FW: HIMEDIA H8 OCTA. 16-OCT-2015. FIRMWARE HMD-1.0.7 FUTEKO-EN
H8 octa is connected via HDMI to the AV-Receiver.
PlayBack Options are HDMI Output -> HDMI and 1080P24Hz -> ON.
Source come from NAS with SMB share.
Same configuration (AV-Receiver, NAS, Flatscreen TV) runs with an old AC Ryan mediaplayer since one year without any problems!
Reason to change to H8 octa: AC Ryan does not support 3D-Iso and the GUI is slow.
If I play 24 Hz (not 23.976 Hz!) MKV movies, during 2.5 hours of play the movie freeze 9 times for 2-5 seconds but the audio go further.
(After the freeze the video continue 2-5 seconds later. This means audio is continuous but in the video these 2-5 seconds are missing.)

Does this happen if the content is played from locally attached storage?
I am thinking it might be a cache problem from the network. The H8 has a small cache which has resulted in reported buffering problems. 2-5 seconds is too long for this to be an AV hardware glitch. This problem is known to Himedia and they will fix it.

If I find time I will test it with USB3 hard-disk. The problem is, I have to watch some complete movies to give a reliable statement.
