Can anyone running 2.11 (official or custom), confirm whether this is still working, please? I know it worked on earlier firmware.
I have tried several cards and USB and the process gets to 40% then fails every time. Trying to reformat the devices in the Q10 results in corruption.
ALL of them can be inserted into a different Android device and reformatted correctly, so I am confident that the problem is not with the cards/USB.
Thank you.

Anyone?

You are right Sir...I just checked my Himedia Q10 Pro Android box....It is is not listed on the Media Center..Checked it on my laptop, got a message that SD card is corrupted, fixed it then inserted it back in the box, the same issue remains ( Unidentified by the android box) ..hope we get a solution soon...I recommend that you go back to an older release if you need the SD card badly...Thank you for the info.

Thank you camelized. :)

@Futeko...
Any input, please?

Do you mean the SD Card slot on the side of the box? If so, I would guess that very few people use it. Why do you need it?
I've just found an old 16Gb Sandisk MicroSD Card from an old mobile phone and stuck it into an adaptor and then into the Q10 slot.
No problems! The card appears in Media Center (as EXTERNAL storage as drive E:) and I can play any of the music files on the card.
Thats not the same.
There is an option to format the card so that it becomes part of the internal storage and remains in the slot. This used to work. Now it doesn't.

It has been reported to HiMedia, who say they will investigate. However, nothing will happen now until after 10th Feb because it is Chinese New Year and all of China is on holiday.

Thank you :)

The side mounted SD card slot is a huge advantage over another similar 'box' that uses a MicroSD card with their access slot at the bottom of the rear panel which (on both counts) makes it unnecessary hard to find and insert or remove. Between that microscopic paper thin card and it's location, one would be pressed to make it any harder to use.
As far as use, it can expand internal storage.
Good post SSThing, this saves others from a hassle. ;)

Has this problem been rectified yet?

Any news Futeko?
Cheers

Still interested in a solution.

Continued interest.

The facility to format SD-Cards and USB sticks is an integral part of the Android OS and should have been integrated into it with its build. For Android 6 and above it is available in principle but often I see it omitted in media players. Look for it in Android setup under storage/memory. It probably is up to HiSilicon and not Himedia to enable it or not as it is integral part of the SDK.
Once added as internal storage the card may NEVER be removed again as an OS does not like it when part of its PERMANENT memory gets ripped out. So a hidden micro card is a lot better here than a front full size SD-card.
-
The issue is that it did work previously but doesn't now. The options are still available in settings but the format fails and the cards are then unusable.

Still wondering if there is any news?

Default storage equipment is not good option for your's need?
