For the past few weeks my father in-law had raised issues that wifi connectivity was struggling with his H8. I finally got around to looking at it on Saturday, and noticed that DL speed in kodi/chrome/google play is extremely slow even when in the settings it said my connection is 35mbps. It also occasionally disconnected from wifi, even though other devices (phone) has constant connectivity. Then plugged it into the ethernet cable, and noticed speeds were blazing fast and everything worked fine.
I took the box home and tried it on my wifi which connected at 62.5mbps, and still had slow speeds/connectivity issues. In response, I upgraded the firmware to 1.1.1. Still to no avail the wifi issues continued. I then upgraded to 1.1.2 found on the HiMedia site http://www.himediatech.com/support.htm, which supposedly addresses wifi issues. Still the problem persist.
At this point I believe it a hardware issue, as both firmwares and changes in wifi did not address the issue. I have a couple questions for the forum to resolve this:
1. Is there a potential software fix I could deploy?
2. If not software fix is available, would it be possible to buy a "USB wifi adapted" that would somehow replace the internal wifi controller? If there is such a wifi adpter, would anyone have suggestions for a brand/model?
Any help would be really appreciated!

Hello,
with firmware 1.0.9 I had amwenigsten problems in WiFi.
The 1.1.1 has since made up for problems. The 1.1.2 I installed today at noon and can not say anything for WiFi.
Attempt firstonce the 1.0.9 here on the forum.

I would recommend installing firmware 1.1.2 using the restore button method as described here: http://www.futeko.com/newforum/index.php?topic=962.0
I don't think H8 has the drivers installed for USB wifi adapters, so that wouldn't work as a solution.

I actually tried installing 1.1.2 via the restore method and that still did not correct the wifi issue. I'm struggling to think of what else could work as a solution

If it's a hardware problem then the most likely thing is that the wifi antenna connector has become detached from the mainboard.
You can RMA for this and we can check. mail@futeko.com
Or, and this will invalidate the warranty, you could open the box yourself. Undo the 4 screws on the base and the casing will come apart.

I can confirm that I have the same problem from day one with the box. Since then I am using the cable and there are no problems, speed is excellent but it is frustrating that wi-fi is not working properly from the beginning. I haven`t upgraded the box with the firmware from May 2016, but as many have said this didn`t help them, I am affraid that this will not help me either.
Maybe I will do just that, open the box and check if everything is connected like it should....
