I have been using a variety of Android TV boxes, including Minix, Zidoo, and up till now the Probox2 Ex+. I then changed for the Q10 Pro, I have had this box for a couple of days and had some issues/questions:
- The lack of a Notification bar is annoying, as I tend to run a couple of programs in the background (FTP Server, and TTorrent). I have installed Nova Launcher, but the bar still won't display. Is this just a no-go?
- The fact that if I want subtitles half way through a film on Kodi, I have to exit out, play with the DVD player, download subtitle, then go back into the film with the wrapper. Is this something that will always be the case, or will this be fixed/changed?
- I have Solid Explorer installed. I can navigate to the HDD installed, but I can't do anything like delete etc. It's a 1Tb internal HDD, using the 3.5" bay. Enabling SAMBA, I was able to add the connection to Solid Explorer and access the HDD. I have tested it, and I am able to delete etc
Any help would be much appreciated.

Which HDD?
Intern/extern?
USB2/USB3?

Sorry for the lack of information. It's a 1Tb internal HDD, using the 3.5" bay.

Is the standard Samba Server enabled/disabled? Is access OK using the Standard Samba Server instead?
I think it must be disabled when using another Samba Server like included with Solid Explorer.

Yes using SAMBA does allow me to access the HDD and then delete off it.

With default launcher and using a mouse you can drag up from bottom of screen to get the status bar. If you then click on the square icon you get a list of running apps and can switch between them. Q10 Pro has the notification bar at the top disabled by design. It was enabled on Himedia H8 and got a lot of complaints, it gets in the way of media apps.
If you play the file in Kodi you get all of Kodi's subtitle options. The plan is for Kodi to eventually have full support for HiSilicon V200 chipset so no need for wrapper. When/if this happens I don't know. As it stands you only have to download the subs as you describe once for them to work forever in Kodi+wrapper.
