When you used the smart phone you shared the mobile data connection right?

New firmware for Q10 v2.1.7?

Thanks for the heads up.

Can anyone confirm this is ok to dirty flash directly over 2.1.6 on the Q10?

Yes but you also have to install the patch to have access to the playstore

I think so. Have you tried to remove the hard drive to see what happens?

I've read in this forum that's not advisable.
Install official version 2.0.3 next 2.0.4 and finally the latest. This way you'll completely reinstall the firmware from scratch. Alow the box to boot after each install.

Automatic time works only after factory reset. Next when I'm connect internal HDD and set it as default, time and date stop working :(

How did you reset the software?

Maybe your router or ISP is blocking the access to the ntp server. Do you have a smartphone you could share the wifi connection just to test that hypothesis?

Try to reinstall the firmware with the reset button method, backup what you need first.

New firmware for Q10 v2.1.7?

I don't know if it is convenient to open a New Thread.

I think it's preferable to create a new thread

Is the time zone set correctly? As long as you have internet the box should set the time automatically

I don't understand your answer... What do you mean by setting the hard drive as default?
What is the firmware version you have?

It's not a malfunction, it's a characteristic, the box doesn't have a real time clock (RTC). You need to set it to automatic and let it fetch the time after every boot.

On my Q5 Pro tried the update to 2.1.6 paper clip method, just got Himedia logo then nothing but a blank screen for 10 minutes, so have gone back to 2.1.4, any idea why it didn't work? and is it worth it?

It's worth it, the best official firmware yet.
You probably did something wrong, you didn't saw the ring?

What is the firmware you have installed?

how to do the " update_googleplay_patch_try_fixed_for_OFW_v2.1.6 " update ? After I install the firmware 2.1.6 but not with paperclib method, is it with filemanager or within kodi. Filemanager say file not exist and when I do the paperclip method I lose kodi and have to reinstall ?

Rename to, copy to a USB flash drive and install via settings menu (dirty flash) or with the reset button method, you won't lose data installing the patch that way.

It's possible but it's not easy because it's soldered to the main board. You might find a replacement in ebay.
