seem to play.  Kodi just crashes or ignores when play pressed.  Its like the himedia native player is not being called.

There used to be a script in apps to force native player but no longer seems to be there.

What have I missed?

@stl that was a good call.

I have a power supply which adjusts is voltage depending on drain.  PLugged it in.  Button reset method.  Its just all installed and ran ok.

Will give it until tomorrow and some good testing and come back with results.

@futeko

If it turns out to be the power supply do you actually sell these separately?  I have looked over site but cannot see any.

OK that sounds like a possible answer.  I have a variable vault power supply laying around will try it.

OK I tried with that version and same thing.

Himedia logo appears for a split second and it restarts.

Is there anything else I can try?

never had any issues until I installed Android 7.  Bit annoyed.

Hi,

I have had a Q10 now for about 1 and half years.

It suddenly one day went crazy.  When I switch it on it keeps showing the Himedia logo then resetting.

This happened about 3 weeks after updating to Android 7.

Since then I have tried :

- Reinstalling Android 7 using reset pin
- Downgrading using the 7 - 5 zip.

When I first reinstalled after downgrading it worked for an hour.  I then switched it off.  Went to bed and next day same problem.

Installed latest Android 5 zip.

Again.  IT worked for a bit then next day (today) same problem.  Reinstalled same zip (latest Android 5) and getting same problem.  Starts up.  Shows logo then resets in a loop.

Is the Q10 nuffed?

HiMedia Q10 Pro, Q5 Pro / Re: TV HDR Mode: OTHER
« on: September 30, 2016, 01:54:32 PM »
The thing is though how do we actually know Other is Dolby Vision?  Has it been confirmed by Himedia or is it speculation and guess work?

What's its relevance? Unless you expect it is a magical setting improving PQ a lot? Tried it myself in practice but no magic there.
No DV material around neither, so not way to test it that way. No guarantee that DV support will be included later either.

Ermm your missing my point.  People in here are saying Other is DV..  I am asking how they know this or have they guessed?
My main point is I wish Himedia would actually release a manual with all functionality of all settings.  Personally I prefer to know exactly what each setting is doing rather than just selecting something and guessing what it does.

See the related topic: http://www.futeko.com/newforum/index.php?topic=1252.0 where I make the conclusion Himedia is completely on the wrong track here.

Calling DV (Dolby Vision) "Other" is something I can understand very well though. It would implicitly mean support for Dolby Vision as a commitment. DV is more than just HDR and the standard is still wet. The box is definitely not certified by Dolby Laboratories either. Even all currently sold UHD 4K Blu Ray players lack support for DV.

The thing is though how do we actually know Other is Dolby Vision?  Has it been confirmed by Himedia or is it speculation and guess work?

This is one of the reasons I am a bit shocked there is no manual for q10/5 Pro.

No one really knows what some of the options are they just speculate what they are.  Would be nice to have an actual manual...like almost every hardware device on the market has.

What really makes the TV HDR mode: OTHER?
I play my movies only on the internal hard disk. If the film by setting OTHER untouched passed through the Hi-media?
Because the HDMI video color space setting is grayed out.
Thank you for your answers
OTHER is Dolby Vision.

Please explain how you got this information.  Or are you just guessing?

Doesn't really make sense to have HDR yet call Dolby Vision other does it?  Misinformation is the worst kind of information

I suspect you didn't and that you might have Chinese version hardware..

That was the first thing that came to mind reading OP

I gave it another try. Still the same. It shows android logo and then red exclamation mark and boots into os again. Tried factory reset and even that is not working..shows android logo and then comes back into os.
I will try to put it on amazon, eaby and see if someone is interested to buy.
Anyway thanks for trying to help.

Firstly are you sure you are using the correct firmware for the hardware you have?  Eg using European firmware on European hardware?

Then I would try using the pin method using the very first firmware release.

As for the guy calling you a rookie @oxana.  Ignore him.  You can upgrade via online and menus on the Q10.  I always use this method unless I want a completely clean install of latest firmware, as in remove all apps settings I have on Q10.

I have the Js8500 and I leave it on for that HDMI channel all the time.

The wrapper does not require a username/password to be entered. I don't have password protected shares and Kodi+wrapper works without from a clean install without ever having run the wrapper app.

I noticed something strange last night which I think might have been caused by the change to the shares.

I have a 6tb internal hd in the Q10 and I also have Synology Nas's connected via Ethernet.
The Nas's are plugged into the same switch that the Q10 is plugged into so no major network redirection.

Anyway.  When re-adding movies & tv shows in kodi, when selecting browse (under videos->files->add source) I found that 50-60% of the time kodi would report errors trying to connect to anything.  I never had this issue before.  It is as if kodi is being refused connection to any device.
