You can use any USB HDD casing. A fan isn't usually necessary as long as the case has reasonable ventilation. Performance is not an issue if using for media so I'd go for something low cost.

3.5" and powered (large 3.5" HDDs have high power draw so a powered caddy is best):

The R3 remote is only for Dune products. Only the top 4 buttons can be programmed to control a TV.

User manual here:

Copied from Zidoo's forum (

Full expands vertically (if it can) to fill the frame height.

Fit expands horizontally if not already

Fit (DAR) expands horizontally if needed and honours DAR (Display Aspect Ratio) for example for anamorphic encodes - DVDs mainly. Not really needed these days.

Original displays as per the file aspect ratio (and resolution and resolution settings!)

16:9 and 4:3 do exactly what they say.

On Z9X there are settings for 2.35:1, 21:9 and 1.85:1 displays at Settings - Display settings - Screen ratio.

Emergency flash instructions for all Zidoo boxes is here:

Make sure you choose the correct download for your box.

Z9X is capable of playing all 4K via SMB Gigabit LAN. It sounds like a bandwidth problem, either the network or the HDMI chain.

The one thing unusual in your listed setup is the HDMI splitter to the AVR. The usual way to connect Z9X would be Z9X > HMDI > AVR > HDMI > TV. If you set it up this way (or remove the AVR) does it cure the stuttering?

A lot of those views will be scrapers.

Try the latest firmware:

If that doesn't fix it try posting on Zidoo's forum. X10 is now a fairly old product so the number of users posting here about it is minimal.

If the USB emergency firmware flash doesn't work there is nothing else I can suggest remotely.

The Zidoo boxes can be factory reflashed using a cable+PC (we can do this in the UK) which will almost always fix any deep rooted firmware misconfiguration. If the box was returned we would try this.

You will need to contact the retailer you bought the box from. If this is us:

It sounds more like a problem with your display device or the HDMI chain leading to it than the Zidoo. How is the Zidoo connected to the display device? Do you get the same problem when connecting the Zidoo direct to the TV using the supplied HDMI cable? What display device is it (brand/model)?

Can't you use ZDMC? It works the same way as XBMC wrapper, in that it enables Zidoo's playback app for Kodi.

Not many UHD3000 owners will have attempted to root their device because rooting brings minimal benefits in normal usage.

Plus, there is a real risk of bricking the UHD3000 by attempting to root it. In which case you'd have a very expensive brick.

We do not advise trying to root any of the Zidoo products and any breakages caused by attempting to root them will invalidate the warranty.

Format either using the Z1000 Pro or externally. If externally use GPT partition table and EXT or NTFS file system.

I would advise allowing the box to update to latest firmware on first connection to the internet. It should prompt you to do this automatically.

There are no benefits to rooting the box in normal use.

There is no pcristi firmware for the Pro (RTK1619DR) models. He has posted a method to install magisk to get root, but it's not for beginners and can brick the box (in which case invalidating the warranty).

Futeko: could please answer to this question?

It depends on your display device and what you are trying to achieve, but generally yes.

First point of contact should be with the retailer you bought it from. I don't know Romanian consumer laws but I would have thought that if you're sold something materially not what you paid for then you have the right of replacement/refund for a considerable period of time, longer than 90 days.

Can you post a photo of Settings - Other - About - Advanced Settings - System - About tablet? Particularly the build number entry at the bottom. Also please a photo of Settings - Other - About?

I reiterate what I said earlier that it is impossible for Z1000 firmware to be installed on a Z1000 Pro. I'm not just saying that, it's really impossible. So based on the photos you've sent definitely being of a Z1000 Pro, the possible scenarios would seem to be:

1. You have a Z1000 Pro and have not installed the firmware correctly. I guess you've tried this?: Remember to use a FAT32 formatted USB stick and to rename the download install.img (sometimes Windows messes up renaming of .zip files, renaming them so make sure it's correct).

2. You have a Z1000 Pro shell with a Z1000 PCB installed inside it. I don't know if this is possible and I think it probably isn't (PCBs probably different shapes) but it's just about conceivable. I notice that the warranty void sticker on your photos has been torn and at least one screw looks like it's been turned. Why is this? Have you opened up the casing?

Overall, I recommend complaining hard to Amazon. They usually side with the consumer and if you can prove that you've been mis-sold something I'd sure they'll give you a refund.

Overall #2, buy from us next time.  :)
