The S912 chipset is well known for it's poor Kodi performance. Check out Kodi forum hardware section. If you really want to go down the cheap c**p route then S905X is much better. Get one of those running LibreELEC and it will work great for most Kodi streaming addons.
Till last week I owned a Philips Android tv. Kodi installed on that set worked acceptable, but it became a disaster for 4K movies. Philips' software is and stays buggy. I had the chance to change it for a 3 year old non-Android 4K Sony. So now I need a good mediaplayer. Because the S912 doesn't deliver good picture, but the Vu+ streams and HDMI-CEC work well on it and the picture quality of the streams is better as eg. a Raspberry pi, I could use that S912 on the TV set in my working room. (It's a 40" Full-HD, so that picture coming from the S912 is good enough for the 40" TV)
The HiMedia now...
I could connect it to my Sony 4K on which I don't need the Vu+ streams (the Vu+ itself is directly connected to that TV), so forget PVR addons on the HiMedia.
What I want to do now on that HiMedia:
Playing back full HD, 4K and 3D movie files
stutterfree(most of them are MP4 and MKV), with DTS and AC3 sound. I download the subs using Kodi subtitle downloader and sometimes need to synchronise them.
At last, I also use some streaming addons of Kodi.
On that TV I have, beside the Mediaplayer, 2 devices connected which must be controlled by HDMI-CEC (Soundbar, etc). Connecting HiMedia blocks all the other CEC commands and HiMedia doesn't accept a single CEC command.
So, now you have a good overview of the targets I wanna do on my (HiMedia) mediaplayer. Is this possible with this Q5pro whithout stuttering, problems or whatelse?
If yes, I would get very grateful if someone could tell me which firmware I have to use and wich version of Kodi (or SPMC)
