[Q10] Native Himedia video player is clearer than Kodi
« on: November 23, 2016, 11:15:34 AM »
I notice the native himedia player is clearer than the Kodi player

I captured images to make comparison

This is played by Kodi (16.1 Jarvis)

See, there are some annoying horizontal lines when the scene is dark.

And this, played by himediaplayer

The picture is clear, no horizontal lines.

Too bad, there's no sound when the native player plays video with 7.1 audio channel. :'(

What audio codec?

DTS-HD MA, True-HD, ATMOS, DTS:X should all be OK.

If it's AAC 7.1 then have you tried adding a second audio track as described here: http://www.futeko.com/newforum/index.php?topic=1362.msg10799#msg10799

It's AAC 7.1
Can you tell me how to do it step by step?
I'm so lost here

Use something like mkvtoolnix to add a second audio track. http://www.videohelp.com/software/MKVtoolnix

The second track can contain anything or nothing but, if the info in the other thread is correct, it's presence will overcome a bug in Q5/Q10 Pro FW and allow the AAC 7.1 track to play.

This bug has been reported to HiMedia and we are waiting for a fix..

Hmm..  it worked after I converted it to 5.1
But I still hope Himedia will fix this audio issue in the next update, because I have hundred movies with aac 7.1 audio channel.
