I just got a new MiniMX (OpenElec edition), and wifi or bluetooth are not working. I upgraded whatever version of OpenElec it came with, and now it is Amlogic.aarch64-MiniMX-6.95.3 - but still no joy. It seems to be a problem powering up the radio:

This is fixed in latest MiniMX OpenELEC.
This: http://www.amlinux.ru/image/905/6.95.3.1/OpenELEC-Amlogic.aarch64-MiniMX-6.95.3.1.zip
Latest OpenELEC builds for MiniMX here: http://www.amlinux.ru/image/905/
Problem was changed wi-fi and Bluetooth modules in new stock.
We've been very lapse with maintaining this section of the forum. We'll give it a clean very soon.

Am I correct in thinking that the SD version is OpenELEC-Amlogic.aarch64-MiniMX-6.95.3.1.img.gz?
-
Should be, yes.
Info here: http://amlinuxmedia.com/forum/index.php?topic=13.0

Yup, I used that image, the link to the latest SD version is missing on the thread though, but it IS in the http://www.amlinux.ru/image/905/6.95.3.1/ repository. I had an issue with a slightly earlier build, the bluetooth wasn't working, but WiFi was fine. I'll post here with my results when I try the newer version.
-
The box has been returned, so I can't test 6.95.3.1 . I don't see people on the amlogic forum talk about 6.95.3 having broken wifi. I also tried other images of SD. I'm pretty sure it was a faulty box.
-
I tried a few of the images in that thread initially, and I suffered exactly the same problem. No wifi or Bluetooth. It updated OTA and the Wi-Fi resolved itself.
Current issues with the latest build are bluetooth not working and incorrect memory information. Both boxes I tested report 741mb of RAM as opposed to 1020mb, and neither have Bluetooth. One box is flashed, the other one running from SD.
-
The OTA update didn't fix it for me. I would expect the limitations of shipped firmware to be documented, specially for a important function like wifi. I remember seeing that CEC was not working.
-
The OpenELEC firmware development is unofficial and is largely undocumented. The guys doing the work are mostly Russian, documenting it in English would be tough for them. More documentation would be better, but I would not sacrifice it for the rapid progress made in terms of getting features working.
As it stands, 6.95.3.1 on MiniMX is an excellent OpenELEC product.
The problems with wi-fi / Bluetooth were caused by the manufacturer changing the wi-fi modules in the most recent production batch. It didn't appear in the forums because most people posting had the old hardware. So it took a few weeks for those creating the firmware to realise that there was a problem, understand it, and provide a fix (including code for the new wifi chip).
In general, unofficial / open development like this provides the best results. If you compare a product like Venz V3, the MiniMX has had much more work put into it and and is a much more finished product. Venz rely on a few paid coders, MiniMX OpenELEC has a forum community and a very large userbase.

I've had to go back to using the Android install, as the image is currently too unstable. The issue is random lockups whilst navigating menus. I've tried various skins, and tailed the log via SSH. The lockups leave not trace in the log. Just FYI.
-
I can no longer turn wifi or bluetooth on in Android now either.
I've tried every firmware version posted both here and in the FreakTab forum to no avail. I installed root explorer and browsed to the data/misc/wifi folder, but a file mentioned in a lot of solutions (wpa_supplicant.conf) is missing, although there IS a folder called 'wpa_supplicant'. I tried deleting this, no dice.
Everything else is fine, but unfortunately I don't have a way to run an ethernet cable to the box.
Any ideas Futeko?
EDIT: Wifi still works on the SD OpenElec. Scanned and connected fine. So it HAS to be the images I'm flashing. I used FUTEKO MINIMX. ANDROID. S905_105L1. FULL FLASH METHOD, wifi didn't work. I then updated, and tried again, nada. Final update still didn't fix the issue.
-
If you weren't doing this already, I suggest flashing the box using the USB flash method as here: http://www.futeko.com/newforum/index.php?topic=669.0
Use the latest 107L firmware: https://mega.nz/#!ylkhDAqb!m-chlqL1shHts82IWz90fTfZxrGk2RWxyqD5IqT2hSQ
That will wipe the box and start from scratch.
That should work. If it doesn't then maybe a hardware problem. Email us for RMA.
-
All flashes have been via the usb method, and I tried a full wipe wipe and flash with 107L.
I can't confirm if it was working when I first got it, as I connected via Ethernet to set up Kodi. What address do I need to email for an RMA?
