Post by: 70 runner on January 01, 2019, 08:55:33 PM
Currently at android 7 operating system  . Latest official firmware ( 2.11 )   and trying to install custom firmware ( 2.11  )  to resolve dolby digital 5.1 audio issues using kodi however custom firmware will not install over the official firmware . Have already renamed the custom firmware to update.zip with no luck . Any help or assistance would be appreciated .

Custom firmware definitely does install over official 2.1.1 so the problem must be in how the USB stick has been prepared.

Stick should be FAT32 and for the custom firmware the .zip should be renamed to update.zip.

Can you install any other firmware? i.e. official 2.1.0?

Yes rename in update.zip and nothing ...... then try with 2.1.0 and same thing!
I tried with 3 different keys in fat32 and the maj do not take!

Make sure in Windows that 'Hide extensions for known file types' is disabled and then download the file again and change the name as per intructions. See screenshot below for windows 7...google for same thing for windows 10 if you cannot find yourself in windows 10...VERY important to format FAT32 but disable the quick format option before formatting. See attachments for example. Good luck.

I think you may be correct. It's a Windows quirk that extensions are hidden and difficult to manipulate.
