I'm on a quest to play iphone videos with Dolby Vision in BEST quality from my DuneHD Realvision 4k box (iphone 12/13 pro and promax videos..4k 60, Dolby Vision profile 8.4 (second layer, with HLG on first track/layer). The goal is to play these videos in full dolby vision quality (not first layer HLG or HLG->HDR10 like on a PC with HDR display)...I am really hoping that my new Dune Realvision 4k will be the solution! But..mixed success so far...
The good news is that yes, DuneHD does recognize the files have DV profile 8.4 :) That's more than can be said for almost every other player out there! However, after trying all sorts of permutations of settings and firmware version, I see the same result when I play an HDR (DV) video file from iphone 12 pro max: a flash of rich color quality in what is displayed at first, followed by the dolby vision badge from the TV (good) but then video with colors that look much more washed out and with a lower luminosity. Playing these files as HLG (from the first layer of the dual layer files) actually looks better with much higher brightness..but I KNOW that DV can look so much better than HLG from the flashes of saturated DV content I've seen and from single layer example video files I've played on the tv from the USB input. I've tried all sorts of permutations of 12 bit and 10 bit output, 4:2:2 and 4:2:0, local versus TV-led DV, DV engine on all vids vs only DV vids, internal vs system player, etc. etc. but to no avail. I've tried with firmwares r17 (latest stable), r17 (most recent 211224) and r20 alpha (211229). No difference observed between them. Anyone have any luck with this?

TV: 2021 Vizio P-series quantum x P65QX, supports Dolby Vision, HDR, HDR10+, HLG.
HDMI cable: the one provided in the DuneHD box (I'll be trying a certified 48Gbps 1M cable soon to see if that makes a difference)
