Q5 Pro version to come tomorrow.

Why no more OTA updates?
Very annoying to have to reinstall and set everything up with every updates!
-
From what emerges from the Changelog the problem of the 720x575 aspect ratio has not been solved >:(
sin! http://www.futeko.com/newforum/index.php?topic=2576.0
I stay at the firmware 2.0.4
HiMedia Technicians do not take into account user reports and bugs.
-
What about the problem of not displaying part of the subtitles lines?
I do not see information about fixing this error in changelog.
-
Nothing is in the changelog that would matter to me that much. Part of it fixes just what the latest 2.0.7 has messed up, but not even all of them.
Audio slip, SD video playback and aspect ratio fixes would be the most important.
-
Why no more OTA updates?
Very annoying to have to reinstall and set everything up with every updates!
Since every new firmware introduces at least as many bugs as it solves, I'm not sure if we even want OTA upgrade ???
This post can be understood depending on the reader - as a joke to make your day or a reminder for people which are responsible for the player to get serious. Many issues reported seems not to be fixed, at least according to change log.

When it will be possible to play sacd.iso 5.1 on Himedia?

Still happy with 2.06, nothing of the two new FW are important for me. THX

Is 2.0.6 good with subtitles ?

For the problem of the aspect ratio @ 720x576 up to Firmware 2.0.4 it is OK

You can install via settings menu without losing anything (backup first just in case)

Firmware upgrade from Settings Menu (user data will not be cleared)

2.Plug the USB drive into an empty USB HOST on the SMART TV BOX.
3.Go to Settings?System?System upgrade to select/click the letter of the USB drive.
4.The SMART TV BOX will begin upgrading the firmware from the USB drive.
5. Wait for the SMART TV BOX to complete the upgrade. Please be patient as it may take around 5 minutes to complete.
6. When finished, The SMART TV BOX will auto reboot.

I think the team would not care, and this model is going to make a new. This version is still blocked.
-
Hello
Any point at all to upgrade from 2.0.6 ?
2.0.7 was a waste of time IMHO and I have the feeling this "new" release will be as well, so I'd rather stick to 2.0.6 if there are no added value and real fixes to serious issues in this player... (not saying there are, just in case there are some which I am not aware of)
Thx
-
When it will be possible to play sacd.iso 5.1 on Himedia?
Use UAPP, HibyMusic or NeutronMP
-
Any point at all to upgrade from 2.0.6 ?
If you are happy with 2.0.6 there is not much point updating to 2.0.8. 2.0.8 (and 2.0.7) are minor bug fix releases.
I continue to report the bugs mentioned in this thread to HiMedia.
-
I think the team would not care, and this model is going to make a new. This version is still blocked.
There is not going to be a new HiMedia model aimed at high-end video anytime soon. There is no new chipset on the horizon and that's what drives new models.

You can install via settings menu without losing anything
Futeko, can you verify that this method works? I spent hours last night installing 2.0.8 and then reinstalling and setting up every app!

Is there a way to directly contact HiMedia firmware programmers?
Thank you

When it will be possible to play sacd.iso 5.1 on Himedia?
Use UAPP, HibyMusic or NeutronMP
Ok, but the resolution will be 24 bit / 96 or 192 Khz ?
Otherwise is useless.
-
Futeko, can you verify that this method works? I spent hours last night installing 2.0.8 and then reinstalling and setting up every app!
No guarantee. It will depend on what apps you have installed.
2.0.8 does not make many changes so it will probably be OK going 2.0.7> 2.0.8. Certainly, it won't brick your box in a way that would not be recoverable by a full reset button firmware install.

Ok, but the resolution will be 24 bit / 96 or 192 Khz ?
Otherwise is useless.
It can play DSD64 using the internal media player (can't play .iso files). So theoretically it will be valid for DSD64 .iso files using these players. I have a USB DAC so I channel all my my music thru it all the way to DXD and DSD256.

Write please how the situation with subtitles. Does the firmware lose lines like 2.07?
In 2.06 subtitles are OK.
-
Still happy with 2.06, nothing of the two new FW are important for me. THX
Is 2.0.6 good with subtitles ?
Yes.
Displaying subtitles is broken in 2.07 firmware.

Thanks - I am curious if this got fixed on 2.0.8 - if somebody could test and report please - Much appreciated !!

Is there a way to directly contact HiMedia firmware programmers?
Thank you
I also join the request. Because Futeko positions itself as "only the reseller", we practically bought a product without real support. :o
Direct support at Himedia would be really appreciated...
Please and thank you.
-
In fact every new firmware "should" add new functions and correct any problems encountered, in this case the update would be a true up-grade of the device.
With the latest releases we are finding the opposite, that is introducing new problems, this makes me think of the lack of seriousness of HiMedia towards consumers and certainly does not contribute to the image of the product. >:(
I really can not understand this attitude, not to solve problems, by HiMedia.

Probably DTS-HD HR Broken is on your AVR FW if is was updated in last few month.
Onkyo, Newest Denon AVR are already in many place (https://github.com/Nevcairiel/LAVFilters/issues/167) report to have problems with DTS-HD HR.

Questions for Futeko and optionally for any member who have installed the latest 2.0.8 and would be that kind to reply:
Is the audio-slip issue solved?
Is the SD video playback issue solved?
Is the SD video aspect ratio issue solved?
Is the subtitle line issue solved?
Thank you!
-
If the changelog is not written, most likely these problems have not been resolved. >:(

Question.
2.0. 8 official firmware from the manufacturers?
We sent them a full Russian translation two months ago.
It was not apply.

Please, let someone write if the subtitles are displayed correctly.

hi, everybody!
i am from malaysia and have been reading this forum for a year now.
i have been using himedia boxes for >6years now; first one being q5ii non-emmc, latest one being q10pro for just about a year.
thanks for all the great tips, firmwares as well as cautionary notes.
overall, i am happy about himedia boxes and that's why i stick with them over the years.
i do a lot of playback with bdmv, hd audio on my home theater.
kodi, i used to like it a lot in the early days but now, just using it for quasar online streams where i can get dd/dd+ audio which is good.
i do not care about the library or nice thumbnail displays, just like to go straight to play the video with the native player.
i decided to register here today and make this maiden post becos i felt that firmware 2.0.8 is worth a mention - it is good!
i know most people here do not care about the 2.0.8 changelog but himedia has done something marvelous for users in southeast asia.
and i like to acknowledge that.
for years, they did not do it but a major competitor did, but finally it came through:
2.Optimization of APP compatibility?Myk+?
that was it. with this improvement, i am able to use a very popular app, an online app version of a local iptv provider.
Myk+ is for Vietnam which is great for them now, but it works also for Astrogo in Malaysia - that's what i wanted.
I suspect it also works for similar iptv providers in Thailand and Singapore but pls correct me if i am mistaken.
so, sometimes, it is impt to consider how himedia or any manufacturer for that matter, need to spend their resources on needs arising from different users in different parts of the world.
in summary, kudos to himedia for taking care of users in my part of the world!
and thank you futeko..com for the good work so far that i have benefited greatly from.
cheers.
-
It pleases me and I'm happy for these things that Himedia can do, but we must not leave unresolved problems that exist and are confirmed by users.
I say this because I believe HiMedia can do great things if he wants, and keep the prestige of his name high.

The subtitles seem OK on 2.08 ( in my case)

I haven't tried yet (because I am using sound coming from my TV) so I cannot say about the audio slip yet, but SUBTITLE issue is not yet resolved, subtitle lines with small timings, such as 1ms, are not displayed, randomly. I mean, some are, some, aren't.
I hope this helps.

2.0.6 did not have subs skipping problem; 2.0.7 did, and could not display idx/sub.
2.0.6 and 2..07 has virtual keyboard hanging problem.
2.0.8 fixed both these problems.

I meant subtitles .SRT. MediaPlayer in 2.07 firmware lost some lines. Is this repaired?

i have played a few tv epis with manual srt's - have not observed any problem with 2.0.8.
i remember v 2.0.3 had this srt subs skipping problem, fixed with 2.0.4.
then with 2.0.7, i was more concerned with idx/sub not displayed, did not pay much attention to the srt's.
so, i say both have been fixed by with 2.0.8.

futeko, re above changes in changelog, i like to ask about something, hope u can comment.
2.0.7 and previous... settings 2160p 60hz... q10pro->4k denon AVR->4k sharp tv.
when i played an online live tv app, the tv shows frame switching/dropping to 1080i 25/30/50hz.
and it stays there... i need to reset it to 2160p later.
with 2.0.8, it does not; it stays at 2160p 60hz.
but i do not notice any judder, it's good.
now, i am wondering if autoframe switching is not working for these livetv streams or if it is working the way it should - stay at 2160p for AVR/tv to upscale...??
thanks for any comment.

The subtitles seem OK on 2.08 ( in my case)
Does it mean that all lines are displayed? No one is lost?
As i reported some posts ago, SUBTITLE ISSUE NOT RESOLVED. Every other subtitle is not shown.
I opened the subtitle in Subtitle Workshop, at the given time of movie/serials when this happened, and ALL of the lines not shown are among the ones (many in my movie) that had 1ms (one millisecond - 0.001s) PAUSE between two subtitle lines.
In my case not all 1ms-pause-preceded lines were skipped, only SOME of them, si I do not understand this malfunction.
Maybe this Saturday, if I will have mode time, I will try to repeat-watch a movie to check wether or not the same lines are skipped, that is if this malfunction is precise and repeatable or random.
Cheers.
PS - I try toattach one of these subtitles, in Romanian in my case.
LATER EDIT - April 16 - INTOLERABLE, almost 50% of subtitle lines not shown, I REVERT TO 2.0.6. OFW.
-
Still no way to deactivate the subtitles for good without playing around with the language settings?

Again Himedia R&D Team / Company are NOT FIXING the Aspect ratio (16: 9) SD 720x576 Issue which appeared since some Firmware Generations in the past and was how often discussed and requested by your EU / DE Customers to be fixed as a major Issue?
This Bug makes the Q5 Pro / Q10 Pro Product unusable in EU Countries with 720x576 NORMAL SD 16:9 TV Aspect Ratios.
Well , i am speechless about such lowest Grade Customer Support.
No one cares at Himedia.
Means for me now:
This was the last Hardware i bought of that Company.
I will announce that shitty Customer Service on any DE EU Mediaplayer Hardware & Store Platform who mentions Himedia Q5 Pro & Q10 Pro and warn people from buying your Products.
This Himedia Company is only shocking me.
Entire Crap.

This Bug makes the Q5 Pro / Q10 Pro Product unusable in EU Countries with 720x576 NORMAL SD 16:9 TV Aspect Ratios.
I have sympathy with your general point, and I agree that this should have been fixed.
However the product is far from unusable. You can use any other media player app to play these files.. Kodi, MX Player, VLC etc. Nothing is forcing you to use Himediaplayer, it isn't even integrated into the product interface.
Q5/Q10 Pro is 2 years old and HiMedia continue to produce updates and fix bugs. This demonstrates a good level of after sales support.

HiMedia Player is the default player of the device and as such must be updated because it is an integral part of the product, when you buy it.
The fact that you can hinder other optional players, which work worse or better, and for me it works better the Himedia player, does not mean that the problem should not be solved.
I am still firm at fw 2.0.4, where this problem does not occur.

It's annoying as hell having to navigate through menus every single time a new movie is being watched.

Have a minor problem, really not serious, with both the Q5 and Q10, firmware 206 and up, possiibly earlier. when using an HDMI switcher, both a Yamaha high end AV receiver, and a basic switch, this always occurs when you switch to another hdmi source:
1) Switch away from the Himedia box
2) Return back
3) Instead of the app you had open, now showing firefox, with a new tab open.
4) switch away again
5) return, and there's *another* new firefox tab open.
each time you switch away and back, another new tab. I discovered this when I was testing my setup, and switched back and forth several times without really looking at the screen contents. I ended up with about eight tabs open.
Very consistent, happens all the time.

I have something similar, when trying to play a video from my USB and when I negotiate to the location of the film on the USB and press on it to play, up pops 2 tabs of firefox everytime, one of the firefox tabs need to be closed and the other tab needs be returned back then the movie behind will play in himedia player. Most annoying, does anyone else have this firefox popping up when playing a movie file from a USB source?

I emailed Himedia on the external .srt subtitle ramdom loss issue, and apparently they were not aware of it.
I have created a dummy .srt file that can be renamed to any movie name, in order to show the problem starting after 5 seconds. Please, could somebody using 2.08 test it ? I would like to send it to Himedia after.

I am not sure Futeko is reporting everything that is flagged here, but apparently they were not aware of the subtitle issue.
-
Again, if anybody with 2.0.7 or 2.0.8 could please test the enclosed .srt file and see if they get all subtitles to show every second (after 5 seconds), or if there are subtitle skips. I am running 2.0.6 and it works perfectly.
Just rename the enclosed file to the same name as any other video file (larger than 10seconds in duration), and the subtitle should show. I am looking for confirmation that the failure can be observed (some subtitles get skipped) so that I can pass it on to Himedia.
Thanks in advance !

Still no way to deactivate the subtitles for good without playing around with the language settings?
That would interest me too.
It's annoying as hell having to navigate through menus every single time a new movie is being watched.
Switching off sub-titles would be handy (as long as forced sub-titles then appeared). However, it is not a big deal to use the dedicated button on the remote to switch sub-titles off on playback. I often remux files to remove unwanted sub-titles and audio tracks as this is a relatively fast process with no transcoding required.
-
I may be wrong, but i first time observed the subtitle lines skip in 2.0.7. It seemed to me that it was present every now and then, not extremely bothersome.
The issue affected the liens with 1ms millisecond) pause between lines.
The issue clearly appeared to me as accentuated in 2.0.8, where MORE than every other line was missing.
COMING BACK TO 206, it seems to me that the issue is NOT present at all, all subtitle lines aer showing.
I will not upgrade anymore.
Just my 2 cents

Since I got no responses I actually upgraded to 2.0.8 for testing purposes and was able to reproduce the issue only if the subtitles overlap. I have created a new file that I sent to Himedia this morning (enclose if anybody else wants to test).
I then rolled back to 2.0.6 and indeed the problem does not manifest on that version. I am too staying on 2.0.6 until there is a permanent fix for now.
regards.

I installed CFW 2.08 yesterday (the paper clip method). I have enough! What newer software - the more errors and problems :( (stop the launcher, problems with xvid video, long start of the player, poor response to remote control) I went back to the version CFW 2.06 using the paperclip method, and I think it will stay like that. that it's a finished player, it's all the time any alpha or beta software. Time to sell it, and look for something better :( Thank you for the possibility of downloading older versions of the firmware. [google translator]

Thanks for feedback sound like didn't have patient to wait for finishing install of all apps in first boot then player be come proper responsive, this can take up to 15 minutes after HiMedia launcher is display in first boot. Latter start will be run in normal time up to 30 seconds.
Xvid video problems is a know bug on OFW v2.0.7/2.0.8 and are not intend try to avoid/fix it in CFW.

It's not like you write. I know that the first time you need to give the player time to install the application and organize the system. After two hours and a few starts, it still jams, starts movies too long. Something is wrong. In addition, the message "Launcher 3D has stopped working" pops up. I did not install anything, I did not even sign in to Google. When attempting to remotely switch off, the clock on the display hangs up, and the background on the tv screen turns gray. I tried for several hours, no improvement. Staying with version 2.06, this version somehow works and after 15 minutes from the first start, everything is correct. Sadly, Himedia does not respect its customers.
How does the alternative firmware work, (unofficial_ATV [v2.3]) - HMD-2.0.6 2017-10-25.164125), is it worth installing?

Again, if anybody with 2.0.7 or 2.0.8 could please test the enclosed .srt file and see if they get all subtitles to show every second (after 5 seconds), or if there are subtitle skips. I am running 2.0.6 and it works perfectly.
Just rename the enclosed file to the same name as any other video file (larger than 10seconds in duration), and the subtitle should show. I am looking for confirmation that the failure can be observed (some subtitles get skipped) so that I can pass it on to Himedia.
Thanks in advance !
subtitle work fine for me, chinese srt or ass work fine

bluray menu is not in the update, need to manually install

I don't know about other types of subtitles, but srt ones definitely skips lines , on and off.

I tried to decompress the file downloaded with both WinRAR and 7-zip, and both got the update.zip and readme.txt files
The USB stick must contain only the file update.zip
-
USB stick MUST be formated with FAT32, NOT ntfs or other. .....
-
Still no subtitle off option, right? And no 10 seconds skipping during playback, why not? Is it hard to implement?

Why no more OTA updates?
Very annoying to have to reinstall and set everything up with every updates!
You can install via settings menu without losing anything (backup first just in case)
"
Firmware upgrade from Settings Menu (user data will not be cleared)
1.Download a new firmware and place the firmware onto the ROOT directory of a USB drive.
"
Does it work without loosing all data? For sure?
I would be nice

From what I read in the forum it is always advisable to perform the update with the "clip" method and reset button to then restore the Kodi bakup.
What I do not understand, why is the method of updating via OTA and when is it advisable to use it? :-\
Thank you

Have a minor problem, really not serious, with both the Q5 and Q10, firmware 206 and up, possiibly earlier. when using an HDMI switcher, both a Yamaha high end AV receiver, and a basic switch, this always occurs when you switch to another hdmi source:
each time you switch away and back, another new tab. I discovered this when I was testing my setup, and switched back and forth several times without really looking at the screen contents. I ended up with about eight tabs open.
Very consistent, happens all the time.
ANY response to this problem report?
