Good morning
Since 2016 I have the Q5 Pro and the Q10 Pro, the technology makes progress but Himedia remained stopped both in Livelo of operating system (Andorid 7) and at hardware level.
I would like to replace these two multimedia boxes, with Zidoo Z9x, and I would like to ask questions to those who own them if the management is similar to the Himedia models.
1- It is possible to manage internal folders as Himedia via LAN network by activating the Samba function.

2- Install app via executable file (.apk) such as Kodi.
3- It is mandatory to use the Zidoo ZDMC version instead of Kodi, as ZDMC is not updated as Kodi.
Thank you

recently I upgraded from himedia q5pro to zidoo z9x. zidoo also same like himedia. you can use any hdd and same operation.

Thank you.
This reassures me a lot, so I can install any .apk file from the network, as I currently manage Himedia via LAN with the PC.
I am also passionate to the KODI interface if it can manage it without problems it is fantastic, then for reproduction (I assume like Himedia) there is the wrapper and the native Zidoo player will be enabled.

1. Storage shared by Samba on Zidoo looks like this (Linux Mint Nemo file browser):
The folder at the top (523A140...) is an attached HDD. All attached storage is listed as a folder in this format with UUID as label.
The 'Storage' folder is Zidoo internal storage.
2. You can install apk files from any location on Zidoo boxes.
3. Regular Kodi can be installed but it will not benefit from hardware decoding. To get full Zidoo hardware support you must use ZDMC, which is in effect the same as Kodi+wrapper for HiMedia boxes. Zidoo update ZDMC fairly regularly but it is slightly behind mainline Kodi release. Latest version of ZDMC is 18.9, find it here: https://www.mcbluna.net/wp/zidoo-applications/

Thanks for the info.
I thought you installed Kodi as an executable (.apk) could connect with the wrapper to use the native player.
I would prefer to install the versions (.apk) to not be linked to proprietary versions (ZDMC), or with a specific wrapper.

Kodi + wrapper was the way Himedia implemented it, but Zidoo have instead opted for their own fork of Kodi pre-packaged with support for Zidoo hardware. It uses a very similar method to HiMedia but is packaged differently.
As far as I know there is no way to install a wrapper like with the HiMedia boxes on Zidoo. The Zidoo media player app doesn't support being called that way.
Zidoo's media browser (Zidoo Home Theatre) is a million miles more sophisticated than HiMedia's media browser. It operates like a lite version of Kodi and for most users is superior to Kodi for local playback. This is why there isn't much talk about Kodi on the Zidoo forums.

The important thing that can continue to exploit the KODI interface with the skins to which they are very popular and that can transfer my database (addon and userdata folders) into Zidoo root

Thanks for the confirmation.
The important thing that ZDMC (Kodi for Zidoo) with the native Zidoo player works best at Himedia, especially with regards to color space and stuttering problems that detect with Himedia.
