Title: External Hard drive
Post by: Charles01 on April 17, 2019, 07:01:38 PM
Hi I know you said I can go higher than 8TB  @ the moment I have a 4TB in my Egreat A8 I was thinking of getting a external 4Tb hard drive Something like this  https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B017KE8OG0/?coliid=I1W6D6BLKHA6BZ&colid=1R0IYA45R6XG9&psc=1&ref_=lv_ov_lig_dp_it would this be OK for my A8 USB socket  as it is cheaper than getting a internal one Thanks P. S. At the moment i am filling my 4TB internal Drive with films but to get it to work OK I had to use a main unit via a socket then on to a usb socket to my PC would I have to use the same sort of thing with the Amozon one?

With larger USB drives it's better if they have their own power supply. So either a powered drive or a powered USB hub between A8 and HDD.

USB3 2.5 inch drives should work also. On an USB2 port power is 500mA but USB3 is 800mA which should give enough headroom.
Using a 4Tb myself with no power problems (A10 and A11).
