I see in the spec sheet the Q10 supports wake on lan. Is there an option I need to enable for this to work, as I can't seem to wake it up?
-
Wake on LAN is not supported on Q10 Pro.
It is supported by the V200 chipset (which is where I guess you've found it specified) but not implemented in Q10 Pro. I will mention it to HiMedia as a requested feature, I can see the benefits.
-
Yes, it is mentioned here: :)

Thanks for mentioning, I would find it very useful.

Ah. Sorry about that. That was written a few months ago. It will be corrected.
I'll get an answer from HiMedia by tomorrow about whether this feature can/will be added.
-
Damn, that's a major disappointment, since that was actually one of the features that made me choose the Q10 Pro, instead of a NUC.
I really need to be able to use this as a network drive.
Do you have any feedback on this yet?
Thanks and kind regards.
-
HiMedia say they are considering adding it as a feature.
In HiMedia speak that usually means it's going to happen.
-
That's very good news.
Thanks for the quick feedback (and the translation) ;-)

I"m curious if they are still going to add WOL functionality to the Q10 pro. Do you know of any developments here?
-
I have been talking to HiMedia and they now think that the added functionality of wake of lan wouldn't be widely used.
What exactly do people want from WOL? Is it to use Q10 Pro as a networked storage?
-
From my point of view, I manage files on the internal Q10 HDD from my PC which is upstairs - so having WOL means I don't need to remember to switch the Q10 on at some point.
Fairly minor point as I can simply go downstairs and switch it on ;D but it does annoy me - especially if the chipset supports it. Can't be that difficult to add can it?
-
I would have thought just adding the ability to turn the box on would be easy to add. I will pass that on.
I thought people would want a simple Samba NAS, activated by WOL. Especially with Q10 Pro I think this would be a good feature, however HiMedia see it as too difficult to implement for the benefit.
-
I would use WOL for any remote management of files and downloads and for NAS functionality. Since it is part of my media centre the device does get turned off by other members of the household. Without the ability to do a remote start how would one manage that if not physically there?
Also a discrete on and off functionality whether IR or otherwise would be very useful.
-
hmm... That's not very good news.
I indeed also use the internal HDD, of the Q10 Pro, to store movies, music etc.
With my previous box, I would use Yatse (kodi remote & streaming app), to send a WOL to my kodi device, allow me access all kodi functionalities and content remotely.
As long as I'm at home, it's anoying, but I can still walk to the box and switch it on.
When I'm not home, but connected to my home network via VPN, this is quite a showstopper.
Any idea whether their reply is final? Or might they still change their mind?
Other than this, I'm pretty happy with this box though...

+1 for Wake on Lan (WOL) and remote standby support
I am building high definition home automation systems and would like to use this player for my settings. KODI can be fully remote controlled, but on all the Android players the WOL/network standby function is missing or they lack of dolby surround possibilities...
I ordered one for testing due to the fact that I saw this... "1000M LAN (support remote wakeup and standby via ethernet)"
Thanks for considering adding the feature!
All the best, Dave

+1
is there any new Information on this Topic?
-
I saw there was an old thread on this Topic and as a new owner of a Q10 PRO was wondering if there was any new Information as this Feature would be really useful
-
My bedroom TV has chromecast on which I mirror my tablet screen using the hi control app. By that I can watch all movies. Wake on Lan would be useful to turn the q10 on.
