This video shows Passmark results for the Mele PCG03 and two other Bay Trail Z3735F PCs, the MeeGoPad T01 and Zotac Pico PI-320.

MeeGoPad T01 is a very cheap Chinese no-brand dongle available re-badged under various names. It is renowned for running very hot, as shown in the results here! It ships with unlicensed tablet Windows 8.1. It's cheap for many reasons and not recommended! We include it here because it is often cited for it's price.

Zotac Pico PI-320 was the first Z3735F PC to market and is a quality product with licensed Windows 8.1. Zotac have a long history in media PCs.

The first thing to note from the results is that the Mele PCG03 outscores the other two in every test, achieving an overall result 23-31% higher than the others.

This is split up into:

CPU: + 0.9-25.0%
2D Graphics: + 11.3-21.3%
3D Graphics: + 44.3-44.6%.
Memory: + 9.8-22.2%.
Disk: + 1.3-9.8%.

We were surprised that the Mele did so well, and exactly why is open to question.

One factor must be that the Mele runs cooler. It has superior heat control. This will enable the CPU (1.33Ghz - 1.83Ghz variable) and GPU to run at closer to maximum speed. This doesn't explain the much better disk and memory scores though. All three products use different SSDs, so it looks like Mele have used a higher quality eMMC SSD. We think it's probable that Mele have also used faster RAM.

Summary is that despite the 3 products appearing to have similar / identical harwdare, the Mele PCG03 is substantially faster.  ;D

HiMedia Q5/Q10 4K3D (2014 Generation) / Update patch to enable TrueHD ATMOS
« on: February 02, 2015, 09:39:25 AM »
Update patch to enable TrueHD ATMOS support on Q5 and Q10 4K3D: http://www.mediafire.com/download/8vxqqm5ja9svvie/update.zip

It doesn't need a new firmware install, just go to SETTINGS - UPGRADE - LOCAL UPGRADE and select the update zip.

260
The instructions below give 7.1 audio passthrough and 3D-ISO support in any version of XBMC or Kodi on the HiMedia Q5/Q10/M3 4K3D

It has been tested as working on all versions of XBMC/Kodi/SPMC 13.4 through to 17. It replaces the internal video player in Kodi with the HiMedia video player app.

Once installed the HiMedia player will be the default video playback device in Kodi. If you want to use the internal Kodi player then you can by pressing the menu button (on remote or mouse middle button) and choosing 'Play using'.

It may work with an existing install of XBMC / Kodi but if it doesn't then you'll need to reinstall and run the patch on a fresh install.

Install instructions:

Firmware 3.0.2 and later

1. Run KODI, and then exit KODI by click the EXIT icon.
2. Go to 'My Apps' from home menu. Find 'Wrapper' app and run it.
3. In the top left corner you'll see 'playercorefactory not installed'. Select the check box below to 'install playercorefactory'.
3. Run KODI and you should now have 7.1 audio and 3D-ISO support.

Firmware earlier than 3.0.2

1. Run KODI, and then exit KODI by click the EXIT icon.
2. Download and install http://www.mediafire.com/download/73ydkv281c8dexr/himediaWrapper.apk.
3. Run the newly installed app. In the top left corner you'll see 'playercorefactory not installed'. Select the check box below to 'install playercorefactory'.
3. Run KODI and you should now have 7.1 audio and 3D-ISO support.

Uninstall instructions:

Install ES File Explorer and change settings-display so you can view hidden files. Navigate to sdcard/Android/data/org.xbmc.kodi/files/.kodi/userdata/. Delete the playercorefactory.xml file.

FAQ

* Drive mount location? All apps except the HiMedia file browser and player use Android file structure. All directories and locations are subdirectories of root, which is symbolised as /. External drives are located at /mnt/sda/sda1 (Q10 internal HDD only) and  /mnt/sdb/sdb1 then /mnt/sdb/sdb2 etc (all USB drives).

* Drive mount location in Kodi? Root file system - /mnt/sda/sda1 (Q10 internal HDD only) and root file system - /mnt/sdb/sdb1 then /mnt/sdb/sdb2 etc (all USB drives).

* How to make Kodi launch on startup? For firmware 3.0.2 and later, go to apps menu from home screen. Using remote, press menu key when hovering over app. You will see an option for 'default start'. Alternatively, there are several free apps in Play Store designed to do this. We recommend Autostart and Stay!: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.atasoglou.autostartandstay&hl=en_GB

* Maximum image sharpness? For maximum image sharpness Q5/Q10/M3 screen scale should be set to maximum and your TV/projector should be set to Screen Fit. On the Q5/Q10/M3 go Settings - Display - Screen Size Position and set all dimensions to the largest possible. Settings for your TV/projector will differ according to brand, but on a Samsung TV press the P.SIZE button on remote until you get to 'Screen Fit'.

* Stop navigation bar from popping up when mouse cursor at bottom of screen (firmware 3.0.2 only, Q5/Q10/M3) Install this update file: http://www.mediafire.com/download/c4gb03d2p3suc67/update.zip To install copy file to USB stick and go Settings - Upgrade - Local upgrade. It will only remove the navigation bar and make no other changes to your setup.

* Make internet streams play using Kodi internal player (dvdplayer) whilst local video plays using wrapper? Install ES File Explorer and change settings-display so you can view hidden files. Navigate to sdcard/Android/data/org.xbmc.kodi/files/.kodi/userdata/ and replace playercorefactory.xml file with this version: http://www.mediafire.com/view/9h5dr4kc4e9e30a/playercorefactory.xml

FAQ

Q: First use? Provide the A2K with power and plug it into an HDMI port. You will get a screen with the mode in top left corner (e.g. 'Miracast') and a box in the middle saying 'Status: Waiting for connection'. The A2K should be visible to your sending device as a Miracast device with name 'VCAST-XXXXXX'.

Q: Switching between Miracast and DLNA? The hole on the side of the dongle marked 'Miracast/DLNA' contains a switch at it's base. Use a pin / pen to push this switch.

Q: Changing settings? Switch the A2K into DLNA mode. You'll see a message with a URL (something like http://192.168.49.1/) in the bottom left corner of the screen. Visit this URL using the sending device's web browser.

Q: Output resolution? The A2K outputs at a fixed 720p 60Hz. Most TVs will be OK with this, but please check your TV before purchasing.

Q: The sending device can see the A2K ('VCAST-XXXXXX') but nothing on the TV? The A2K outputs at 720p 60Hz. If your Miracast sending device can see the A2K but you see nothing on the TV then it is most likely that your TV doesn't like the 7200p 60Hz signal. To test this try another TV. The resolution and refresh rate on the A2K are fixed.

FAQ

Q: Initial setup? After you've inserted the A2W / A2W II into your TV and provided it with power you will be presented with a screen containing a wifi SSID and password. Install the EZCast software on your Android smartphone, iOS device, PC, or MAC. It is available in Play Store for Android, the Appple Store for iOS, or from here for PC/MAC. Install and run the EZCast software, it will connect to your A2W / A2W II and allow you to use your phone/tablet/PC/Mac to navigate the menus on your TV.

Q: Enabling DLNA? Run EZCast on a sending device and connect to the A2W / A2W II. Select DLNA from the main menu. The A2W / A2W II will now appear as a Media Renderer to compatible DLNA devices.

Q: Enabling Miracast? Run EZCast on a sending device and connect to the A2W. Select EZMirror from the main menu. Select 'On'. You will see the EZMirror screen on the TV giving you 60 seconds to initialise the Miracast connection. Within the 60 seconds enable Miracast on the sending device. The sending device should see the A2W and connect.

Q: Miracast when the sending device and the mirror device are the same? If you want to mirror from the same Android device used to run EZCast you will need to exit EZCast after putting the A2W / A2W II into EZMirror mode and find the Miracast (called 'Screen Mirroring' on Samsung) option in your phone/tablet settings.

Q: Compatibility with Android devices? For the A2W / A2W II to work at all with an Android phone/tablet you need to be able to download the EZCast App from Play Store. You can check this by going into Play Store on your phone/tablet and searching 'EZCast'. With the EZCast app installed you will be able to access the media sending features of the A2W.

Q: Compatibility with Miracast? The availability of Miracast screen mirroring is dependent on having Android 4.2+ and the implementation of Miracast in your sending device. We have no definitive list of which devices are compatible and which are not. Miracast is a young technology implemented slightly differently by different device manufacturers. Check forums and the EZCast Play Store comments for latest info.

Q: Problems With Airplay Mirroring? To get to the "MIRRORING" on/off slider switch, you must swipe upwards on the AirPlay popup window to see the button which is just under it. It's hidden at the bottom (the AirPlay window is too small).

Q: Where to find the latest A2W firmware? Updates to the A2W / A2W II are OTA (over the air) and are handled by the dongle itself. Go to 'Update' in the A2W settings screen.

Q: Best place for technical support? Please feel free to email us, but bear in mind that we have a limited number of devices for testing (i.e. not every model of phone/tablet/PC/Mac). The settings and menus for Miracast/Airplay are different for each device. A better place to post technical questions is on the EZCast Support Forum. This is the support forum for the chipset used inside the A2W / A2W II and it's software. These people are the ones writing the software and the ones who'll be best able to answer complex technical questions. There is also a good help section with videos on the EZCast site. If posting on the EZCast forum please give details of your setup, particularly the sending device being used.
