Hi everyone,
This is my first post on this forum as I only took delivery of my H8 octo yesterday. I got very excited setting it up last night and watching lots of TV but today is a different thing. I switched it on successfully when I got home, added the ***** repo and some video add-ons from there using the normal method. I tried one of the add-ons (can't remember which) and the box switched itself off but the blue LED remained on.
I tried the following:
- using the remote to switch the box off/on - nothing
- I pulled out the power and left it unplugged for nearly an hour, plugged it back in, the blue LED came on again but the box didn't boot
- I tried pulling the power again then holding the reset button whilst powering it back on - nothing but a blue LED
- I downloaded firmware 1.0.9, stuck it in the root of a usb pen and tried the boot up instructions from the website - nothing but a blue LED
I have tried a different HDMI cable and a different working port on my receiver. When I power on the H8 the receiver receives some sort of signal before quickly deciding there is no longer a signal there.
This leaves me stuck and at your mercy. Is there anything else I can do? or is this broken?
Thanks in advance for your help.

Me again
I left the box switched off night last night and tried it again this morning with the same results. I am trying the opposite today by leaving it switched on to see if it's stuck in a really slow loop but I doubt it.

Maybe try connecting it to the TV using the composite video port. It's unlikely, but it could be stuck in an HDMI mode your TV doesn't like.
Saying that, not accepting a firmware update is a bad sign.
If you got it from us then email us for RMA details.

Thanks for the reply. I did think of the composite cable but forgot to mention I hadn't tried it because I don't have one. I'll have a hunt and try as a last resort. I bought it from eBay and will get in touch with the as soon as I've tried the composite suggestion.

Well I tried the composite cable as well with the same unfortunate result. Seems properly broken to me :'(
