Mele PCG03 / [VIDEO] Mele PCG03 vs MeegoPad T01 vs Zotac Pico PI-320. Passmark.
« on: February 03, 2015, 11:06:09 AM »
This video shows Passmark results for the Mele PCG03 and two other Bay Trail Z3735F PCs, the MeeGoPad T01 and Zotac Pico PI-320.
MeeGoPad T01 is a very cheap Chinese no-brand dongle available re-badged under various names. It is renowned for running very hot, as shown in the results here! It ships with unlicensed tablet Windows 8.1. It's cheap for many reasons and not recommended! We include it here because it is often cited for it's price.
Zotac Pico PI-320 was the first Z3735F PC to market and is a quality product with licensed Windows 8.1. Zotac have a long history in media PCs.

The first thing to note from the results is that the Mele PCG03 outscores the other two in every test, achieving an overall result 23-31% higher than the others.
This is split up into:
CPU: + 0.9-25.0%
2D Graphics: + 11.3-21.3%
3D Graphics: + 44.3-44.6%.
Memory: + 9.8-22.2%.
Disk: + 1.3-9.8%.
We were surprised that the Mele did so well, and exactly why is open to question.
One factor must be that the Mele runs cooler. It has superior heat control. This will enable the CPU (1.33Ghz - 1.83Ghz variable) and GPU to run at closer to maximum speed. This doesn't explain the much better disk and memory scores though. All three products use different SSDs, so it looks like Mele have used a higher quality eMMC SSD. We think it's probable that Mele have also used faster RAM.
Summary is that despite the 3 products appearing to have similar / identical harwdare, the Mele PCG03 is substantially faster.
