Title: Frame packed 3D - MKV container - plays back in 2D
Post by: Karl on June 19, 2016, 11:47:22 PM
3D encoded 1920 x 1080/AVC/MKV/23.976fps Frame Packed   only plays back in 2D

This was also reported  in the  AVForums review of the  Q10 pro.

Is there anything being done by HiMedia to fix this ?

They are said to be "working on it"  :(

In the meantime, since Frame packed 3D .iso files work perfectly, you can use tsMuxerGUI to quickly convert any mkv files you already own to .iso (and play these).  There is no transcoding required (since it is just changing format, not the video or audio streams) so the process is quite fast.

Not sure if HiMedia is working on this, but I have it flagged it as 'medium priority' for them on the private beta-testers list.

Supporting MVC in MKV container shouldn't be hard for HiMedia as they'd be relying on the same MVC h/w decoder. They would just need code to look for this in the file header...

Code: [Select]
Format profile                           : Stereo High@L4.1 / High@L4.1
MultiView_Count                          : 2
