Q10 Pro power failure
« on: December 14, 2019, 10:24:19 AM »
My Q10 up and quit on me today, but a faint red light kept flashing every 3 seconds or so.
Is there an internal power block on these or is it just the low grade power cord that it came with.
Is there a decent replacement for it?    I have been running this box for 4 years,  at least 5 hours a
day between 5 of us in the house.

bought this thing today.    says switches from 5V to 12V up to 1300mA.
original ac plug shown above says 12V 2000mA.     50/60 Hz 0.7A.
q10 specs sheet says power=5V 2A.

so will the new adapter work with it or not?   Any help would be appreciated.

From FAQ:

* Q5/Q10 Pro PSU type? You can use any 12V 1.5A+ PSU (up to 4A). Tip size is 5.5 x 2.1 with center pin positive.

I don't recommend running Q10 Pro with a 1.3A PSU. You'll have problems with internal and attached HDDs. 2A should is a sensible minimum.

i found a 12v 2000mA adapter,   ran good for a day or so, today after watching netflix for 2 hours, froze, green screen and won't boot any more.   stuck on logo screen.

Can you point to a link for the exact PSU you bought?

How many HDDs do you have attached to the Q10 Pro?

The same happened to me this weekend  >:( . Replaced the power supply with:

https://amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B07PFTNGHH/

UK plug with 1.2m lead, 12V 2A/2000mA Power Supply Adapter, standard DC5 5.5mm/2.1mm jack with inner +ve.

at £9.66 and it works!

I got one of these:

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/400947959327

A bit expensive but works fine. All power related issues have vanished.

I have also been using the 12V / 5A power supply for two years. it's ok. I have an internal 3 TB hard drive. I recommend this power supply.
I'm writing in English with little google help :)

That looks ideal. Did the tip of the power supply connect straight into the receiver?

I bought a Himedia Q10 pro. and when I received it I found they had sent it with a power supply that had a 2 pin plug, instead of a 3 pin UK plug.

I contacted Geekbuying and they suggested I find a power supply, so I'll either have to return the receiver to China, or find something that works.

I'm guessing some kind of 2 pin to UK 3 pin adapter would also work?

Do you have the same one laager bought, or a different one? After 2 years it would appear your PSU is ideal for the Q10.
