Hello;
I am new in this Forum and I purchase a H8 few weeks ago. It is a great machine, I am happy with this product. Still have some small issues as some other users informed, but so far H8 it is the best machine using the chipset RK3368 by a long distance. I have other 2 products using RK3368 that are rubish mainly due to so many firmware bugs, and this is not the case for Himedia H8.
I would like to install apk files directly inside H8, without using google Play store, is it possible? How to do?
Thanks in advance for any help ;D

It depends on what you mean by not using Play Store.
You can install any apk by installing a file explorer app on H8 (e.g. ES File Explorer) and simply navigating the the .apk file and selecting it. Using this method you can install apps not available in Play Store.
If you mean at a lower level then it is no doubt possible to root the H8 and install apks after hacking into the box using SSH. I have no idea how to do this though.!

Many thanks for your quick reply.
I am currently in a country for a few weeks that the Google Play store is banned (blocked) and using a VPN method, for example, to access the Play store, it is complicated... But possible
I understood from your post that firstly the only way to install apks directly, I must install File explorer from the Play store first, and later can install apks directly. If I am wrong, let me know!

You can do it directly via the media browser, just select your external usb stick..

I usually install APK's from dropbox.
I upload them there(to dropbox, in a folder)....just tap on them to install, no need to export to the device.
Useful for lots of re-installs on the fly.
