Can the unit upscale video from 420 etc

Not 100% sure what you mean.

Yes it will upscale resolution. i.e. 420p to 1080p.

Yes it will remap colorpspace, so take 4:2:0 video and output it at 4:4:4 if that's what you've got set for HDMI output in Zidoo settings.
