The instructions below give 7.1 audio passthrough and 3D-ISO support in any version of XBMC or Kodi on the HiMedia Q5/Q10/M3 4K3D
It has been tested as working on all versions of XBMC/Kodi/SPMC 13.4 through to 17. It replaces the internal video player in Kodi with the HiMedia video player app.
Once installed the HiMedia player will be the default video playback device in Kodi. If you want to use the internal Kodi player then you can by pressing the menu button (on remote or mouse middle button) and choosing 'Play using'.
It may work with an existing install of XBMC / Kodi but if it doesn't then you'll need to reinstall and run the patch on a fresh install.
Install instructions:
Firmware 3.0.2 and later
1. Run KODI, and then exit KODI by click the EXIT icon.
2. Go to 'My Apps' from home menu. Find 'Wrapper' app and run it.
3. In the top left corner you'll see 'playercorefactory not installed'. Select the check box below to 'install playercorefactory'.
3. Run KODI and you should now have 7.1 audio and 3D-ISO support.
Firmware earlier than 3.0.2
1. Run KODI, and then exit KODI by click the EXIT icon.
2. Download and install http://www.mediafire.com/download/73ydkv281c8dexr/himediaWrapper.apk (http://www.mediafire.com/download/73ydkv281c8dexr/himediaWrapper.apk).
3. Run the newly installed app. In the top left corner you'll see 'playercorefactory not installed'. Select the check box below to 'install playercorefactory'.
3. Run KODI and you should now have 7.1 audio and 3D-ISO support.
Uninstall instructions:
Install ES File Explorer and change settings-display so you can view hidden files. Navigate to sdcard/Android/data/org.xbmc.kodi/files/.kodi/userdata/. Delete the playercorefactory.xml file.

Dolby-TrueHD passthrough still not work iso and mkv :-\, DTS-HD ok!
TrueHD passthrough works in both ISO and MKV.
Try this TrueHD MKV sample: https://www.sendspace.com/file/z03few
Tested as working on a Q5 4K3D with 1.0.7 firmware and the playercorefactory patch applied as above. Q5 settings all on auto and nothing changed in Kodi settings from fresh install (Kodi settings don't matter because Kodi is using an external player).
I'm happy to test any sample files.

Dolby-TrueHD with Atmos :o passthrough not work iso and mkv
Dolby-TrueHD work ;D
-
Hi-Media need to fix the Atmos problem - Because its an embedded feature, most movies will have it as the only HD audio option - this means more and more movies will be effected as it becomes mainstream.
-
Hi @ all
Karl is totally right. HiMEdia should fix this as soon as possible! Please make more presure if possible.
I figured out that if Atmos is embedded in Dolby Digital+ it is running properly for me (my Yamaha Receiver shows me that Atmos is active).
It seems only to be an issue with Dolby TrueHD stream.
@ Karl... If you have the Dolby Atmos Test / Presentation Bluray or the m2ts files of it please try to change the language to Dolby Digital+ and enable Atmos on your receiver.
Thanks
-
Hello BTomek
I do not have an Atmos or Dolby+ capable receiver, in this case the passthrough should look like TrueHD as it is meant to be backward compatible. However when an Atmos embedded signal is present I get no sound. Some other manufacturers are apparently having similar issues but some fixes are appearing.
Regards
karl
-
Hi Karl,
I fully understand what you mean. But what I mean is that it seems to be an issue with the TrueHD format. A dolby digital+ is passing through atmos properly.
You can check this with following file: http://176.28.50.192/download_2d_trailers_crf.php?filename=hd_dolby_atmos_amaze_lossless-DWEU.m2ts
1. language is TrueHD and will be silent
2. language is Dolby Digital+ with Atmos information embedded. This will be passed through to your Receiver and the AVR will show Dolby Atmos on the display and in the decoding.
-
HiMedia are aware of the Atmos problem and are pushing HiSilicon to update the chipset firmware to fix it. The solution is going to have to come from HiSilicon, it's a chipset problem.
I'll ask HiMedia again on Monday about a timescale.
-
Thanks for your support, you don't get this from ebay sellers!!!
-
Update patch to enable TrueHD ATMOS support on Q5 and Q10 4K3D: http://www.mediafire.com/download/8vxqqm5ja9svvie/update.zip
It doesn't need a new firmware install, just go to SETTINGS - UPGRADE - LOCAL UPGRADE and select the update zip.

Your XBMC/Kodi patch only works for local media. When playing anything from LAN share (SMB, NFS) XBMC gives "Click OK when playback has ended" popup/error. Any idea how to fix this?

(please note if you use XBMC/KODI to play files from SMB network, the SMB network should have no User ID and Password.)
it's nice to be have app/ for mount SMB/cifs folder or like Kaba Bear firmware have SSH for mount folder ;D

My SMB & NFS shares are not password protected, i.e. open for guest user, and Kodi can play it fine with a built-in player. It's only when this patch is applied it breaks completely. Also, all of the streaming plugins are broken with this patch. Only local media is playable. I say it's not a good solution at all.

Samba shares without password protection definitely play OK using this patch. NFS and pass protected Samba do not.
We don't support streaming plugins so I can't comment too much on them, but it would be possible to have two installations of Kodi / XBMC on one box. One with the Himedia player patch and one without. I would suggest latest Kodi for plugins and SPMC for the patch.

I have a 5.1 av receiver that supports dolby true hd and dts hd (not Dts Ma as it is a 5.1 receiver). did I need the himediawrapper to listen 5.1 dts hd and 5.1 dolby true hd ?

No. 5.1 channel audio (DTS and Dolby AC3) works in regular Kodi on Q5/Q10/M3.
You only need the wrapper for 7.1 channel audio (DTS-HD MA and Dolby TrueHD), 3D ISO and some BD-ISO.

Hello there thx you for update how reinstall 100% the player with new FIRMWARE HMD-1.0.9 ?
If you install the 1.0.9 firmware you will have a fresh install of Kodi 14.2. From there follow the instructions in the first post of this thread.

Is the himediawrapper designed to work only with himedia firmware or could it be used to get the same benefits replacing the corefactoryplayer in any version of kodi on any android box?

It requires the himedia video app so won't work on other boxes.

Hi,
I installed the HiMediawrapper but Kodi is not launching it, any ideas what I need to do?
Thanks in advance

Hello,
When you install Himediawrapper, did you made choice to "Open" or "OK". After installing just make "Open" and valid at the left top the installing to have succesfully. ;)

Right now when I go to the apps section and select it, I'm getting Install OK.
So now when I goto select a file to play a box comes up saying "External Player Active - Click OK when playback has ended" When I click OK in that box nothing happens, the file does not start playing.
Files work perfectly when laying in the MediaCenter App but I am having a nightmare getting files to play in Kodi.
-
I've replied to your email about this problem. I think it's because the files are on an NFS share. Kodi + wrapper needs local files or a not password protected Samba share.
-
Yes thanks for your responses, I have tried to set up SMB share but I am getting a connection timeout when I try to add it.

Has anyone successfully shared external drives with SMB?
I can add files located on my computer, but as soon as I try to add files from an external drive I am prompted for a log in and password.
My external drives are mounted if that helps.

You can have as located drive and have all of your video in SMB working with Himediawrapper if you use this way as explain in this link. Very easy and works fine.

Thanks you so much Looun, very nice set but we always have the same problem with Kodi 15 and the error message "Click OK when playback has ended" when we try to play a movie at the beginning and the movie end also. ?? We can anyway to play all movies. Mistake........
-
Hey Looun,
Thanks for the guide, not going to lie I think I am unlikely to pull this off :'(
Going to give it a try tomorrow as it is a must to get all my files in Kodi!
What are the odds of either Kodi upgrading there internal player with the ability to play Dolby Atmos amd 23.976?
Or even the wrapper being able to accept NFS shares?
The inbuilt media app plays files perfectly over NFS, so the code must be buried somewhere to make it possible for the wrapper to play the file in Kodi.
You think this will eventually happen any time soon?
-
Hi Looun,
I have made a folder FILM1 with the guide and it shows up in the External section but none of the files are in it.
Is is critical to set up a User/password as I did not do that and left the entries xxxx on the notepad.

no , no way never , because android os not support this

why don't use SMB? this more better for streaming and supporto for all OS.

I am also new to the HiMedia Q5 player. I have a MacPro connected through SMB with the Q5 player without any password protection ("guest" allowed). After not being able to successfully setup the KODI app to stream my movies via SMP from the MacPro using the HiMediaWrapper app I was able to use your Auto_Mount_Multimedia_v0.2 setup and successfully setup all my shared folders as mounted local folders. I then downloaded your modified "playercorefactory.xml" and copied it into Kodi's Userdata folder.
All my .mkv files now play fine through the HimediaVideoPlayer, but NONE of my .iso files (blu-ray .iso files, both 2D and 3D movies) are passed to the HimediaVideoPlayer (they play with the Kodi DVDplayer)! I tried to modify your "playercorefactory.xml" based on other playercorefactory.xml files without success. All those .iso files play fine using the Media Center (through the Video selection) or using the file manager (under Drive C). Is there something wrong with your "playercorefactory.xml" setup? Am I missing something else?
Thanks for your help.

Actually I solved my own problem fiddling around with the KODI settings. Under Kodi Video - Disc settings I originally left the Blu-ray menu choice to "Show Simplified Menu". That, of course, allowed the KODI app to prompt for which title to watch, but in doing so bypassed the HimediaVideoPlayer and used the internal DVDplayer. When I changed the selection to "Play Main Title" or "Show Blu-ray Menu" the Kodi app passed on the .iso file to the HimediaVideoPlayer SUPPOSEDLY. But whatever was passed on, the HimediaVideoPlayer tried to play the video then stop after about 15 seconds with a nonspecific error. Has anybody else seen this problem?

I have been playing around with different versions of playercorefactory.xml and have modified the setup to work with most file types. My modified version of playercorefactory.xml correctly passes on Blurray .iso files to the HimediaVideoPlayer providing the current version of Kodi recognizes that the Bluray .iso file as an HD file (1080p resolution). The current version also passes on DVD .iso files correctly to Kodi's DVDplayer. And this version passes all .mp4, .avi, .mkv, and presumably the contents of a BDMV folder (not tested) to the HimediaVideoPlayer also (my preference). I do not know why .iso files passed from the Kodi apps (v14.2 and v15.0) to the HimediaVideoPlayer do NOT run properly, either at least starting to play for a few seconds or erring out completely after about 15 seconds. The same files play fine through the Media Center.

Does anybody know how to set a video's resolution (HD or SD, etc) in Kodi without having Kodi actually read the contents of the .iso file?
not use this this setting not work with the iso (i have tested all excluding iso).
Use all always mediawrapper or modify version of german version , i'm apologize.
Thanks a lot for your precious help Loon, just remove this line, right! in this setting!!
And about the other one, can you give us the right xml with the right setting for having all, Iso, Bdmv and so on. Very nice ;)

use mediawrapper:
Install instructions:
1. Run XBMC/KODI, and then exit XBMC/KODI by click the EXIT icon.
2. Download and install http://www.mediafire.com/download/73ydkv281c8dexr/himediaWrapper.apk.
3. Run the newly installed app. In the top left corner you'll see 'playercorefactory not installed'. Select the check box below to 'install playercorefactory'.
3. Run XBMC/KODI and you should now have 7.1 audio and 3D-ISO support.

I know this way from the begining, thanks. So you said to use only that way, to re install the HilediaWrapper, the better not change anything about the playcorefactory.xml. Thanks

OKAY... I re-downloaded the himediaWrapper and reinstalled it. I then ran the himediaWrapper to over-write the playercorefactory.xml file. I then re-added the instruction to use the Kodi DVDplayer for DVD iso's (i.e.. - <rule name="DVD-iso" dvdimage="true" player="DVDPlayer" > as the first rule of the "<rules action="prepend">" section). Originally streaming through SMB (guest login allowed without password protection) from my MacPro never worked - the HimediaVideoPlayer was launched but apparently never could stream the file from my MacPro and remained in an infinite loop not playing anything. But using the Video Folders setup with your Automount script now works like a charm... Thanks

Hoolo Loon,
Sorry but help please, evrything ok for playing with HimediaWrapper, Iso, M2ts, Mkv but nothing for the Bdmv structure. I can read only by LAN and work fine with HimediaWrapper. So did you have a way from that. Here the error message and my full Xml. I use Kodi 15 !! So....

Hi, Himediawrapper is only 7.1 audio and 3D-ISO support in kodi or also for 24p as other user says in one question about 24p?
Thanks a lot
-
Also 24p. 3D, 7.1 audio and 24p switching should all work from Kodi using wrapper.

Thanks, i will re-install today, maybe y forget to do it after new firm on the last weeks
-
After the wrapper install, kodi(15.2) don't play any file, just the turning arrows in the middle of the screen, i have uninstall the wrapper, then kodi even after a reboot, don't play any anything, i have reinstalled kodi and now work without the wrapper, why wrapper fail?, what to do when it happens?
I got last firm as today.
Thanks

It sounds like a problem with wrapper install. How are you uninstalling the wrapper?
To uninstall / reinstall the wrapper:
1. Install ES File Explorer (free from play store) and change settings-display so you can view hidden files. Navigate to sdcard/Android/data/org.xbmc.kodi/files/.kodi/userdata/. Delete the playercorefactory.xml file.
2. Run the wrapper app again and it should show wrapper as not installed. Select the button to install it.
Always install the wrapper on a fresh Kodi install. Results will be unpredictable if you install it on an install with add-ons / old config.

Hi, thanks, now it works, 24p too, but i miss all the options that kodi give, like watched movies and others, or they will work too?, don't work well, i get that for screen a long time http://prntscr.com/8nb0fd i wait more than 2 minuts, only few times work, anyway i prefer kodi player, i don't care too much about 24p, maybe in the future kodi or someone fix it

Hello.
I added Media Player wrapper (HiMediawrapper)
http://www.mediafire.com/download/73ydkv281c8dexr/himediaWrapper.apk
Then I downloaded the update to add Atmos support
"Update patch to enable TrueHD ATMOS support on Q5 and Q10 4K3D: http://www.mediafire.com/download/8vxqqm5ja9svvie/update.zip"
However, I can't use Atmos.
I tried Gravity (Dolby TrueHD), The Expendables 3 (Dolby TrueHD), and I also tried the Dolby Atmos Demonstration Disc 2014 1080p Blu-ray AVC TrueHD 7.1 Atmos.
I tried HDMI RAW and HDMI LPCM.
I tried Kodi (with the HiMediawrapper patch), and I also tried HiMedia video player app.
It does NOT work.
I have a Yamaha RX-A1050 which I know has Atmos support and when I press INFO it even tells me the codec it's using and the number of channels the audio signal is sending, and I never see 7.2.1 or 7.4.1 or 5.2.1 or 5.4.1
The middle digit X.Y.Z should tell me the ATMOS channels.
I know Yamaha should say ATMOS but it just keeps saying Dolby TrueHD just like my 5 year old video player.
I bought this video player just for Atmos.
Please help.

I think my reply in the other thread is relevant. You may have the Chinese hardware version.
For ATMOS to work you need firmware version 1.0.9 or later. What firmware version is installed?
Audio settings should be:
HDMI Output: RAW
S/PDIF Output: Close
HBR Degrade Output: RAW 7.1.

YAMAHA RX-A1050
YAMAHA RX-A2050
YAMAHA RX-A3050
YAMAHA CX-A5100
PROBLEM
NOTHING works with ATMOS
SOLUTION
The ONLY DSP that works with ATMOS is
1) Surround
ANYTHING else fails, Movie, Music, Concert, etc, every single DSP out there fails EXCEPT SURROUND.
According to the manual, this is what SURROUND IS
YAMAHA RX-A1050
SURROUND
Use Dolby Surround decoded suitable for all sources. A real acoustic space (including overhead) will be created especially when object-based audio (such as Dolby Atmos content) is played

With the new batch of Q10's arriving next week will all these patches and wrapper be preloaded or are we still required to download and apply them.
Don't want to muck anything up. I am not very good with Android devices.
-
you need to install the wrapper manually

Current stock does not have wrapper pre-installed. Installing it is easy though. Just follow instructions on page 1 of this thread.
Next firmware (3.0.2) will have Kodi 15.2 with wrapper pre-installed, but it's a couple of weeks away.
-
@rafara & futeko - thanks for the replies guys I will follow the page 1 instructions then.

I watched The Great Gatsby yesterday with XMBC and with the wrapper (Media Player)
XMBC is choppy it sort of freezes every now and then.
So at this moment I think the best performance is to use the media player.
Futeko do you think there is any change XMBC from HiMedia H8 could be ported to Himedia Q5?
Please, XMBC in Q5 is not useful I can't even watch a movie unless I do the wrapper trick.
-
I don't understand why it need to use Kody...!!!!
Himediaplayer work well
ok...there is a problem whit subtitle syncronisation
-
Because KODI allows me to zoom in/out and gives me awesome controls.
And because I PAID FOR A KODI PLAYER.
I am using a workaround that works but again I would like to have a KODI player.
Plus I can Play/Pause from my Apple Watch.

Our description of the Q5/Q10 is very clear about how Kodi works with wrapper. The wrapper solution on Q5/Q10 provides better performance (3D and 7.1 audio) than any other Android Kodi box.
If you wanted native Kodi then the Q5/Q10 was the wrong choice for you.
If you wanted native Kodi with native 3D-ISO, 7.1 Audio then no product exists anywhere that would satisfy your requirements!

Kodi (it's not been called XBMC for more than a year) with wrapper on Q5/Q10 provides exactly the same performance as Himedia Player in Android. It's the same thing.
And it's not choppy. Read the huge amount of feedback on Kodi forum, it's the best you'll get on Android.
rafarataneneces, please stop posting junk. I'm starting to find it suspicious that you are picking at Himedia for features not-advertised (native Kodi) or things that very few people care about (zoom in/out).

No the problem is that I buy a box that has no Zoom and no matter how I explain it, you disregard a feature.
Instead of saying me 'hey I see you love our product we'll look to see if we can add Zoom In/Out for you'
You say 'hey fuck you nobody likes that idea'

The problem is you ask over and over again, having already been told that we will ask Himedia to add the feature.
From your email address it doesn't appear that you're a customer of ours. That, the annoying repetitive nature of your posts, your use of f*ck, and my suspicion that you're really here just to cause trouble, means you are banned.

Hello everybody,
I'm using Kodi 15.2 Isengard and use ethe external Player himediaWrapper with Kodi for the HD Audio sound.
Everything Ok instead of each time when we finish to read a movie, I have a message at the top than we have to click OK for playing with an external player....."
So can we remove this message, very annoying. Thanks for your Help.
-
Sorry Google englisch. ;D
I also find it disturbing. Through this message, preventing the Kodi be terminated after xxx minutes. This in turn prevents my server does not go into sleep mode. It would be good that Kodi nevertheless finished. Even with the OK message.
Best regards

Hi, i'm a supporter of Himedia, bought from 300A > Q5 > Q5ii > Q54k3d,
I love the quality of Q5 and satisfy with my Q5ii until recently changed to a new amp (Denon x2200) which support HD audio and upgraded to Q5 4K3D. I indeed have issue when using SMB (without password) to play with Himedia wrapper, just like to share after tons of google and finally found it's the "folder name" with special character which block the wrapper to play media correctly.
I'm now happily using Kodi 15.2 + HimediaWrapper to play the media which support simple blu-ray menu (BDMV source), HD Audio (all decoded including DTS-HD, TrueHD with Atmos). The drawback imho are below which still waiting if future Kodi supported.
1. Cannot download external subtitle with built-in player (workaround: play media with Kodi player and switch back to Himedia player once subtitle downloaded)
2. All my source (DD / DTS / HD audio) only has white noise if using Kodi player if i choose passthrough option), though it's a small issue as i already use Himedia player to play all media but still will be nice if anything to fix
3. When start the playback, the external player message with "Click OK when play back ended" appear (simply ignore), and need to click "OK" when playback end. (Nice if there's option to disable the pop-up)
-

I have the exact same problem with the Q5 I recently bought. I have the suggested settings for KODI and android that is posted somewhere in this forum. But I am happy with the build in media center. Although a fix would be helpful and appreciated.

+1 here....very distrbing..."Click OK when play back ended#
This is a Kodi problem, it happens with Kodi on all platforms when using external player.
I agree that it is annoying and it could be improved. Kodi devs occasionally do read this forum, otherwise please post about it on the kodi official forum for best chance of getting it improved.

I've read offical kodi forum and it seems the "reminder message" is indeed a feature and no option at current moment to remove it. >_<

Good news.
I transfered to Kodi 16 RC3 and the message "Click OK when play back ended'' disappears.
However, the kodi watched flag does not work anymore with the Kodi 16 and himediawrapper.

Thats why i avoid and hate the wrapper, we miss some of the improvements kodi gives.

This video player only seems to work with local files on my attached hard drive, not with streaming, is this correct?

Yes, that is correct.
Wrapper only works with files from local storage or local LAN.

Hello all,
After few tests with non CEC HDMI adaptor or not about the Audio HD with Kodi and new Custom Firmware CS (pcristi) here is the result :
Panasonic Viera Neo Plasma VT50
Yamaha bar sound receiver YSP-2200 (ALL HD Audio Works fine with Q10 4K)
Q10 4K Pro
HDMI: RAW
SPDIF: Close
HBR Output: RAW 7.1
Kodi with Capability 8 chanels output with Passthrough.
We have:
DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1/7.1 only in DTS-Core 5.1 Have no problem with the Q10 4K
True-HD 5.1/7.1 NOTHING Have no problem with the Q10 4K
Dolby AC3 5.1 OK
Atmos NOTHING Have no problem with the Q10 4K
So i think it will be better with the Custom firmware and wish that this kind of problem will be OK for all of more than people who have same problem with their receiver.
Thanks .

Hello,
I am thinking about buying a Q10 Pro.
On the SPDIF digital output.
If I have a DTS Master Audio, Dolby Digital True HD or Audio HD signal...
Will I get a "Core" signal?
thank You

You've posted in the wrong forum.
7.1 audio is not supported for the SPDIF standard so you'll not get 7.1 from SPDIF with any device.
For DTS-HD MA you'll get 5.1 from SPDIF as it has a core. For True-HD you'll get 2 channel PCM unless the video has a seperate AC3 audio track.
