One big shit.

The system is mega unstable.
Suspension all the time, Kodi 17.1 does not work the return button on the remote.
I wanted to "roll out" Kodi 17.1 and again Q10Pro "hang"

The problem with HDMI is still "good that I have an adapter" ... (only if Himmedia does not give it in price since they can not do it programmatically) so much time to check before everything again "hangs"

And halfway, I'm eager to throw this device out the window.

A joke was the amendment for 5.1. For version 7 it's not even a joke anymore ....

I do not want to check anything anymore, neither upload or move ....

A joke with customers.

Just tried this new formare.

At first seemed very responsive. Very nice indeed..

Then I started to use it...

I usually copy my backup of whole kodi directory stored on my nas drive  to himedia.
This way I can keep all my settings and skins etc..

However, when trying to copy to himedia, I get a error that internal SD card is read only. So esfile explorer aborts, as it can't copy to himedia.

Then started to get this error message.

android st process has stopped

Onky way to get rid of error is to unplug himedia.

Now on Reboot sits at himedia screen forever.

Only way to  boot again is to reflash firmware via usb..

Then will boot.
But...
Will get write errors again  and that messsge
So have to reflash..

Just went back to 2.0.1 and  now no write errors etc.
Stable..

So my advice for now.. STAY AWAY FROM THIS NEW VERSION.

It will currupt the internal memory writes, and require a reflash to boot..

I applied the new FW 2.0.3 over the existing 2.0.1 and can note the marked changes in the performance.

5.1 Audio Passthrough while using Kodi.

Audio passthrough with streams too in Kodi?

Streams not working with the Wrapper Player. Kodi player is giving 5.1 audio pass while keeping the Audio as  RAW in the media player setting. Enable the passthrough option in the Kodi setting.

For clarity, you're saying that Dolby Digital streams working with Kodi 17 and this firmware?

Only Dolby Digital (5.1) AAC giving passthrough, not DTS, Atmos or DTS-X despite the channel settings as 7.1 output both in the AVR and the Media Player. This is apparently a limitation and needs to be fixed.

System is stable; Lesser crashes/hangups

Thanks Futeko! Hope other bugs are fixed soon.

Yeah, you have just checked completely and exhaustingly the "all-round stability" since the upgrade release became available here?! It was -in best case- just circa 13 hours ago...

Or are you just trolling?!

Sure...

Well I have noted a strange thing here, when the world was comparatively peaceful with 2.0.1 I was struggling all the way to get even 10 minutes run in Q10 Pro shipped with 2.0.1 FW. Besides the stored content in my HDD nothing was playing right, no Kodi, Apps used to get freeze, hangups.

I applied the update 2.0.3 and now I am REASONABLY happy with above aspects! Wonder why I need to troll the esteemed members here.

Ok, but no ones complained to any kind of freezes and hang-ups since the last couple of upgrades. And a couple of hours just far not enough to make exact conclusions like that regarding the stability. That's why it sounded like trolling, sorry if that's not the case.

Himedia should revise it's whole product development strategy, if they're will still be unable to fix these basic issues regarding KODI 17. It's been for a while now, and still no any tiny sign of whenever they would be capable to. The most correct way would be to revert the preinstalled KODI to version 16.1 in any upcoming firmwares, and do so within text of the advertisements. Sure it looks more "hooky" with ver. 17 advertised, but after so many user complains, maybe it's not a wise strategy in a longer term and remains just a partial marketing BS. Fix what needs to be fixed first, than we can come back to the question. But I have also begun to feel, that Himedia -also regarding some other issues- doesn't really take care much about user requests, expectations and complains anymore. It's good that they're still showing "some kind" of development regarding the firmwares, but recently it falls far away from the expected route.

Dear Futeko,

I have a query here. How different your FW 2.0.3 is from what is hosted on Himedia support page? Os it the exact replica?

I should add a new issue. There is a very annoying flickering effect during the playback. It was only if I used imprex. Maybe it comes from an automatic contrast feature instead of I have switched it off always.  I have to rollback to 2.0.1. I was happy before I have noticed this issue because the tidal app was working in 2.0.3 instead of 2.0.1.

That firmware is 1.10 for Android 5.1.1. I downloaded it and looked in the zip file. There is a bootlog file which states 5.1.1.  Quite a bit messy so I mailed them about the location of the other firmwares for 7.0 and 5.1.1

Thank you, I read enough here to stay with firmware 1.0.9 and Kodi 16.1 on my HiMedia Q10 Pro, it is still working fine and hope HiMedia will fix this mess soon!  :-\

1080@23.976 Hz, firmware 2.0.3, Himediavideoplayer, frame drops

The story with 23.976 fps movie comes back on new SDK.

I've opened this topic to track changes.

@futeko, please report to Himedia that 23.976 fps is brocken on 2.0.3 firmware.

You can check it visually with pendulum video: http://www59.zippyshare.com/v/PzbF9IhC/file.html

Below some diagnostic. I've selected with bold what's wrong. It was fixed about nine month ago.

To those complaining about Kodi 17.1 remote not working, this is an old known issue that was introduced by Kodi (it did not happen in 17.0).
The remote keys have simply been remapped, so they do work, just differently....
Full info in thread:
 http://www.futeko.com/newforum/index.php?topic=1789.0

Fix was also posted courtesy of @DancesWithChickens ;  http://www.futeko.com/newforum/index.php?topic=1849.0

EDIT/UPDATE 16th April
Many thanks to @pcristi for the real fix  ;D
See above thread; simply disabling Joystick Support (and rebooting) gives back the normal remote operations  8)

Also if Kodi 17.1 gets into a constant reboot loop, turning off all auto updates seemed to fix the problem previously.

I have installed new firmware today and will test thoroughly before posting my observations of changes.
EDIT 16/4:  found new Android remapped internal and USB attached HDD's with different ID so Kodi and SPMC showed the same drive names but not the library (which needed Content Setting again and library updated).  NAS names and library were not altered.  Library Clean is then required to remove duplicates.

After using this new firmware 2.0.3 and having changed seetings, used some tweaks, here are my findings (flaws) :

1. HDMI CEC still doesn't work, my home cinema -TV  HDMI ARC connection still goes crazy

2. Lack of google account in the Android settings (you can only login into your account in the Play Store)

3. No security TAB in the Android settings, hence you cannot change the unknown sources "ON" , so I cannot install any third party app, or any app out of the Play Store, making it impossible to install the "shitty" version of KODI provided in this forum.

4. Now there is only 1 single wallpaper and there is no way to change it, or to point at a folder with graphics.

As for audio and video until now they seem OK with the media center+wrapper, I have to test more in this area to be able to write any details.
