And as I've noticed, no more that annoying "Press OK..." pop-up appears when you quit playback from Wrapper. Could be a coincidence, but it didn't appear the last few times I've used it with Wrapper.

It's not an improvement, since this pop-up is meant to mark the file as read - and so without it, you have to manually right click and pick "mark as watched". This is one of the downsides of using an external wrapper rather than the built in player.

That's quite OK for me. I don't watch too many long series to be concerned. I agree it could be annoying, but I'm more happy with the result of having the pop-up gone. Maybe there's an in-between solution that could work for both, but it's up to someone to mention it on the KODI Forums for the developers.

This has nothing to do with Kodi development and everything to do with Himedia wrapper integration. Himedia should take care of it.

Post by: Mount81 on October 11, 2019, 09:02:19 AM
That's the problem of how KODI handles external players and it has changed recently and the result is what you're complaining about. I guess the Wrapper would have to be integrated in KODI itself to produce the result you need, or to make KODI to adapt as before, otherwise that would be impossible. The first is unlikely to happen, so the later is the only viable way as I see. I guess you're asking HiMedia this time to do the impossible. The problem is and the only way around is how to make KODI detect if the external Player has stopped without that annoying confirmation pop-up. And that is a KODI only problem, and HiMedia isn't a KODI developer.

There's also an alternative Wrapper (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=hu.xmister.xbmcwrapper&hl=en_US) around, I didn't tried, but I guess it still wouldn't solve this issue.

Hello EVERYONE, i had the same experience with Kodi crashing everytime ! What worked for me was a CLEAN install of Priscti custom firmware 2.1.4 with the reset button on the back and with updating KODI to 18.4 and using a different SKIN named: https://kodi.tv/addon/skins/aeon-tajo
After all these steps KODI is working TOP NOTCH 100% with the WRAPPER and has not CRASHED anymore !
Hope this will help you ? Let me know if this also worked for you ?
And one more thing, after installation of the custom firmware i deleted all the apps i don't use like MIRACAST and NETFLIX (i use the NetFlix Xbox One X App for Atmos sound) and HAPPYCASt etc. etc. i like to keep the system as clean as possible !

Personally, I found that 18.2 works better than 18.4. It might be an incompatibility issue, but 18.4 definitely crashes more (for me) than 18.2 does.

Strike that. It still crashes about the same, and so does 18.5  :'(

Title: Re: New versions of Kodi

No.
HiMedia Q Pro Series is not a box will get special code on Kodi source.
If need supports atmos go to Nvidia Shield TV(2015/2017) or others model for which Kodi developer put special "if" on Kodi source.
As I see on Kodi forum IEC61937 is not a rely use standard on Android box, but Kodi developer persist on to be use it.

@MusiCManiaC;  Do your receiver can play Atmos? Then you can use Passthrough in Kodi and play Atmos on the Q10 Pro.

Media Center has always provided full audio passthrough, including Dolby TrueHD Atmos and DTS-HD MA/ DTS-X with all firmware updates.
Therefore all versions of Kodi can be used with the "wrapper" setting to enable the "external player" to be used to ensure audio passthrough.  This is nothing new and the system works well  :).

Hi there

As a new user of KODI, I failed to config KODI in my Q10 pro to passthrough Dolby TrueHD Atmos and DTS-HD MA/ DTS-X to my AVR, which worked well when using native player (video player).
All movies played in KODI only stream out Stereo.

Can anybody help on this ? Really appreciate.

Firmware : HMD-2.1.4
KIDO       : 17.6

You have to use himedia player indirectly with the wrapper app:
Exit kodi
Open the wrapper app and Set to Wrapper player
In settings set audio to raw
Open kodi, now when you start a video himedia player will play it and you should have pass-through.

Thanks.
It's strange that my Q10 pro has no wrapper installed initially. I have downloaded from forum and wrapper is invoked in Kodi.
While new issues arose.
All NFS / SMB /FTP are setup in Kodi to access my movies stored on WD cloud mirror.
When playing through SMB in Kodi, wrapper is up but it shuttered badly.
When playing through FTP in Kodi, wrapper is unable to be invoked.
When playing through NFS in Kodi, wrapper is up but it's hanging with displaying a black screen.
I also try to use Mediacenter.
To play via "NFS" seems smooth.
To play via "LAN" (SMB ??) shuttered too.

Currently the box is connected with 5G-wifi and I will try to use a cable to connected with LAN. Don't know if this could fix shutter problem using SMB.

I am wondering if anyone could help on the issue of " wrapper fail to play via NFS " ?

Did you apply a factory reset on the box? I sujest you reinstall the firmware with the upgrade button method.

1. Extract update.zip (using an unzip program like 7zip, winzip etc) from the downloaded zip archive to the root of a FAT32 formatted USB pen drive. (the USB pen drive should contain a single file called 'update.zip'). Note, there is no need to rename anything!
2. Insert the USB pen drive into any USB port of Q10 Pro.
3. With Q10 Pro turned off, use a paper clip or pen to press and hold the the pinhole UPGRADE button on the back of Q10 Pro (next to the power port).
4. While keeping the UPGRADE button pressed, turn on the Q10 Pro.
5. Q10 Pro will showthe Android 7 coloured circle logo.
6. When you see the circle logo you can release the restore button.
7. A progress bar will indicate update progress. Do not turn box off or use the box/remote during update!
8. When update is complete the box will automatically reboot.
9. First boot will take 3-5 minutes. The box will reboot into new firmware. Allow boot to complete.

Restoring and backup Kodi settings
(alternative procedure fast method)

This procedure is used both for the firmware update or when installing a new version of Kodi, in order not to lose all the settings, custom settings and everything else.

Requirements:
A- Sufficient space in the internal memory or use of an SD card.

B- The procedure is managed by PC, for which the LAN is used (SAMBA mode activated on HiMedia).

C- Activate the display of hidden files.
Control panel> File Explorer options> View> Show hidden folders, files and drives> Apply

Procedure summary:
The Kodi folders relating to all the personalized settings and settings are temporarily transferred, using the cut and paste method (for this reason it is a fast method), in a "Service folder", that must be created.
When the update has been carried out or the new version of Kodi has been installed, the reverse operation must be carried out.
With the cut and paste method, we take the folders stored in the "Service folder" to copy them to the Kodi installation path.
Operation that ends very quickly.

Details of the procedure:
1- Go to the path "\share\sdcard\" create a folder with name, example "Service folder".

2- Go to the path:
         "\share\sdcard\Android\data\org.xbmc.kodi\files\.kodi"
and with the right mouse button select "Cut" on the "addons" and "userdata".

3- Return to the folder previously created "Service folder" and with the right mouse button select "Paste"

4- Perform the firmware or Kodi update.

5- Launch Kodi and give the data consent and then exit.

6- Carry out the reverse operation, return to the "Service folder" with the right mouse button, select
"Cut" on the "addons" and "userdata" folders.

7- Go back to the Kodi path: "\share\sdcard\Android\data\org.xbmc.kodi\files\.kodi"
and with the right mouse button select "Paste".

8- Let's go back to the HiMedia main menu and select the "QuickClean" app and restart the box.

9- Launch Kodi and have fun.

If, on the other hand, we wish to backup the "addons" and "userdata" folders, it is better to use the Teracopy tool. This procedure takes time equal to the size of the files, as it must transfer the metadata.

Matrix 19.0-Final is plan to be release it on February 14, 2021 (https://github.com/xbmc/xbmc/milestone/140).
Kodi 19-RC(Beta 2/1) maybe need set Android volume to maxim(15) before open Kodi to avoid getting only noise when passthrough is enable and use Kodi VideoPlayer.
Small helper for all ATV/Lite/CS-AK/CFW which set volume to maxim when Kodi is open and restore to previous value when is exit.
Download helper (https://www.mediafire.com/?lbg2r0m80rugrlj) rename to update.zip and apply from menu.
Note: Don't try with OFW will not do anything on that.

I have basically given up hope of ever getting passthrough to work.

I DO APOLOGIZE THAT I PLACED MY STORY IN ANOTHER TOPIC AT THIS FORUM (Himedia Q series cannot handle AAC 6.1 and up?). I would like to share it here!
Dear all. I also bumped into the problem from AAC AC3 DTS 5.1, 6.1 and 7.1 formats with the coaxial or optical output from the Q10 Pro (2016 model) to my receiver. Although last week it suddenly did work, but since I tried to update the Kodi player I've lost the desired AC3 DTS (5.1) output. I've tried Kodi 18.2, 18.7 and 18.9 versions. There is a newer 19.0 version, but there is no official update for that. Also with the internal player no AC3 DTS output with the AAC video content. I have been fiddling around with the wrapper player setting as well the other audio settings from my Q10 Pro. I would like to know how to get it back again please. On my Windows 10 pro pc everything works fine with the desired outputs, but not with the HiMedia Q10 pro.

I'm thinking about the latest Kodi 19.0 to install which I've noticed from "Pcristi" at this forum, but I don't know how to install that without losing everything. If I use the "reset paperclip" option I will loose the latest CFW 2.1.7 update. Usually there are "Kodi" updates at the Google Play Store, but these are the older versions. Pcristi mentioned in his comment (23 January 2021) for Kodi 19.0 "which set volume to maximum when Kodi is open and restore to previous value when exit". That's the same situation as I experienced, but gave me AAC AC3 / DTS (5.1 / 6.1) output. My request is, how to install Kodi 19.0 the most simple way please?

01-03-2021 UPDATE! PROBLEM SOLVED BY ENABLE ALL THE AUDIO "PASSTHROUGH'" OPTIONS IN KODI 19.0 MATRIX. THIS WORKS WITH SPDIF COAXIAL AND OPTICAL CONNECTION TO RECEIVER WITHOUT HDMI! ! !

Thank you very much "HerelsTom". Yes I have noticed the problems. If I knew, I just kept the Kodi 18.9 and enable the "Passthrough" settings in the audio option menu. Now I do have AAC AC3 (5.1 & 6.1) and DTS with a SPDIF coax or optical cable to my non HDMI receiver. I'm happy, it works........

Kodi 19.0 has created issues for all Android users with HDD's, SD cards, USB flash drives.
It not only gives them generic Android/Linux OS names sdda2, sddb1 etc but also, it duplicates each entry in the library, so that it appears two identical devices are attached.  It even scans each "drive" separately for updates, doubling the time taken (not ideal when 8Tb drives are re-attached and it no longer recognises the drive's name and has to re-scan twice).

Not sure how this major Android issue passed beta testing, but it was released this way!
Kodi forum has advised there are no active Android programmers, so it may take a while for a fix to be released........

N.B. I was under the impression I had turned off Kodi auto-updates, but found out that this was not the case  >:(

19.1: It's not in the play store for the Q10 for good reason. It breaks almost everything.

Not recommended for anyone on 18.9 and content. The upgrade causes all sorts of problems and removes a lot of the add ons you like. Whatever you do - TURN OFF AUTOMATIC UPDATES!

Only for a clean load, and even then, it's still flawed.

Kodi 19 has been nothing but an utter shambles. The devs fecked up really badly with 19. I would wait for 20.0...

I have somehow allowed Kodi to update itself to 19.1.  This has fixed the internal and external HDD names and removed the duplication of drives  ;D

It does then need to completely re-scrape all movies but does appear to retain the watched tick.
I am glad I waited for it to get fixed, rather than go back and start again (due to the complexity of my library across multiple drives and NAS').

No, it actually kept all my NAS movie and TV library unchanged, it was only the HDD's that required re-scanning of content.  It therefore was not the skin setting.  As soon as 19.1 ran, the content all showed up as the filenames, with no metadata.  It more likely had something to do with the generic drive names like sba2 (that became duplicated in the Kodi library) shown in 19.0 that reverted back to the allocated drive names in 19.1.
