Venz V3 - 5-JAN-2016 - Firmware Update

Filename: OpenELEC-TLBB.V3b.arm-6.0.0.tar

No changelog. Just general fixes and improvements.

Update Instructions:

1. Download update .tar file to PC
2. Turn on V3 and connect to network.
3. Navigate to /Update folder on V3 using a network connected PC. See here for more info: http://wiki.openelec.tv/index.php/Updating_OpenELEC#Manually_Updating_OpenELEC
4. Copy .tar update file to /Update folder.
5. Reboot V3 using power button on back.
6. Update should automatically progress and you'll be rebooted into new firmware.

Hi there,

I followed instructions, transferred .tar into update folder, rebooted... white home screen. Pressed F9 and can get system settings and random screens but can no longer connect via SSH.

Have I destroyed the box?  What should I do.

I recommend having a look at the LibreELEC site and installing one of their generic S805 (chipset in Venz V3) builds.

 :'( But I can't access SSH or file manager, how would I install? I can access reset to default but I will lose all the data as I didn't back up. Would that even allow me to access the file manager or just spread the WSOD to all menus.

Thanks for this very useful suggestion.  I'm happy to report that my Venz V3 box is now running Kodi 17 (Krypton) under LibreElec 8.1.5.

I had to copy the remote.conf file from the original OpenElec build to get the remote to work (and some of the buttons still don't work) but it does seem to run very well in all other respects.

Hi All,
I have a Venz V3 box that has crashed when trying to update it to get Kodi 17 and now my home screen is blank.
I tried to install Libreelec 8 as per advice from a fellow member but the remote will not respond to complete the installation process. Does anyone have a working Remote.conf or able to assist in getting my box up and running again.
