Funny thing is HiMedia's website haven't even posted this update on their own website. I wonder why? Maybe this site is testing before global release?

Listen dude I had a similar problem and eventually I had to bite the bullet and reinstall the factory firmware using the reset button in the back. Guess what it worked ;) No different than a PC that goes berserk! It's a 5 minute job on an android box so try it and you might be amazed...FYI Futeko doesn't work for Hi-Media...he's a reseller so he's just trying to help.

HiMedia Q10 Pro, Q5 Pro / Re: Happycast apk name
« on: February 01, 2018, 05:30:36 PM »
I haven't found a file with this name in the FW 2.0.7 update.zip.
Anyways thank you very much for the link. My Problem is solved :)

I extracted the update.zip completely in windows 10 and I found the apk...was in an apps folder

Thank you very much. One quick question...when downloading an app from apk mirror and the app offers arm and arm64 which version should I use for best compatibility? Thanks.

HiMedia Q10 Pro, Q5 Pro / YouTube version on Q5/10 vs. Play store version
« on: January 28, 2018, 10:06:00 PM »
I noticed that the versions on the himedia box and the play store of YouTube are completely different. There is no update option in the play store but merely an install which installs a separate version of YouTube so that 2 versions exist on the box now. Is the one on the himedia box been modified vs what is in the play store? Any advantages to using the play store version? Thanks for any assistance.

I didn't have the same issue but Firefox is definitely doing something as my Q5 box slows down significantly when I used it before...i got rid of it and sticking with chrome for now. Not sure if it's your issue but worth a try.

Great list. Thank you very much and will certainly try some of these alternative apps. Cheers

It's in the FAQ sticky section under Kodi General.

Disable Himedia player wrapper in the meantime and play everything through Kodi. AVI xvid etc. error here too as well. Downloaded shitty Kodi build to get 5.1 pass-through. You can always go back to v2.0.6 firmware in the meantime as a workaround but yes it is annoying.

HiMedia Q10 Pro, Q5 Pro / Re: Retain Kodi configuration during FW upgrade

Worked perfect for me.

Is also all the same with your Kodi?
I use a Kodi build that I do not want to lose.

I did a backup of Kodi using the backup add on in Kodi...however everything seemed to be in place after the upgrade with Kodi so I didn't need to do anything.

Follow the steps below first and should work fine.

1. USB drive MUST BE FORMATTED as FAT32...format it in windows
2. Copy update file to the root of the USB drive
3. Filename MUST be update.zip ....if not already that name rename the file and make sure NO other files exist on that USB except the update zip file

Whist the recommended upgrade is always a full install using the "pin method", I find incremental upgrades (such as from 2.0.5 to 2.0.6) are handled well by simply going to "Settings/Upgrade/Local" from a USB flash drive (FAT32) as this keeps all the settings on the box  :)
Always back up Kodi first, however.  The add-on works fine backing up to a plug-in SD card or USB drive.

Did you update this time from 2.0.6 to 2.0.7 using the "Local Update" method? Does it work flawlessly?

Worked perfect for me.

When you run the .bat file and choose a setting, I chose 3 min, Is it just supposed to flash by real quick and close the cmd window ?

If so I dont think it's working on 2.0.6 Custom, I left my box idle for up to an hour and HDD was still spinning.

Make sure you run the command from a command prompt and not double click on the batch file.

Cant the firmware be upgraded via regular usb stick? Do we have to press that update button on the box and shit?

No just follow the instructions below from HiMedia's site using method 2...if you run into problems use method 1 but method 2 worked for me. Remember to make sure the USB thumb drive is formatted as FAT32 and the filename is update.zip in the root of the drive with nothing else on that USB drive

METHOD 1
Firmware Upgrade by Recovery Mode (user data will be cleared)

1.Download a new firmware and place the firmware onto the ROOT directory of a USB drive.

2. Plug the USB drive into an empty USB HOST on the SMART TV BOX.

3.With the SMART TV BOX turned off,use a paper clip or pen point to press and hold the small pinhole restore button on the SMART TV BOX

4.While pressing the restore button, turn on the SMART TV BOX. Continue to hold the restore button for 5 more seconds, then release it.

5.The SMART TV BOX will begin upgrading the firmware from the USB drive.

6. Wait for the SMART TV BOX to complete the upgrade. Please be patient as it may take around 5 minutes to complete.

7. When finished, The SMART TV BOX will auto reboot.

METHOD 2
Firmware upgrade from Settings Menu (user data will not be cleared)

1.Download a new firmware and place the firmware onto the ROOT directory of a USB drive.

2.Plug the USB drive into an empty USB HOST on the SMART TV BOX.

3.Go to Settings?System?System upgrade to select/click the letter of the USB drive.

4.The SMART TV BOX will begin upgrading the firmware from the USB drive.

5. Wait for the SMART TV BOX to complete the upgrade. Please be patient as it may take around 5 minutes to complete.

6. When finished, The SMART TV BOX will auto reboot.
