Currently I'm using Denon 3311 with my Dune Prime 3.0 play all the HD Audio with no issue.
My setup as below:
1. Denon 3311 AVR
2. 5.1 Surround Setup
3. 65" Panasonic Plasma TV
4. Dune Prime 3.0 Media Player
Today I just bought a new HiMedia Q10 Pro to replace my Dune Prime 3.0. After test for few hours, I can't get the HD Audio working. Below is the list of issue that I'm facing:
1. Dolby TrueHD - totally no sound.
2. DTS MA - play as DTS core sound.
3. Dolby Digital - no issue.
4. DTS - no issue.
Q10 Pro Kernel version: 3.18.24
Q10 Pro Firmware version: HMD-1.0.1 2016-03-22.170326
Playback Setup: HDMI Output - RAW, HBR Output - RAW 5.1, 1080P24Hz - ON.
Please help.
Thanks.

there are any problem with HD Audio: Dolby True Hd and DTS-HD, you must playback with himedia media center and/or installed wrapper for kodi.
Kodi like others app not support Hd audio with himedia Box at moment.
-
I have HiMedia Wrapper installed. Even I playback using HiMedia Media Center (native player) the problem are there.
I even try to bypass the denon amp and direct output to TV, the HD audio also no sound.
-
very strange ....it's first time about HD audio issues after old q10/q5 patch ,very old firmware of previous generation.
try different HDMI cable.
check your setting about your Denon 3311.
Panasonic Plasma TV NOT support HD audio, only DD.

When I connect directly to TV, I set both HDMI Output & HBR Output to Auto. I try non HD Audio file no issue.
I also tried 3 different HDMI cable but still same problem.

Panasonic Plasma TV NOT support HD audio, so if you set "HDMI Output & HBR Output to Auto" Q10 pro output LPCM audio stereo, no issues .

You mean downmix to stereo of HD audio? Yes, just choose PCM output in Q10 Pro's audio settings.

I try to change Q10 Pro output to LPCM to play the HD Audio file (Dolby True HD in this case), but still no sound.
Do you guys think factory reset the Q10 Pro will help?

it's very strange ...... first start to begin, which file do you test?
try this: http://kodi.wiki/view/Samples#HD_Audio_Test_Clips

I try few BD ISO with Dolby True HD audio and also this sample file https://www.sendspace.com/file/z03few (https://www.sendspace.com/file/z03few).

rjongks, sorry to hear you are having trouble with Dolby TrueHD. I have not had any issues with TrueHD on my pre-production or production Q10 Pro units using a Denon AVR-X4200W AVR. I will download the sample you provided and report back.
-
You will not get Dolby TrueHD audio through HDMI through TV , even if you connect HDMI through ARC connection , because it will downsample it.

I understand, but its no sound at all. Not even stereo sound.

Go to audio settings and choose PCM.

it's the same file i use for test ???.
1) Can you test q10 with other av receiver?
2) maybe a EDID / CEC problem, http://www.futeko.com/newforum/index.php?topic=166.msg1705#msg1705, but i don't think

I downloaded the test file and it works fine here with with production Q10 and Denon AVR-X4200W. Which AVR do you have?

Denon 3311.
-
Have you disabled the option .... "DTS Capable Receiver"
and enabled the option ..."Support 8 channel DTS-HD audio decoding" ?
-
Matters not if you're relying on native player, via wrapper, as native player will render the HD audio.

I managed to do below testing:
1. I tried Q10Pro with another Pioneer AVR that has hdmi 2.0 - HD audio passthrough with no problem.
2. But my Denon AVR-3311 which has hdmi 1.4 - HD audio passthrough only has DD/DTS core sound.
Anyone facing problem the same problem with no HD audio with older AVR which have hdmi 1.4? Can anyone confirm this?
Is this due to Q10 Pro hdmi 2.0 backward compatibility issue with older hdmi 1.4? Or it is just my Denon AVR? Help is greatly appreciated.
-
update: issue fixed when change setting HDMI output to Auto and HBR output to Auto.
I have same issue
I have Q5 4K3D and have HD audio passthrough with no problem, but Q10 pro HD audio passthrough only has DD/DTS core sound.
My AVR is Onkyo R548

My AVR is Onkyo base V20HD, which use HDMI 1.3a. But Q10 pro still bitstream DTS / DD HD sound smooth like charm. I dont think it is the compatibility problem. Did you try your Denon AVR with other Android Box?
-
Did you install the latest firmware for your AVR too. I have an Onkyo TX-NR609 and needed to update that one twice to get things going the correct way. Both problems were HDMI capabilities related.

I tried the AVR with HiMedia Q3 can passthrough HD audio with no issue using the same movie files.

What app are you using to play the files? If Kodi then you need to install wrapper.
Once wrapper is installed, or if playing from HiMedia app, settings for 7.1 via HDMI should be:
Settings - Playback:
HDMI Output: RAW
SPDIF OUtput: Close
HBR Output: RAW7.1
-
update: issue fixed when change setting HDMI output to Auto and HBR output to Auto.
I use Himedia video player
Setup:
HDMI Output: RAW
SPDIF OUtput: Close
HBR Output: RAW7.1
Connect:
Himedia Q10 Pro / HDMI / Onkyo R548 / HDMI / BenQ 1070
Final: only DD/DTS sound, no HD audio passthrough (no DTS-HD, no True HD)
btw: I have Himedia Q5 IV, and all HD audio passthrough fine with my system.

I'm using natvie HiMedia player. And I tried all the combination of setting below when playing HD Audio movie files:
HDMI Output = RAW HBR Output = RAW7.1 >> no sound
HDMI Output = RAW HBR Output = RAW5.1 >> only DD/DTS core sound
HDMI Output = Auto HBR Output = Auto >> no sound
My Setup: HiMedia Q10 Pro > HDMI > Denon AVR3311CI (5.1 speaker) > HDMI > Panasonic Plasma ST60
Thanks.

I can't explain why this doesn't work for the couple of people on this thread.
There are now a fairly large number of Q10 Pros with customers and we are not getting more general feedback about this, so it's only a problem for a small % of people. It 100% works for us in testing, we can't replicate the problem. HD-Audio passthrough is flawless. We have a Denon AVR1610 and a Denon AVRX520BT.
We're need more data / user reports. I had hoped that if more people did post on this thread then they would have similar setups and the problem could be narrowed down to a particular amp or brand of amp, but the two cases so far are from a Denon and Onkyo.
In general, please check HDMI cables and amp/TV setup. It's always possible that it's cable or setup related.

Just to add on, I did try to change few HDMI cables for my testing but still no luck.

Just in case someone can use this info.
SYNOLOGY DSVIDEO
=================
If you experience audio problem like DTS can be played back perfectly but DD is played back as PCM audio.
Then ACTIVATE "Dolby Digital pass through" in DSVIDEO settings.
I almost had written a bug report myself...saw that setting last second ::)
WORKS fantastic now and MILES faster than a S82b Box (S802 Chipset).

Hello Futeko,
My setting is ok just change my Old Q10 4K to Q10 Pro and before everything ok with HD Audio, all od them and now nothing instead of Dolby ac3 5.1 and DTS core only but no sound anymore for DTS-HD, True-HD or Atmos sound ??? very bad
I have a panasonic Plasma Viera VT50 and an Receiver Yamaha YSP-2200. No problem as well with the Q10 4K but not with the new one Q10 Pro. ???
-
update: issue fixed when change setting HDMI output to Auto and HBR output to Auto.
When I use HDMI Auto, my Q10 Pro switches to 50Hz, and then I have constant stuttering.
So for example for me it is not possible to use HDMI Auto.

Anyone having HD-Audio problems please post details of your setup in this thread: http://www.futeko.com/newforum/index.php?topic=793.0
Posting setup details might establish a pattern and shed some light on the problem.
