Zidoo Realtek 1619DR / Re: New Fimware for Z9X available
« on: April 20, 2023, 05:43:01 PM »
The new firmware hasn't corrected the half speed problem when playing back videos with the 24bit 96khz audio selected when using a usb connected dac. (optical plays these files back ok at 24-96 this was solved in the previous firmware update). Please inform the Zidoo software/firmware engineers.

Update the new firmware has fixed the 96khz playback when using the inbuilt media player and playing back videos and Pure Audio Blurays using the optical output but has not fixed it when the usb audio is used which is still playing back at what seems like half speed.

Unfortunately the new firmware still hasn't corrected the slow playback when playing music videos with a 96khz audio track via the inbuilt media player. This has been the case for at least the last three firmwares An earlier firmware correctly playback the 96KHZ audio track unfortunately I can't remember which one it was. Can the firmware design engineers from Zidoo fix this problem please.

Zidoo Realtek 1619DR / New Fimware for Z9X available

A new firmware is available to download for the Z9X only -  v6.4.60 this is a usb install and I believe a beta version which I have found generally to be OK in the past apart from occasional problems like I had last time of half speed playback when I selected a 96khz audio playback for some music video files (I think this was alsothe case for the previous firmware), lets hope this is fixed.

I bought one of the first Q10Pro's many years ago from futeko (always had good service), at first the firmware was a little bit wanting for correct playback of 4K HDR but over the years particularly with the Custom Firmwares (which I still use) playback improved. I have since purchased an Nvidia Shield and a Zidoo Z9X (again purchased from futeko) both of which are very good, the Zidoo is particularly good at 4K Dolby Vision (the main reason I bought it). But today I just reinstated the HiMedia out of interest after around a year of not  using it at all and was very pleasantly surprised at how good media playback was still, in fact it was on par with both the Nvidia and Zidoo. The HiMedia is still up there, it's a pity they haven't got any quality new models with more modern chipsets available like the old Q10Pro.

Zidoo Realtek 1619DR / Re: Z9X Problem with latest beta firmware

Amendment to my above post its not running at double speed but half speed. It appears the video is also running at half speed. This is when I select a bluray audio to play back at 96khz but the attached dac whether its usb or optical connected shows it playing at 48khz. so its not switching over to the higher sampling rate even though that is what I have selected. I don't think I ran into this problem with earlier firmwares. When set to 48khz all is ok.

Zidoo Realtek 1619DR / Z9X Problem with latest beta firmware
« on: November 29, 2022, 06:22:41 AM »
I am using a Z9X with the latest beta firmware and found that when I play the soundtrack of bluray audios within the zidoo media player set to LPCM 2.0 96khz that the sound plays back at double speed. If I change to the 48khz soundtrack all is well.

I am presently using a 10amp linear power supply which is a bit overkill but it was spare and of the correct voltage. Really enjoyed watching a film in Dolby Vision last night with excellent results.

Zidoo Realtek 1619DR / Just bought my first Zidoo media player
« on: February 27, 2022, 07:17:51 AM »
I have recently been using an Nvidia Shield Pro and results were generally very good apart from  Dolby Vision support and the recent update to Android 11 which had many problems. On checking various Forums and media player reviews I decided to give Zidoo a go mainly due to its 4K menu support and Dolby Vision support. I decided to go down the Zidoo Z9X route as all the players had the same video engine albeit with slight ram changes and my main interest was film playback (not music playback for which I use other equipment).
My initial impressions on unboxing was what a poor mains adapter I just couldn't get the plug arrangement to work and the minor problem lack of batteries for the remote. Surely in this day and age a proper mains adapter for the country could be included or a better designed multi type of connecter setup of which there are many so much better.
Moving on to the positives I am very pleased how the box operates particularly handling of 4K menus and Dolby Vision support and also the picture quality. Initially I thought the picture quality was a little soft and lacking in color pop but with some adjustments and with some running in time it is now fine, possibly just a little bit better than the Nvidia Shield.
So at the moment I am pleased with my purchase of the Zidoo Z9X and appreciate the rapid delivery from Futeko but please get a better power adapter.

The old chipset and old dacs I thought was against the Zappiti but I didn't know anything about how good their software was which is often the the make or break about deciding on which media box to get.  Thanks for your comments.

Does anyone have any thoughts re Dune HD Max Vision 4K v. Zappiti Pro 4K HDR media boxes, which offers the best value and features particularly regarding operating software and Dolby Vision in particular?

HiMedia Q10 Pro, Q5 Pro / Re: Q5/Q10 Pro Custom Firmware
« on: May 26, 2021, 06:14:09 AM »
Just changed to Custom firmware Lite 2.1.7 finding it excellent better for me than the fuller version which I have used in the past. Is it recommended to update Kodi to the newer version 19 from pcristi's  mediafire kodi folder?

Thanks for your update
