Title: recommendations for a cool HTPC keyboard fpr my new Q10 Pro
Post by: switchblade on May 17, 2016, 02:55:35 AM
What are the top options for a small HTPC (bluetooth?) keyboard with trackball, to be used with my Q10 Pro specifically?

Keyboard is nice when using Google and some other apps.  Plus a keyboard with a trackball will make the mouse movements easier.

It needs a Manual APK install but it is a good remote indeed. There is also a topic about recommended/tested remotes that are used by others.
Do prefer a remote with a Pointer Mouse instead of a Trackball myself. A bit of getting used to, but these work great.  Have both each combined with a keyboard..

After reading good tings about the Rii 8+ I've bought it and tried to get used to its agonizing lag. My couch is just about 4 meters away from the Q10 with clear line of sight. Still I wasn't able to manage a lag free control.  Especially the annoying input dropouts when trying couch surfing made it unbearable for me. The software remote was much better, but still I didn't want to suck my mobile's battery dry so I went for the Logitech K400. Of course it's huge compared to the Rii 8+ but still, having a keyboard that flawlessly works made me send the Rii back. I'm very happy with the K400 and would recommend it at any given time over the Rii.

Hard to beat K400 ... I've tried many air-mice controllers and keyboards. One I do like is Minix A2 Lite... only thing it lacks is a right-click function.

Thanks for all the feedback.  I just ordered the logitech K400.  I do not want to use my phone so this seems to be the next best option, and not too much money.

Yes indeed, the K400 is one of the best keyboards for the Himedia Android players.
Once plugged in, it works very good. The touchpad is one of the best.

For some APP's you need a touchscreen: Nice example is Google MAPs which is truly great on a big screen. But how to zoom back out???
My experience is you need a simple remote, something advanced with a mouse/keyboard and the Hicontrol APP to run all the stuff available on an Android media player comfortable.
