We have a couple of threads where posters are reporting problems with 7.1 HD-Audio from Q10 Pro.
Usually audio being 5.1 DTS/AC3 channel max and not 7.1 HD-Audio.
It's not a common problem and might possibly be an incompatibility with certain AV receivers.
If you're having this problem please post details of your setup here so we can try and establish a pattern and help HiMedia fix it.

Hello Futeko,
After testing with the new Himedia Q10 Pro i notice some problems with HD Audio not recognized with the Wrapper 3.6 instead of the setting in passthrough is on and correctly set as my old Q10 4K witch working fine with my Yamaha receiver YSP-2200.
Testing with lots of movies as expendable 3 with Atmos audio and also True -HD, same way not decoding. Did you have an issu as before with the Q10 4K with the patch for atmos and HD Audio ? or wa can think soon a new firmware with lots of bugs resolved;
Testing also with Dvdplayer and can read HD Audio.
Thanks for your support.
-
HD-Audio should pass without problem, whether using wrapper or HiMedia app. I've not seen any general problem and it works on the equipment we have here. Also, general testing across this forum and others indicates that is usually works fine.
The more info about this problem we can get the better. HiMedia will try and fix it but the cause needs to be better identified. Thanks for posting receiver info.

Yamaha Sound bar YSP-2200 and no problem with the old Q10 4K but HD Audio wrong with the new Himedia Q10 Pro.?
-
Hi everybody,
After testing my new Himedia Q10 Pro with my Panasonic Viera VT50 and my receiver Yamaha YSP-2200 with 1.4 HDMI cable witch work well with my old Q10 4K, my question is to know if there is a compatibilty with HD Audio DTS-HD, True-HD and Atmos sound.
Did there is a real difference if we use an HDMI 1.4 with the Q10 Pro and don't have error problem for decoded the HD Audio ????
Actualy even if i set correctly the setting:
HDMI: RAW
SPDIF: Close
HBR Output: 7.1
And have setting also Kodi with passtrough with AC3 and DTS output capability, have some problem to have the True-HD 7.1, Master HD 7.1 and Dolby Atmos.
So can everyone or Futeko can explain that way for me and everyone who have already TV and Receiver in 1.4 HDMI. ??? THANKS
-
Hi!, I have the same problem. My receiver is Yamaha rx-v775 (firmware version: 1.70 lastest version)
Native HiMedia player. Dolby TrueHD & DTS-HD MA mkv movie files:
HDMI Output = RAW HBR Output = RAW7.1 >> no sound
HDMI Output = RAW HBR Output = RAW5.1 >> only DD/DTS core sound
HDMI Output = Auto HBR Output = Auto >> no sound
I try to swap few HDMI cables but still the same result.
My Setup: HiMedia Q10 Pro > HDMI > Yamaha rx-v775 (5.1 speaker) > HDMI > Optoma Projector hd33
My HiMedia Q10 Pro player kernel and firmware information as below:
Q10 Pro Kernel version: 3.18.24
Q10 Pro Firmware version: HMD-1.0.1 2016-03-22.170326

TV Panasonic Viera VT5O
Receiver Yamaha YSP-2200
Test Audio directly by Media Center with a USB Key and play with Himedia Wrapper 3.6
HDMI: Auto
SPDIF: Close
HBR Output: Auto
1. H.264 1080p/23.976 (in MKV) Picture, no sound
2. H.264 1080p/24.000 (in MKV) Picture no sound
10. VC-1 1080p/23.976 (in MKV w/TrueHD 5.1 audio) Picture but no sound
11. VC-1 1080i/29.970 (in MKV w/DTS-HD MA 5.1 audio) Picture and sound but only in DTS Core and notice that work only when i swith off/on the receiver when the Q10 Pro is playing the file. At this time decoded the sound ?
If it is not a problem with 1.4 HDMI cable why with the old one Q10 4K we don't have the same problem
There is a real mistake about capability from receiver with the new Q10 Pro. Firmware update ??

I'm using native HiMedia player. And I tried all the combination of setting below when playing HD Audio (Dolby TrueHD & DTS-HD MA) mkv movie files:
HDMI Output = RAW HBR Output = RAW7.1 >> no sound
HDMI Output = RAW HBR Output = RAW5.1 >> only DD/DTS core sound
HDMI Output = Auto HBR Output = Auto >> no sound
This is one of the sample file I use to test https://www.sendspace.com/file/z03few (https://www.sendspace.com/file/z03few).
I try to swap few HDMI cables but still the same result.
My Setup: HiMedia Q10 Pro > HDMI > Denon AVR3311CI (5.1 speaker) > HDMI > Panasonic Plasma ST60
My HiMedia Q10 Pro player kernel and firmware information as below:
Q10 Pro Kernel version: 3.18.24
Q10 Pro Firmware version: HMD-1.0.1 2016-03-22.170326
Thanks.

I would make sure if you have issues, to always make sure your stereo firmware is up to date.
Jist because your stereo works with other media players or previous himedia is not a good reason not to update..
Expecially since this new player has a totally new hdmi chipset(hdmi 2.0a)as compared to older model with hdmi 1.4.
I found that most firmware updates for stereos fix hdmi compatibility issues just because of this..
Just a suggestion, and good starting point...

HI FUROTEC
MY SYSTEM YAMAHA RX-V1900 (This model is about 5 years old. Its manual says HDMI support 1080P)
My Setup: HiMedia Q10 Pro > HDMI > Yamaha RX-V1900) > HDMI > TCL 4k 50E5800
same problem with rjongks
HDMI Output = RAW HBR Output = RAW7.1 >> no sound
HDMI Output = RAW HBR Output = RAW5.1 >> only DD/DTS core sound
HDMI Output = Auto HBR Output = Auto >> no sound
How to fix this problem ???
thanks

Hello Futeko and all,
After severals tests at once i can say you my point:
Panasonic VT50 Plasma Neo
Yamaha Sound Bar YSP-2200
Q10 Pro
Just one thing. With my old Q10 4K, everything with Kodi or directly by "Media Center", and passthrough works fine and all HD Audio OK
DTS-HD Master audio 5.1/7.1, True-HD 5.1/7.1 and Also Atmos 7.1
Today with the new Q10 Pro with:
HDMI: Raw
SPDIF: Close
HBR output: RAW 7.1
If i use exactly my configuration as before without touching anything about cables we have:
DTS-HD Master 5.1/7.1 NO Audio
True-HD 5.1/7.1 NO Audio
Atmos: NO Audio
Only AC3 5.1/2.0... OK
Testing with samples and also with movies with differents HD Audio
Now with an adaptator like https://www.amazon.fr/dp/B00DL48KVI/ref=pe_386181_130944251_TE_dp_1
DTS-HD Master 5.1/7.1 Only in DTS-Core 5.1
True-HD 5.1/7.1 NO Audio NOTHING
Atmos: NO Audio NOTHING
Only AC3 5.1/2.0... OK
SO i don't know but more people like me as problem with our receiver and i think with 1.4a HDMI cable.
Did Himedia have testing more and more receivers and made capatibilty with lot of people who have the same devices. Thanks for your support. :)

It's sound like common problem with HDMI CEC on hisilicon box.
Use Lindy HDMI CEC Less Female to Male Adapter or cut pin 13 on HDMI cable.

Hi,
Just received my Q10 Pro and hooked up with yamaha ysp-5600. Audio formats are playing fine even Dolby Atmos, but sometimes I have problems
adjusting volume on yamaha. It's stopping to respond and looks like "hanging up", and I need to pull out power cord.
It was never happened with PC connected to yamaha and doing audio passthrough!
Used HDMI cable which came with Q10. I will try to switch HDMI cables.
I'm wondering what is going on??? :(

Disable all about HDMI-CEC first and see if it helps. It does not work correctly and may block other equipment. Unfortunately no option on Q10 pro to disable it either. i hope it is fixed (at least that it can be disabled) with the first FW upgrade.

little paper on pin 13 of hdmi WORKS
q10 pro no more blocks cec comunications. ALL IS PERFECT
ps. except mounting remote SMB share outside local network ;-)
anyway, VPN solves my issue

I'm looking to buy the Yamaha RX-A750 to go with my new Q10 Pro and 4k Vizio tv.
Anyone having any issues with the RX-A750?
Is there a list of all the unhappy receivers that don't work good with the Q10 Pro?
Thanks!

I have the Yamaha RX766 and it works fine, over HDMI.
Picture, HDR, DTS, DD, HD Audio
Until now no problems. :)

Thanks, good to know. Although that is a completely different line. The A750 is part of the AVENTAGE line. I hope it also works well with the Q10 Pro.

Try to switch off Auto settings of HDMI and HBR and set them manual.
Try different settings, and perhaps you have success.

I'm still looking for anyone who has the RX-A750 to confirm this is a good receiver and has no issues with Q10 Pro. Must be at least one of you out there.
Also, why isn't there a easy to find LIST of incompatible receivers?? Shouldn't that be the sticky in this thread?

I'm using the yamaha CX-A5100 preamp, and all HD audio including atmos and dtsx all work awesome..
-
Hmmh....ALL WORKING including DTS-X....but there seems to be a problem with DTS-MA.
See pics for JudgeDredd demo!
Gravity DTS-X Demo is recognized as DTS-MA and has the same 5.1 recognizing problem.
Worked for me using the Media Centre directly or vis Synology DSvideo. BOTH!
Since KODI can be problematic when it comes to audio pass through...guys with audio problems should NOT use Kodi when experiencing audio problems!!!
>>> Use the media center from HiMedia instead!
/EDIT: Do you see that? :P The Q10pro passes 7.1.4 material through! That is 12channel AUDIO!
-
Regarding audio passthrough.
On my Windows based PCG03 there are options within Kodi to select the passthrough device so I always selected my AV receiver (Onkyo TX-NR3030).
On this machine the ONLY option is "android, audiotrack" and this is greyed out so cannot be altered, is this correct? If it isn't, how do I change the options?
Thank you.
-
Some manufacturers use an own modification of Kodi, so that you have extra Options here and there.
Himedia does not use an own modification. Out of the box, as I know, they use the original version of Kodi 15.2.

One the the items in the changelog for the latest beta firmware is fixing HD-Audio problems with some amps.
It appears Yamaha is the main problem.
It's not meant to be a public beta but it's been leaked so widely that it may as well be, so you could try it out: http://www.futeko.com/newforum/index.php?topic=801.msg6170#msg6170
Or wait for official firmware. We don't have a Yamaha amp but I'm fairly confident this problem will be fixed.

SUCCESS !! ;D ;D ;D
New firmware fixes the bitstream audio problems; completely.
DTS-HD MA & TrueHD 7.1 all playing perfectly now on my Yamaha.
Checked all the Kodi samples and my own Blu-ray rips with various HD audio formats.
Now passes 88.2Khz, 96Khz and even 192Khz FLAC with no problems ;D
Beck's Sea Change Pure Audio 192Khz is magic.....
Now I am a happy user and can start playing around with other features including Kodi.

I did install the latest firmware and to some extend the native player now pass through dtshdma and truehd 7.1 to my AV receiver Yamaha RX V673. But the AAC 5.1 tracks are still output as 2 channel stereo only!!!!!!!!!. Please also note that after firmware update there was freezing of the system and i had to reboot the Q10 Pro and found many apps not working. So i made a factory reset and then installed the Latest firmware again. Now that apps including Kodi,Chrome browser, youtube etc were not found i had to manually install them one by one from the playstore.
At the end DTS hd ma and truehd are working. But AAC 5.1 not working. Please any have any suggestion to overcome this issue?
-
Your setup is probably messed up from the piecemeal reset and reinstall.
Do a factory reset from Android menu Settings - More - Backup & Reset. Choose the wipe SD card option. Allow the factory reset to complete and the box to boot back up. This should wipe the box.
Now install latest firmware using reset button method.

still no sound with TrueHD 7.1
Suggest trying some of the Kodi samples and re-check your audio:
http://kodi.wiki/view/Samples
I am surprised that you can pass-through DTS-HD MA 7.1 but not TrueHD? Have you tried LCPM 7.1?
The latest firmware fixed my sound issues completely ;D

I did a complete reset as described. But the same effect. Only hardware firmware updated. All the software like kodi, youtube, chrome etc were all gone. i have to re-install them all one by one . Anyway that does not matter. Still AAC 5.1 audio is output as 2 channel stereo only.
Is there anything more i have to do?

This is going off topic.
Never gave AAC 5.1 a go myself. Always use FLAC 5.1 for HQ audio or SACD with straight DSD output, this next to BD pure audio which works fine. My SQ audio is still all MP3.
I think you should report it formally as a feature request. Did not read anywhere that it was supported , only if it was then it is something missing and a bug. There are several flavors of AAC encapsulations so you will need to be precise both when asking and testing.
SACD support with DSD RAW output is regarded a bug as it was clearly advertised with support for it.

What AVR does decode AAC5.1 :o
NONE I know!

What AVR does decode AAC5.1 :o
NONE I know!
Excuse me. This is not off topic. This thread discusses about AV receiver HD audio incompatibility. I am still using my MED600X3D and Yamaha RX-V673 where AAC 5.1, DTS HDMA, TRUEHD etc works like a charm. I have added HimediaQ10Pro mainly for 4K and all audio pass-through ability. Since it does not, i be-leave it to be a bug and need help.
-
What AVR does decode AAC5.1 :o
NONE I know!
Whilst I agree AAC is not a codec I would ever use by choice (having no love for Apple), I did try the sample AAC 5.1 file from Kodi as part of my audio testing.
It does pass through from the Q10 Pro to my Yamaha AVR and plays in 5.1 (under latest firmware).
The sample test file actually checks each speaker working individually (spoken channel identification) and then together:
https://www2.iis.fraunhofer.de/AAC/multichannel.html
-
-
Honestly to me the surround channel mapping clarity is very good with AAC 5.1 rather than dolby digital or DTS 5.1, since the signals are PCM audio like that of LCPM.
-
This problem would appear to be fixed in firmware 1.0.3 so I am un-stickying this thread.
-
Fixed ;)
-
so everything will work fine now on a yamaha rx-810
-
Fixed ;)
Still the AAC passthrough has not been fixed in the latest firmware 1.0.3. The audio output is still 2 channel only?? with my Yamah rx-v673.

Are you 100% certain your file is true AAC 5.1? Use MediaInfo to check?
My Yamaha RX-A710 is now playing AAC 5.1 and FLAC 5.1 perfectly with the latest firmware. Do you have all the audio settings on RAW?
-
Mine doesn't pass AAC 5.1 either. I'm running it through a Denon AVR X2200 and audio setting are on RAW.

the same here no aac 5.1 with pio sc-lx78
where is the difference with fw 101?

I have no problem with surround sound on my Onkyo HT-R558 (5.1).
Tested DTS, Dolby Digital, DTS-HD, TrueHD, DTS-MA.
Unlike other users, i had to set HDMI Output to Auto instead of RAW.

All the format you've listed works also for me.
Only HD and 5.1 FLAC are not played.
I've tried all the possible combination of HDMI settings...

Hi to everybody,
With the latest firmware 1.0.6, my Q10 pro with Yamaha receiver rx-v673 plays the AAC 5.1 with real PCM 5.1 output at-last. Thanks to the people who have contributed their effort to fix the bug.
Now DTS, True hd, DTS hdma, AAC 5.1 etc all plays well. 8) 8) 8)

HI...
just got my Q10 Pro. Just want to confirm with you guys.. did Q10 Pro really can decode/downmix dolby trueHD? I've tried every setting with no luck. My older Dune HD D1 player can decode the same movie without problem but not the Q10 Pro... Please advise

Can you clarify what it is you are trying to achieve? Passthrough TrueHD or downmix it to something else, if so what?

I'm trying to get Q10 to downmixed or decode Dolby trueHD to PCM. But when I set HDMI> LPCM... I get no sound.

decode Dolby trueHD to PCM is support by HiMediaVideoPlayer when container is m2ts, for mkv container use Kodi with builtin VideoPlayer(a.k.a DVDPlayer).

I Hope HimediaVideoplayer will support decode Dolby trueHD to PCM for MKV in next fw update.
