Title: Announcement Z9X
Post by: Nice Monkey on July 15, 2020, 09:14:45 AM
Any plans to add Z9X? I do expect so frankly.

I am getting the strong impression that Z9X actually will be launched ahead of Zidoo X.
A due date and price should be coming very soon?

Z9X will be before Zidoo:X. I know not why.

Yes, we'll be selling it. We don't have an ETA yet.

My guess it is a try out as they always also do with new FW: Z9S first! Less risk taking with Zidoo X?

Now on their site officially too!
https://www.zidoo.tv/Product/index/model/Z9X/target/1vhOLOoLZ3NKKmVViAFMcQ%3D%3D.html
In fact it just looks like the original X9S!

Also the specifications for Z1000 PRO are out. It is a Z1000 with RTD1619DR, 32GB Flash and the V8 BT remote control! Nice upgrade  :D

No surprises just that Dolby Vision is mentioned everywhere without telling which practical applications are facilitated with it. But we will find out soon as it is clearly marketed in front of Zidoo X.
On this site it says late 2020 possibly september; but frankly I do expect it to be early august!

Oh yes you noticed also? The Zidoo X20 was removed from the product pages. Frankly expect the same to happen to X20 PRO soon too.

What's the difference between X9S and Z9S ? I see only VP9.2 support. There is no plan to support H.266 VVC.

Z10 PRO in a Z10 outer case ;)
Frankly I do like the previous cases of Z9S and Z10 more too. But it is matter of taste.

It seems Zidoo will be aggressive on price as the new models were stripped a bit.
- Z9X coming with just 1 SATA port
- Z9X and Z10 PRO coming both with a 12V 2A PSU now.
That will work using just 1 SATA HDD but it is the bare minimum. I would never use them like that and move to an earthed 12V 4A unit instead (like already doing with my Z9S). Connecting 2x SATA HDD to Z10 Pro with the standard PSU is asking for troubles in my view.

The difference between Z10 Pro and Z1000 Pro on the other hand just got bigger with a V8 BT Remote included now. This next to the now far better earthed internal PSU (12V 4A?), gorgeous case and internal antennas.
My choice would be easy.  ;)

@futeko.com
Both Z10 Pro and Z1000 Pro do have a fan for sure. Please update. :P

No. The new Zidoo players support all Dolby Vision profiles except 7 and 8.

Proper direct support, or support via the VS10 engine for conversion to generic HDR?

That would lead to a direct ban by multiple parties.

Maybe somebody can write illegal FW patches for it? I don't miss it personally, for me it is mostly hype.
The difference with properly implemented HDR10 and HDR10+ or DV are minimal from what I have seen.

Dolby Vision makes sense only for OLED owners. There are significant differences there compared to HDR.
Dolby Vision on a (Q)LED is a completely different (subpar) experience.

I noticed this box supports Dolby Vision low latency(LLDV)output I am wondering if this will work on my OLED C6 which doesnt support LLDV but does support Dolby Vision at 30FPS using built in apps.

I already bought the Z9x anyway because I need a 3D player can't wait ;D.

2 years ago i replaced my popcorn 500 for the Z10. Best media player by far. So now the Z9x for the second TV, since the GT King does not really compute all the UHD HDR stuff flying around :)

Hi, I read this box won’t support profile 7 DV.
Has anyone any idea how we will process our UHD BD for playback on this?
Thank you.

What do you mean? How to covert for DV playback?
Or how a DV UHD BD will be played back?

Title: Re: Announcement Z9X

Not really. The zidoo will playback a DV BD with just HDR10. As these are DV profile seven which is not supported.
You may convert profile 7 to a profile that is supported, like profile 5.
Title: Re: Announcement Z9X
Post by: DaMacFunkin on August 09, 2020, 07:44:09 AM
Hi, it is the same question, all you needed to say is that they will need to be converted to DV profile 5.
Not all DV UHD BD disks have HDR10+ and my TV doesn’t support HDR10+ so that answer isn’t relevant.
Some FEL titles when converted from profile 7 to profile 5 are not showing accurate colours on other machines currently on the market, also no one is quite sure what is ‘thrown away’ when doing this conversion - if the Zidoo can do this correctly  I may buy one, at the moment the Oppo clone is King for DV.

Hi.
A question about DV Playback.
Will a Dolby Vision MP4 Remux work with Zidoo Z9X or does that files also have a DV 7 profile?

Cheers Ben

Hi all,

I've pre-ordered a Z9X :) to upgrade my 2014 Himedia Q5 (also bought from Futeko).
I held off for a while hearing about the upcoming Z9X.

Can I ask some advice about Dolby Vision / Profile restrictions, sorry if it's a dumb question:
I use my media player for easy selection and playback of all my BluRays by the family and love the video wall presentation rather than manually looking through the discs. Therefore, I rip and play the movies via the media player (the Himedia Q5 handles these happily inc. Atmos & DTS-X via it's internal Player).

I plan to do the same with the Z9X for UHD discs.

Seeing the comments about DV Profiles 7 & 8 not being supported, I read that means the dual layer 100Gb UHD discs? how should I extract/play those. I play via a Denon X7200 Amp to a UHD TV with no DV Support so does that mean compressing to 25Gb or 50Gb will work? Can I extract the movie only with just base HDR base layer? I use DVDFab to date and has been perfect for my standard HD BluRay disc collection but not sure if that's the same for UHD discs and the Z9x?

Steve.

At this stage, when we do not have a Z9X to test with, the best place to ask any technical questions about what is and isn't possible is the Zidoo forum. A few users there have been sent Z9X early (kind of as beta testers) and can provide more accurate answers.

I’ve pre-ordered with you anyway so happy to go ahead and was just asking the forum in case anyone knew.

Looking forward to it regardless.

Hi, if your TV doesn’t support DV you don’t need to worry about DV profiles, the player will just play HDR10, you are getting confused between double and triple layer discs and Enhancement Layers.

Thanks DaMacFunkin,

You’re probably right, I’ve not really got my head round these profiles etc.

My TV Is 4K HDR capable but doesn’t support Dolby Vision. My Projector is only 1080P! I use a Denon X7200Wa Amp and pass through to my display devices.

Ultimately, I just want to rip my discs to a movie only file (.iso or .mkv) and play via the media player for the family to have a simple movie selection tool.
Works fine for my DVD & BluRay collection on my Himedia Q5, now wanting to move to UHD discs (and talk SWMBO into a faux 4K PJ  ::)). I have one UHD disc to test so I guess I’ll just give the process a try when the Z9X arrives later this week ;-)

Happy to take any advice, for now I need to migrate my movies to the new player so have plenty to keep me busy when it arrives  ;D

Steve.

Just rip them to MKV with latest make mkv, they will playback on this player fine in HDR10.

memory is not expandable, but it is not a limit?
Why not inserted an SD Card slot.
An SD-Card slot uses the same internal SOC resources as USB ports do. So for adding a SD-card slot an USB port must be dropped. Adding a USB CD-Card dongle will provide the same feature so is more flexible overall.  Dune went for the CD-Card slot with one USB port dropped.

So is the USB port suitable as an internal memory expansion?
I could buy such an adapter if it works as a memory expansion.
