Title: New Media Player to replace old Mede8er Media Player
Post by: TartanMan on December 01, 2022, 07:53:58 PM
Hi there, looking for some help and advice if possible?. I’ve had an old Mede8er media player for around 10 years. Whilst it’s served me well over the years I’m looking for an upgrade due to it starting to fall to bits. I’m looking for a media player that will play all the latest audio and video files (especially MKV) but also 4k. I would be playing films and tv box sets stored on my Seagate 4tb portable hard drive through the media player and onto my tv via my av receiver. I don’t need internal storage, no need to be able to play music, ability to rip discs, internet/network streaming, etc. I just need a good quality, reliable media player myself or my kids can plug my portable hard drive into and away we go with my stored movies and box sets, ideally with upscaling to 4k if possible?.I don’t know what Zidoo model to go for so any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks.

Your best option is Zidoo Z9X. It comes ready for plug and play use with a nice interface, so easy to use for a family. It would be a case of plug the Seagate in, point Zidoo Home Theatre at it, and you'll be presented with thumbnails, synopsis, categories etc for everything on it.

The other option from what we sell would be UGOOS X4Q Pro. As supplied this will play everything you have, but from a basic file browser interface. For a flashier interface you'd need to either install an Android media management app or CoreELEC. CoreELEC is excellent and very simply to use once installed, but the installation process is a bit fiddly at the moment (this will improve when a version specifically for X4Q Pro is released).
