Title: Help: Function Keys Assignment Menu Location
Post by: apollo16 on April 22, 2016, 10:16:01 PM
Hi, i'm beginner and i need your help, please.
I have buyed few days ago Himedia Hi8 octa core TvBox and i have attached to HOST-USB a WiFi Keyboard.
I have assigned to function keys "F1", "F2", "F4"  the most applications that i'm using.
Now i have some questions on this option.

I want modify applications assigned with other but i don't remember how access
to section that permit user to modify function Keys assignment
Originally when function keys was empty (no apps assigned), the menu option was automatically showed on screen
to easy choose apps to assign to function keys buttons, but now i don't know how do it.
How can i access to this menu ??

Menu section when was showed on screen, permit user to assign all 12 buttons of function keys  (F1....F12)
therefore i have assigned all function keys to my applications but only "F1", "F2", "F4" take effect and applications
assigned starts on pressing button.
All other function Keys  "F3", "F5", ...... "F12"  don't start applications assigned. Where I 'm wronging?

I have searched on WEB some application that permit me to re-assign to these function  keys my applications
that must start on pressing button, but i found only for Windows OS and nothing for android.
Someone know an Android APK apps that run on TvBox Himedia Hi8, that give me this possibility ??

Thanks

How did you assign functions to the F keys in the first place? I don't think H8 supports mapping function keys on a USB keyboard natively.

Not tested, but this app may help: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.tincore.and.keymapper&hl=en_GB

Instead, support them natively.
Bought hi8, i have immediately updated with last firmware and connecting USB Logitech WiFi keyboard and pressing function key, automatic was show on screen menu settings to assign application to each function key button.
Now all are assigned and menu is disappeared.

I will test app that you have linked.
Thanks

Do you think that If i do a complete reset of Hi8 comeback to original status with function key empty, in order to re-assign them to my new application
Thanks again so much

I have proved app suggested but it needs ROOT and H8 is not rooted.
The program is also very difficult for me, many options, that i ignore hope and i don't know how use it to assign app
that i'm using to function keys of my external (not virtual) keyboard.

Original Assignment showed on screen was very easy.
Menu was showed complete list of function keys from F1 .... to....  F12
and cliccking on each choice, user may choose program to assign to that button key also if    F1, F2, F4   take effect and run

F1 = Explorer Browser
F2 = KODI
F4 = Music Player

F3 = Photo Viewer
F5 = Video Player 2
F6......F12 = ...etc....

Thanks for help

I had no idea H8 even had an app installed to assign function keys on a keyboard.

However, I see it now.

The app is called 'One-touch access'.

You can clear it's settings by going to Settings - More - Apps - ALL. Scroll down until you find 'One-touch access'. The select 'FORCE STOP', 'CLEAR DATA', 'CLEAR CACHE'. Reboot and settings will be reset.

Perfect, thank you very much, you have found application that permit to assign app to Function Keys.
I have do as your suggestion step and now i can assign again new value to function keys
Thanks a lot.

Unfortunately there are always 3 problems:

- Assigned value to key buttons the menu disappeared and there is not shortcut to show it again.
   I must use your procedure steps, clearing data-cache to show again settings menu if in future i'll want modify assigment.

- I can use only 3 function key button, all other don't take effect

- Three function key assigned is not into natural sequence, but  are   "F1",  "F2", "F4"     ....      "F3" don't run.

I have attached 2 screenshot shotted from TvBox pressing "PrintScreen Button"

1st picture = Menu (empty) as default
2nd picture = Menu with 4 key assigned.

if i press F1 = Kodi starts
if i Press F2 = Custom Music Player starts
if i press F3 = no actrion,   why?   :-/
If i press F4 = Custom Image Viewer starts
If i press F5 = no action

Where i'm wronging??
Thanks again to all forum users that spend time to help men

First of three problem (in my list):  is SOLVED.

I have installed "Apex Launcher 3.1.0" that permit to access to its home screen where i have creates a directly shortcut icon
to "One-Touch Access" app and there is also possibility to associate double-TAP Mouse on screen to make same access from list choice.

2nd & 3rd problems are not solved yet.

I'm studying solution but nothing for now.

If someone have some suggestions i thanks a lot

Hi apollo16,

I guess with 'remote control' the 'One-touch access' programmer mean the IR-Remote-Control.
So this app is to put shortcuts to IR remote control colour and numeric buttons.
You have luck that some Fx Function Keys from your keyboard are mapped to the same "functions" as the color buttons on the IR remote in Android.
I think this is the reason why e.g. F3 does not work. - Can be, with a keyboard remapper app you can solve this.

Just my 2 cents,

Thanks a lot.
I have proved "Multilanguage Keymap Redefiner 1.3"
and now i can assign all program i want to all other function keys except "F1 + F2 + F4" used from One-Touch Access.
I ask to forum this question:
I have read on web that is not possible to shutdown android hardware if it is not rooted.
Now i have proved an old wire keyboard that have 2 dedicate buttons
"PowerOFF ShutDown"  and  "Sleep" and they take effect without i have rooted my H8 Tv Box.

I'm using everyday, not this wire-keyboard but an other WiFi Keyboard
that don't have these 2 deidicate buttons.

There are possibility to remap also this 2 functions without rooting H8, Old keyboard use this functions without rooting.

Into application installed i found only option "POWER SET TOP BOX"
but don't take effect.

Have you some suggestion about?

Thabk you very much
