Title: Time jump / time skipping crash very often
Post by: HDMediaplayer on January 20, 2016, 03:16:32 PM
HIMEDIA H8 OCTA. 7-JAN-2016. FIRMWARE HMD-1.0.9 FUTEKO-EN (12-JAN-2016 RELEASE)

Configuration:
I use LAN and NFS-share with a Gigabit switch and a powerful Synology NAS.
I use a Full-HD Panasonic Plasma, no 4K TV.
H8 is connected via a modern Pioneer AV receiver to the Plasma by HDMI.
I made all tests with Kodi.
5.1 speaker configuration and pass-trough is enabled for all supported audio formats in Kodi.

Error:
If I make time jumps (Additive skipping (http://kodi.wiki/view/Skip_steps) in Kodi) per IR remote during replay, the video freezes or the movie starts from beginning.
This happens very, very often with 3D-ISOs and often with 2D-Full-HD-MKVs.
The bigger the time jump, the bigger the probability for freeze or restart.

I will report this to Himedia.

Thank you, futeko.

Supplement:
With the recommended settings
   libstagefright: DISABLED
   MediaCodec: DISABLED
   rockchipcodec: ENABLED
   rockchipcodec23976: ENABLED
it seems to be more worse than with the two first enabled (Kodi Default setting), so HiMedia should test it with the rockchipcodec's.

Also with newest FW the same.

I think the development of the H8 is over. It's one of the chinese crap machines. HiMedia is a dead cow for me..

There are still big annoying bugs (AV-asynch, 3D-ISO problems, youtube stutter, etc.) in the firmware which make it impossible to use the H8 octa as Media Player. I don't use the H8 anymore, I bought two RaspberryPi's and use LibreELEC.
