is it possible to install latest kodi (16.1) on the himedia 8?
-
Yes. You can install any version of Kodi. You'll lose the optimisations present in the pre-installed version though. In practice this will mean no HD-Audio or 3D support, and lesser performance.
-
Does anybody know if "repartitioning" is possible with the new firmware?
The system storage is relatively small, so if you install a couple of apps which cannot be moved to SD you run into a problem with the older firmware versions.

Does that really work perfectly?
It's designed for RK3188 (two generations previous to H8's RK3368) chipset.
-
Form source code it looks like its supporting RC 3xxx family

When Can we expected that firmware will fully support google API to solve HW acceleration, 3D , sound pass trough one for all ?

A wrong firmware version has been updated on H8 and resulted in malfunctioning of the device. Now unable to update the right firmware version (1.1.2) as the system quits the process halfway and HIMEDIA logo appears on TV continuously. No GUI from Remote Control. Any suggestions to rectify this issue.

Hello,
Had me with the player only the variant with a USB stick and turn on the restore button.
Firmware Upgrade by Recovery Mode (user data will be cleared)
1.Download a new firmware and place the firmware onto the ROOT directory of a USB drive.
2. Plug the USB drive into an empty USB HOST on the SMART TV BOX.
3.With the SMART TV BOX turned off,use a paper clip or pen point to press and hold the small pinhole restore button on the SMART TV BOX
4.While pressing the restore button, turn on the SMART TV BOX. Continue to hold the restore button for 5 more seconds, then release it.
5.The SMART TV BOX will begin upgrading the firmware from the USB drive.
6. Wait for the SMART TV BOX to complete the upgrade. Please be patient as it may take around 5 minutes to complete.
7. When finished, The SMART TV BOX will auto reboot.

Has anybody already done the update to the latest firmware (HMD-1.1.3 2016-10-26.101054)?
What is your experience so far?
Thanks!
-
its also as good 1.1.2... thats the best what i can say about 1.1.3..
i see any differences... a working firmware, but boring with old KODI...
-
Ive also done this update but it works the same as earlier, stable and correctly.
-
After updating to firmware 1.1.3, frequent "Audio Dropout" has been noticed. Is this a bug?
-
Unfortunately John,
This is a bug in the latest firmware. It happens if you are sending the audio component via optical cabel. It is frustrating that with new firmware something which is essential in media player can suddenly stop working properly.

All my Audio/ Video files are sent via HDMI cable and even noticed the "Audio Dropout" which is frustrating.
