Can I  Format a WD SATA HD in the Hi Media Q10 by connecting a usb lead to my Mac book pro? Or do I need a windows laptop?

The HDD needs to be formatted with GPT partition table type and NTFS / EXT filesystem.

I have no direct experience with Macs but I believe it is possible using third party software. It's possible using the standard HDD format utility in Windows.

A good explanation of a foolproof method is here: https://www.futeko.com/newforum/index.php?topic=932.0
