Hi looun,

OK I get your answer, but then KODI should support Himedia Q10Pro.
Or in other words, Himedia should develop solution for zooming.
Every stupid mediaplayer ( very old models too), have a functionality like these.

If you use Mediastreams in Kodi via add-ons Kodi is able to zoom. Therefore it could not be a general problem......

You can zoom if you play the file in Kodi native player.

If you haven't installed the wrapper then this will be default. If you have installed the wrapper than navigate to the file, press remote menu key, and select play using.. dvdplayer.

When file is playing press OK on remote then navigate to the showreel icon near bottom right to access zoom options.

Q10 Pro has at the moment what Looun is calling 40% support for Kodi.

Q10 Pro has installed certain native hardware video decoding modules that give hardware support in Kodi for most video files. So even without installing the wrapper you get hardware support (and Imprex PQ enhancement) in Kodi for most files. This feature was unexpected at launch and isn't mentioned on our site. The stuff missing (the other 60%) is HD-audio and frame rate switching.

So if you don't need HD-audio and frame rate switching you can play the video in Kodi and use Kodi's (excellent) zoom features.

Ultimately, the aim is to make standard Kodi + Q10 Pro entirely compatible, so you can install any version of Kodi (well, probably version 17+) and get full Q10 Pro hardware features without wrapper. That would give Q10 Pro users the best of both worlds, Q10 Pros video performance+quality and Kodi's media management, subtitle, zoom, and many other features. But that is some way off.

I need zoom function on Himedia player, too. I don't like black bars on my TV :(

I mean I need crop - zoom feature left and right picture to fit 21:9 picture to 16:9 TV.  Ths wad removed from Kodi since v15. Current black line removal function stretches picture so it changes aspect ratio. Previously I had a Dune and it had this feature. As a software developer, I believe this is not a difficult feature to implement.

@futeko.com: Could you please forward this request to HiMedia.

Thanks!

It just got to my mind....did you try mx-player? It has several picture-size options....this might fill your needs.
Hardware-accelleration works....it can tell....otherwise I would not be able to play Sony HDR Demo via mx-player via dsvideo.

My idea is to use my TV screen area fully without blackbars. You know, preferences change from person to person...

DTS is supported by a custom codec but MX Player still  doesn't pass through. And  I just tested, HW acceralation does not crop as I wish, SW codec (which is very slow) can crop the video (May be this is a bug for HW accerelation option, i don't know.). At the end, unfortunately MX Player is not an option for me.

So I need Himedia support on this issue.

I didn't see DTS led on my receiver with any of the settings I tested with MxPlayer. Are you sure about pass through?

You have Yamaha receiver?

See here...it works for me...EVERYTHING!!!
http://www.futeko.com/newforum/index.php?topic=793.msg6065#msg6065
the "problem" with DTS-MA is no fault...that is base on decoder works on my Yamaha....As soon as I enable DSP...I have 9.1 channels used again.
DTS-MA just does not contain any height-speaker information that is why.

I've Onkyo receiver. It receives DTS/AC3, never had a problem.
