HiMedia Q10 Pro, Q5 Pro / Re: HDR10 YCbCr444 10 bit at 2160p 60
« on: January 03, 2023, 07:58:09 AM »
Q10 Pro and Q5 Pro known to have problems to "auto" switch to the most accurate colorspace and bitdepth when switching down from 60Hz, when playing a video, to fe. 23.976Hz. To eliminate this, you must keep your GUI refresh rate setting at 30Hz, set the colorspace and bitdepth to 444 / 10bit and than, when starting a video, with presumably lover fps (and so refresh rate)  the colorspace and bitdepth stays at the same setting as it was at 30Hz, which are the most "optimal" in the aspect of picture quality.

Is there a way in this to set up the shared folders for "read-only"? And also to allow the share access only to a specific ip address?

For example in haneWin NFS Server you can edit the exports file this way to do that:

i:\MyFiles\Movies -readonly -name:NFS-Movies-I 194.165.1.189

I am looking for a replacement.
HTPC.

Nah, Ugoos AM6B Plus. Full HDR10+, and (and almost) full DolbyVision support on Android. Any you can put Coreelec on the Box far any video format that Android can't handle.

It was always like this, even on other platforms and media Boxes, Kodi's auto search for servers in the SMB section isn't working. It's rather the a fault of Kodi, not entirely of the Box. No surprise.

Hello!

I have installed the official Stadia app on my Q10 Pro, but couldn't get my gamepad (Speedlink Torid Wireless) working within games. The gamepad work on the HiMedia launcher screen, and I also can move around within the Stadia app, but the other control buttons are totally unusable, they don't get recognized at all. I'm juts asking if anyone here have tried and could get play Stadia games with this app and a controller? Just search for the Free-to-Play Destiny 2 on Stadia, which doesn't requires a subscription to play and maybe one could have try it out this way.

Thanks!

The Realtek boxes all produce a better image than any Amlogic. Deeper colour and a more movie like sharpness. It's like the difference between a good BD player and playing a movie using a Blu-Ray drive in a PC.

The 1619DR chipset in particular produces the best image of any Android based (i.e. in last 10 years) media chipset, on a par with HiSilicon and similar to the very old Sigma Designs boxes (Popcorn Hour, original Dunes).

That's the reason why all the high-end Media Player brands use Realtek and not Amlogic.

As to what to buy, Zidoo use Realtek 1619DR and they have the best firmware (excellent media browsing software and few bugs). They also have a busy support forum, responding to customer feedback with a steady stream of updates. Dune also use Realtek 1619DR and, whilst I appreciate some people prefer their software (not Android and for legacy reasons), their media browsing software is inferior and the firmware is less reliable with fewer options. The new Zapittis use Realtek 1619DR and have good media browsing software, but it's up to the customer whether this justifies the extreme pricing.

The PQ of two media Players should be identical (regardless of the media SOC it uses), or close to identical if it's only up to the reference and the output is intended to be "bitperfect". Difference may only come if this doesn't happen in a sufficient way, or the picture is altered by intention somehow. There are serious tests to measure this, not just saying something about that this and that has more "Cinema like" picture, or "nicer" colors etc... (Like the ones in red shirt in Media Mark selling TV's that have pimped up contrast and color saturation, juts to look more "candy" for the costumers to fall in love at the first glance...)

Ugoos AM6(B) Plus is what I would buy. On Android it does DV better (knows more profiles and more accurate) than Dunes or Zidoos and for anything up to HDR10+ you can dual boot CoreElec on it. Or if dual boot system is too uncomfortable to you, just go buy a Shield 2019, still better than Dune.

As a general purpose Android box, perhaps, but picture quality is much inferior to the Realtek.

Inferior to the Realtek SOC on it's own by nature or inferior to with the Zidoos FW? With CoreElec the Amlogic SOCs proof to be just as perfect as the Zidoo could be (or even better) in PQ. Nothing inferior here to talk about.

I don't use OFW but back wallpaper is come from /system/framework-res.apk/res/drawable-sw720dp-nodpi-v13/default_wallpaper.png
Can you try to over set on build.prop
ro.config.wallpaper=/system/etc/default_wallpaper.png
and push from adb your favorite wallpaper on /system/etc/default_wallpaper.png
Code: [Select]
adb connect <ip_player>
adb root
adb connect <ip_player>
adb remount
adb pull /system/build.prop
add with notepad++ on end of build.prop ro.config.wallpaper=/system/etc/default_wallpaper.png
Code: [Select]
adb connect <ip_player>
adb root
adb connect <ip_player>
adb remount
adb push build.prop /system/build.prop
adb push default_wallpaper.png /system/etc/default_wallpaper.png
adb shell chmod 644 /system/build.prop
adb shell chmod 644 /system/etc/default_wallpaper.png
adb reboot
If like this not solve then try edit on framework-res.apk, resign with platform key and push back via adb.
Don't forget to make backup, backup, backup because touch build.prop/framework-res.apk can end on loop, then OFW need to reinstall with paper clip.
Enjoy moding of OFW.

So I have now finally done it and confirm, that this method is working. Once the "pull" part is done, one should only do to change the wallpaper is make batch file for the "push" part and place and rename any custom wallpaper he wants in that folder where bat file is launched from.

You know that you can customize each button in Kodi with the Keymap editor addon, right?

11
Well thanks, but it takes a lot of consideration to do such a in-depth modification. Can only the first method also cause system errors?

BTW, back to the previous: After this modification (quoted under) the first video playback ended in freeze of HiMedia player, than I have to reboot and the second time it played normally. I didn't tested much exhaustingly, it was only one video, and hope this is not some kind of result of either the launcher, nor the power menu mod i have just installed.

Thanks!
So it must be:

Code: [Select]
adb connect <ip_player>
adb root
adb connect <ip_player>
adb remount
adb push OvLauncher.apk /system/app/OvLauncher/OvLauncher.apk
adb reboot

And do I need to save/backup the original launcher first from the Box via adb, in case it doesn't work well? Or how  can I revert to the original 2.1.7 launcher if I want to?

Code: [Select]
adb connect <ip_player>
adb root
adb connect <ip_player>
adb remount
adb pull /system/app/OvLauncher/OvLauncher.apk
adb reboot

Can the code above work for this? Or any other steps?

Edit: I have managed to do the swap, now the launcher can be changed.

Another issue with 2.1.7 (I just don't wanted to open a new thread) is that the wallpaper constantly resets to blank black sometimes by itself. It was somewhat the same even with OFW 2.1.1, but I guess with 2.1.7 it happens more often, mostly after reboot. Is there anything I can do to stop this happening? A patch maybe, or a third party app?

TY!

Hello!

So I have installed this ATV launcher and everything works till the next reboot, than the launcher is set back to HiMedia's default. How can I make the custom launcher permanent?

There was no trouble with this in OFW 2.1.1, so is there some magic trick I must do on 2.1.7?

Thank you!

Thanks, so I still need to install the update.zip of the power menu mod first to get this Minix app version working?

And is the "Sleep" option working with these HiMedia Boxes? I thought they don't have any Sleep mode.
