My setup is a Synology 1815+ & Imac.
The wrapper issue with password protected SMB files has been partially solved by using a windows PC to change files. This is not possible with a MAC/OSX machine.
I had no problems with my old Q5, this accessed password protected SMB files with no issues using the wrapper, but with my new unit unless i access the media player first it refuses to play.
I cannot setup SMB files without password protection as my Synology unit does not allow it, so how can i solve this issue.?
Futeko, when is Himedia likely to be fixing this issue.?

Solved.
Apply a patch. Download this file rename it update.zip and copy to a USB stick. Then load as a local update.

I had the same issue with my Synology. There is a way though to set the shares as not requiring a password.
When you go into the Users, go to advanced tab and deselect the option that says something like "enforce strong passwords on accounts".
Make sure you apply that and go back to the users tab and then clear out the password assigned to the guest account.
Set the guest with the right permissions on the share you are using (I just put read on the relevant shares on the synology).
Go back into the advanced tab and reselect the option to "enforce strong passwords on accounts". This seems to make the change for new/existing accounts if you want to change passwords but doesn't go through and reset existing accounts to use those settings.
Not the most secure, I appreciate, but to get to my synology you would need to be on my lan and then you can only get read only access to my shares that host media so I am not too worried.
