Q5 pro cant find 5ghz wifi
« on: August 31, 2016, 01:09:38 PM »
Hi all,
My q5 pro cant seem to find my 5ghz wifi,only the 2.4 ghz one.
Can't find the problem,and setting doesn't give me the opportunity to change to 5ghz manualy.
According to the vendor,q5 pro comes with a built in dual channel wifi 802.11 ac and should be able to find the 5ghz wifi.
Can anybody help me pls.

No Problem here with 5Ghz Wifi

To make sure where the Problem comes from.....is your 5Ghz Wifi visible in other Devices ?
Maybe its not visible or activated, i think its a Router Problem

Thx, but it's no router problem as al of my other devices see the 5 ghz perfectly even on the exact same spot as the q5 pro is standing.
Laptops smartphones and tablets,even my zidoo x6.

I think you might have the Chinese hardware version. The Chinese Q5 Pro only has 2.4Ghz wi-fi.

If you've been sold it as European/international version I advise sending it back. Not sure how the vendor has managed to get European firmware running on Chinese hardware but however they've done it, it won't survive future firmware updates. With both Q5 and Q10 Pro there are internal hardware differences between Chinese and European versions.

Q5 Pro Chinese hardware: http://item.jd.com/2720522.html

Compared to European/international Q5 Pro (as we sell), Chinese Q5 Pro:

* Has 2.4 Ghz Wi-Fi only. No 5Ghz.
* Lacks Bluetooth.
* Adds an external SATA port.
* Usually has the Chinese HiMedia logo on the top with Chinese writing.
* Runs a completely different firmware designed mainly for Chinese streaming services.
* European Q5 Pro firmware cannot be installed on Chinese hardware and vice versa.

Q10 Pro Chinese hardware: http://item.jd.com/2578655.html

Compared to European/international Q10 Pro (as we sell), Chinese Q10 Pro:

* Has only 8GB storage (vs 16GB for European/international version)
* Is externally identical.
* Runs a completely different firmware designed mainly for Chinese streaming services.
* European Q10 Pro firmware cannot be installed on Chinese hardware and vice versa.

Hi, no its has bluetooth and is definitely the European version.
I guess its just one of those blue Monday manufactory issues.
I'll send it back to the vendor and have them check it out.
Thx anyway.

Try changing the wireless channel on your router. I had an android stick once that couldn't see any of the higher channels.

Worth a try.  :)

http://www.radio-electronics.com/info/wireless/wi-fi/80211-channels-number-frequencies-bandwidth.php

Looking at the table it is a simplified implementation as Dynamic Frequency Allocation is apparently not implemented.
DFA is a nice feature adjusting to a good band where possible.
