HiMedia Q10 Pro, Q5 Pro / Re: Android TV Custom Firmware Q10 Pro

Hi Dutchie. Yes the scanning band has disappeared for me completely. I've watched 3 movies and been using tivimate for IPTV and haven't noticed the white scanning band anymore. It used to be quite bad when powering up the Q5 Pro as the scanning effect would happen 4-5 times upon every reboot of the box as well. All I did was uninstall the latest update for the google app in the pcrisiti image and set everything to manual so I control all updates.

Thank you pcristi your suggestion seems to have fixed the problem. I will update manually from now on the android apps and not update the Google app.

Is there anyone who has this white band scanning effect? ? ? Very curious how to disable it.

I'm certain most people do including those with the Q5 Pro like me. It's very frustrating to see that white band appear out of nowhere and then disappear. There's no rhyme or reason for this and I can't figure out when this started as I had it with 2.15 and now with 2.17. Anyway Dutchie53 if I find something I'll post here but nothing I've tried seems to work....perhaps pcristi can shed some light?

I’ve started having an issue while watching movies in the video player or even if the system is on the main screen with all the icons, I get a quick white band that goes around the frame of the TV and quickly disappears. Almost like something is refreshing the screen and I get a quick white band in all four corners and it’s gone again. This also happens when I power up the Q5 pro and the main screen appears..I get 3 or 4 times this white band displays and gone again. Anyone else experienced this or maybe an idea of how to stop this from happening?

Pcrisiti is right. My mother had the same issue and she would unplug the Q5 pro and the TV for 5 minutes. Then she powered on the TV FIRST, sets the correct video input on TV and applies power to the box at which point all is good. She has narrowed down the issue to not having the TV on FIRST and on the correct video INPUT. TV power first, check video input on TV and then power on Q5 Pro. Not bad for an 80 year old grandma to figure out this technology :)

Pcristi, I noticed a new version 2.16 for ATV on your mediafire site. Can this be dirty flashed over 2.15.3 or must the paperclip method be used to ensure proper install of ATV version 2.16. Thanks very much.

I have been using update_Q10Pro_(update&themed&Kodi18.2)[v1.2]-HMD-2.1.4 2019-05-31.171152
Can I install this?
I've tried but after seeing the Android logo, it turns into a dead logo.

I installed the Q5 Pro version and it works awesome!!! No complaints BUT to get it to work you have to do the following below exactly or at least in my case I did it this way.

1. Download latest version for your box from here.. http://www.mediafire.com/file/t2d1heh5a5om0rq/update_Q10Pro_%2528unofficial_ATV%255Bv2.15.3%255D%2529-HMD-2.1.5_2019-12-10.113757.zip/file

2. Format USB stick FAT32... NOTE: Not all USB's work as I found out so I had to try 3 different ones until I found one it liked. Seems like 8GB or bigger sticks work well for me...all my 4GB sticks failed despite formatting dozens of times

3. Copy the file to the stick and rename the file to update.zip ...VERY VERY important or it won't work. Double check the filename after you change to make sure it's correct using windows properties

4. Plug USB into available USB port on your device

5. Use paperclip to hold in the reset button and while holding the reset button plug the power into your device and don't let go of the reset button for 5 seconds

6. Sit back and wait about 15 minutes for the whole process to complete

Good Luck

I'm wondering if anyone has had any experiences using a microphone with pcristi custom android tv firmware. I'd like to take advantage of the google assistant within certain apps and want to purchase a microphone (USB mode, alternate remote etc,) that is known to work with the HiMedia Q5 Pro. Thanks for any assistance.

Yes install pcristi CFW Android tv and then install tivimate app. Records live iptv stream perfectly. I believe GSE IPTV app does as well but tivimate is much better and for 6 dollars a year for 5 devices is well worth it.

When you say screen resolution are you talking about choosing resolution on your TV itself or on the Q5 settings menu...and which setting did you choose. Thanks.

I installed this firmware and it works great without any frequency patches on my system. It doesn't come with this particular patch preinstalled as the only patch that is pre-installed is the KODI version Hi-Frequency. Regardless I haven't enabled any patches and so far works like a charm...I even have 24hz turned off in the HI-Media settings as it works better with it turned off. As a side note I'm running a 5.1 system with a non 4K TV. Nothing fancy but it works well with my 12 year old Sony Home Theatre Receiver.

@atkinsom you can give a try of fritschfiretv build.
More then 3 years archive of test-builds

Thanks pcristi. I tested the firetv version and it didn't correct the issue. I reimaged the box and downloaded the last version of shitty Kodi in March from your link above and did an upgrade on the installed version in your firmware image. Everything works perfect now with IPTV streams. Thanks very much.

I'm streaming IPTV using this build and it works very well with KODI 18.6, Tivimate and GSE. The only issue I have is that AC3 5.1 IPTV streams are only playing in stereo 2.0. Is this a result of the hardware that will only play surround sound 5.1 through the Himedia player? If so is there a Kodi build or other software I can use that will allow 5.1 IPTV streams to work on this box? Looks like shitty builds are gone. Thanks for any assistance.
