After reading your last comment (stl) I started to instal the CFW 2.1.6 (2) and it is great. All my desired apps are back and everything works smooth again.
Thank you all for the support you gave me. Great that with the step by step approach this nightmare turned out in a lot of fun with my HiMedia player again! ! !

A BIG THANKS to you all! It is great to have a forum like this!
It was a problem with the configuration from Windows 10 as "stl" mentioned. every time when I opened the downloaded file I didn't noticed the wrong text "update.zip.zip". However I always have "View hidden items on, but I haven't noticed the wrong text.
I did update to CFW 2.1.7 which is nice, but how do I install all the other apps like YouTube smart tv, Aptoide etc. etc.? I'm a little confused now after my 2 days experience. What is the latest and best CFW until today? I have seen 2.1.6 updated and corrected by Pcristi, but I'm not sure.
Please, one more time support on my last question.

Dear forum members,
Nothing seems to work and I do have a friendly request for anyone who can help me on a CORRECT ZIPPED FILE! I know it sounds ridiculous, but a couple of years ago somewhere in 2018 I bumped into the same problems.
Someone from the Netherlands (I think it was Julian and someone else) did sent me with a "file transfer app" a FW update and it worked instantly on my HM Q10!
It should be EXTRACTED by WinZip or WinRar or whatever. For some reason I can't non of the files extract correctly! So there is something wrong with te downloaded files. I know there are many forum members out there (and I am one of them) to explain that "rename" the unextracted file into "update zip", but it doesn't work in this case. It should save a lot of time than go to all suggestions and comments again, I'm 100% sure.
So, please, please anyone? ? ?

Thank you very much HerelsTom, highly appreciated! So according Pcristi I should install 2.1.6 fw first and with the hope that it works. For some reason I can't unzip files with WinRar, Zip 7 or WinZip, but ussualy I just rename the file into "update zip", correct? I will try this out and I really do hope that I can install afterwards the custom firmware. I'm only confused which CFW, because there are a few and I don't know which one also has YouTube Smart tv? ? ?

I have just tried to update the 2.1.6 version and it doesn't work. I have only the Android ring but after a minute or two HM Q10 Pro just boot up with the 2.1.5 version from 19-12-2019! It looks that it has baked in, and I can't change anything about that. I did this with 3 tumbdrives formatted FAT 32 and it doesn't work. When I plug in de tumbdrive and going to the internal menu "upgrade - Local upgrade" it doesn't recognize any files on the tumdrive. I know that I have to use the paperclip options etc. but it was just to check it out. I think that the file should be unzipped first despite all the discussions at this forum. However I didn't unzip and just renamed the file before copied to the tumbdrive.
However, the HM Q10 works fine with that fw version (2.1.5), but I'm not happy that I can't install apps like YouTube Smart tv, Aptoid or Google Chrome. It also plays everything from my ext. HDD. Actually it is very hard to do anything with that version and it does allow to install apps from the Google Playstore only, including "sideload", but APK's are impossible!
I do hope to get some response about this matter. Thank you all..........

Thanks for your suggestion Pcristi. Unfortunately I can't find anywhere the OFW v2.1.6? ? ? Could you tell me please where I can get it? The last OFW is version 2.1.4. However, I think that also the official fw will not work on my HM Q10 Pro anymore, because I've tried today many times older official firmware updates from this site.
Any suggestion will be welcome.........

My version is not 2.1.4 but 2.1.5, please be aware of this!
If I knew that I messed up this much with the latest firmware 2.1.6 than I didn't do upgrade anymore.
I simply can't install anything anymore since I tried the (update&themed&Kodi18.2)[v1.0]-HMD-2.1.6 2020-07-13.172553.
I know that I need to unzip the files, but usually I just rename the fw in "update zip" and normally that works, but now nothing seems to work.
I would be grateful if someone could sent me the (2.1.6) file by mail or a file transfer app, because I'm running out of ideas. Sorry that I can't be more helpful "Kirek50".

Beste Schapie,
Op dit forum kun je alleen in het Engels reageren anders denk ik niet dat je enig respons krijgt.

I have tried to update to the various latest versions from December 2019 until now  (update&themed&Kodi18.2)[v1.0]-HMD-2.1.6 2020-07-13.172553 with (paperclip, rename to "update zip" etc.), but unfortunately even after a factory reset it starts up with the 2.1.5 version from December last year. There is no way to install any other version on my HiMedia Q10 Pro! I do see the Android ring but no bar with progress to update. I did updated some apps in the 2.1.5 version "Google Play Store, YouTube, and Google" but Google won't pop up in my main menu, and YouTube is not the desired version like I've got before like "YouTube S" without the annoying commercials.
It's a disaster and I would be grateful if I get some response on this matter. I love to use this box and usually updates run very smooth, but unfortunately the last one not!

I've been fiddling with previous official firmware updates for several times and the Q10 Pro still gives the Android circle but no upgrade bar. It just goes back automatically to the 2.1.5 fw from December 2019 which makes the HM Q10 Pro useless, because I can't get the desired icons as mentioned above. I do hope on a solution please..............

"Peter6700" There is a whole discussion with a great tutorial from "Maelor" which helped me a lot! Go to

I have tried to register for a couple of times by "Open subtitles" but it doesn't work anymore. They mentioned explicit, not for users in Thailand anymore. So fortunately I live in Thailand and there is no way to support financially their site.
Furthermore I have tried the "podnapisi.net" according "Pempek40", but that doesn't work either. Are there any other options? Maybe some forum members were lucky with another subtitle addon........

Thanks again Maelor. I use the Enterprise because it is a small form computer from MSI with just 4GB Ram (not upgradable). It didn't run smooth with Windows 10 Pro in the past. To explain the setup from pc's and media player at my home is to complicated, because that's a long story, and no one will be interested in my personal situation and setup at my home. Your suggestion about the NAS device doesn't work with my new router and the previous one. I went through that already a half year ago. "T I T" this is Thailand, which is a country nice to live, but very hard to get things done with the Internet provider (lack of interest and knowledge). I will continueing to try to find a solution. A big thank you for all of your suggestions, and I'm very happy with this forum in the past 3 years.

Well Maelor, thanks again for your effort, time, and answer. Another forum member told me that the problem is Windows 10 Enterprise. It seems to work with Windows 10 Pro version. Yesterday evening I found out in my living room where I have my HiMedia Q10 Pro and a Windows 10 Pro computer, and it is working over there, but it is hot as hel in there, because it is the hot season in N O Thailand and I have no aircontitioning in that room. In another cooler room I have a small MSI computer (4GB ram) with Windows 10 Enterprise, and that one refuses to set up a home network.
However, could you please explain to me how I can use my Android 10 smartphone to play music content in and around the house from my home network? Because that's the thing I try to get done for over a year now. So my external HDD connected to my HiMedia Q10 Pro is visible on my pc in the livingroom, but still not on my smartphone, and believe me, I've tried so many things on my smartphone, but I can't get the content from that HDD from my computer or the HiMedia on my smartphone. I would be very grateful if you or anyone could give me some advice about that.

Thanks to everyone who gave me support with this matter. Unfortunately this is the end off this topic I'll guess. For some a home network might work, and for some simply not. It's 38 degrees Celsius in North East Thailand and it is time to shut a few devices down. I will try to stay cool and will probably fiddling around with the "home network" if the temperatures will be bearable again.

Thanks to Nandish and Maelor for you valuable replies. To Maelor; I would like to comment that indeed I've never set up a SAMBA password on my HiMedia Q10 Pro. So I have tried yesterday for many hours to get through this including "https://thegeekpage.com/fix-windows-10-error-code-0x80070035-the-network-path-was-not-found/" which I tried until fix 8. Windows credentials included.
So I will try out your suggestions and will inform the outcome later. For some reason it doesn't allow me to play music or whatever from my home network. I also don't understand how to find a home network on my Android 10 smartphone. I can't find anything in my wifi settings too. I just would like to play content from a computer or HiMedia Q10 Pro with an attached HDD, on my Android smartphone, how difficult could that be?

UPDATE! 11.25 local time Thailand.
I have checked Windows Credentials and there are "No Windows Credentials" HiMedia is not visible!
There are 4 Generic Credentials.
The HiMedia is visible if I open my pc network I can see all the icons from the connected devices, including "ANDROID_5813C".
And of course there is no username in the login settings from the Samba menu HiMedia. Maelor please, I do hope you will keep in touch!...............

UPDATE!
I have just added a Windows Credentials" network address, user name, and password. Unfortunately still nothing visible on my HiMedia? ? ?...............

Thank you Nandish, but this is an app from 2014 and I do hesistate to install this app on my computer due the risk of a virus, the app is also in another language. The app has never been updated ever since. I just would like to connect my external HDD to my HiMedia Q10 Pro and play music in another place at my home from my Android smartphone, because I'm running out of space on my phone (128 GB internal space + 128GB micro SD).
