Post by: Maya93 on June 07, 2016, 06:04:49 PM
Hi
normally i should receive very soon my Q10 pro. I'm very exited  ;D
I undertood that there is no user manual in the box.
Could you please make a post in which you explain what are the most important things to do (or not do) for the firt time?

Thanks a lot.

There is no "User Manual" included , but there is a "Quick Guide" included in the box

Very hard to do justice w/a user manual for media players like Q10 Pro. It falls into the A/V enthusiast camp and no manual can really cover everything.

So, this forum is your virtual user's manual. Also see here. (http://forum.kodi.tv/showthread.php?tid=265888) :)

I do agree with you here, however a quick guide to explaining what each option in settings is would be beneficial to a lot of people.

I did not know there was a quick guide. Maybe FUTEKO could put online this quick guide.
I was thinking of something very simple : step  1 : upgrade the firmware - step 2 - upgrade all apps/kodi? step 3 : install the wrapper?

I think quick guide is fairly trivial and a manual is important because it's an object that must interface with other hardware ( http://www.futeko.com/newforum/index.php?topic=895.msg6204#msg620 (http://www.futeko.com/newforum/index.php?topic=895.msg6204#msg620) ). Since the Q10 functions aren't infinite, it's possible write a manual, like any other product ;)
I have 2 question, for example.
1) if I want to connect Q10Pro to a PC to copy file from/to, how should I do? With Q10 swithed off or on? connect, and then power on? I need to follow instruction on TV like when I connect an android smartphone to PC?
2) Can I connect an android smartphone/tablet to Q10? how?
Has someone already done these connections?
Thank you

we sould not forget that the Q10pro is almost the same price than the Nvidia Shield TV who has a user guide (http://support-shield.nvidia.fr/android-tv-user-guide/index.htm#t=Get_Started.htm)  :-[

Quick guide here: http://www.mediafire.com/download/8e2ua876a9nxo4c/imgpsh_fullsize.jpeg

Its more a case of settings.  Take for example the menu options of

SDR
Other
HDR
Auto

Ok we all know what SDR and HDR are.  Also Auto I assumes detects what the tv can do and set to best option  but what is Other for?

Then take HDMI auto adaptation.  An explination on what this option "SHOULD" do ( I quote should because tbh it does not do what I would expect it to do).

Its these kinds of things.  I have found myself just fiddling and trying all different options and not getting expected results but if there was a quick guide to what these should (Will do when finally fixed in firmware) then it would help people save time just randomly trying things.

I will pass on a general request for better documentation to HiMedia.

Even if it were in the format of a wiki online it would be better than at present.

As it is, we do the best we can by operating this forum. It's intention is to help people with the products we sell.

A wiki online would be enough ;-)
You could start whit the quick guide and then the more important things to do when you receive your new baby ;-)
Then later, it could be something something that describes the more important settings.

Hello to all,

I am also a newbie with my Q10 pro.

To be honest, I've got attracted to it due the idea of using Kodi, and reading online the endless possibilities of this machine.

However, it happened now that I am quite lost on where to start from. Ideally I would prefer to not start changing firmwares, upgrading downgrading or flashing my box, but I would do if that is the recommendation.

I've got few doubts tho...

I know these might be a bit dummy questions and I will be suggested to look in forums, just as  a note, I've already done so, the issue is that for new users with lack of knowledge as it is my case, we are not quite after the instructions on how to do things, but mostly on understanding what things are:

Couldn't find clearly information about what Samba is, or what it is important for?
Same with Wrapper, it does requires login... not even sure where to get it from and with which purpose?
Is there a way to customize my box main menu (removing facebook, skype, or make it more Android handset menu alike) easily? Or might I need to learn to root it... I have the latest sold version as I've received the box literally two days ago.
On top of this, there are few apps on within the preinstalled ones which I have never seen before and it will be more than welcome a guide through explaining what are those used for and how to use them?

I hope you find this a fair request, it will be great having the answer to those, or +1's if there are other users having same doubts.

Thanks

Have you read through the FAQ thread here first?
http://www.futeko.com/newforum/index.php?topic=1517.0

A lot of your questions are already covered in detail and also link to other threads.
It is usually best to search and find a specific thread with any question not covered in the FAQ and ask there.
We all try to help new owners where we can  :)

Samba is the technical name for Windows networking. It's the most commonly used networking standard.

Wrapper is pre-installed. If you are using a password protected Samba share you'll need to enter share details in wrapper app, which can be found at Home - My Apps - Wrapper. In Kodi you can select whether to play media with wrapper or Kodi internal player by navigating to media, pressing remote menu key and selecting wither 'Wrapper' or 'VideoPlayer'.

Apps on home screen tiles can be swapped by navigating to tile and pressing remote menu key. It will take you to My Apps page where you can select an alternative app. On Android 7 firmware the launcher (the home screen app) cannot be changed, on the Android 5.1 firmwares it can.

Which apps exactly do you want a guide for? Most apps have their own help pages, usually online.

Many thanks Phil181,  but believe it or not, FAQ's was one of my first destinations where to read about, but as you can see if you look into them, those are mainly ways to action different features, rather than explanations themselves about what the things are.

Thanks a lot, I will take it from here to start my research.
I will try my best to make sure I'm not asking for redundant or already published information in the forum

Settings - More - Apps - at top right enable 'show system' - Launcher_3D - Storage - Clear Data

That will reset launcher apps to default.
