Preinstall Wrapper?
No Wrapper (in Kodi) here after clean install Q5 4K3D. 5-NOV-2015. FIRMWARE HMD-3.0.2 FUTEKO-EN.
Only kodi internal player. No " play using" option.
In apps is listed.
But in "sdcard/Android/data/org.xbmc.kodi/files/.kodi/userdata/", no playercorefactory.xml file.
-
Why? For me it's the first time I see a firmware which can't be downgraded.
Maybe a new SDK, which usually means no downgrading as kernel gets updated too.
Preinstall Wrapper?
What HiMedia means is that the wrapper APK (app) has been preinstalled. You still need to run Kodi once, exit out, then open the wrapper app to apply HiMedia's custom playercorefactory.xml.
-
Done.
Thank you, hdmkv. :)
-
I've been talking to Himedia about why they've stated that this firmware cannot be downgraded, and in fact it CAN be downgraded just like previous firmwares.
I think something got lost in translation. What they meant to say is that this firmware has OTA updates enabled so they don't want you to downgrade so you receive future updates.

1. Not supported by us, it will invalidate warranty, and we don't recommend it, but.. http://www.futeko.com/newforum/index.php?topic=203.msg1417#msg1417
2. If you move the mouse cursor to the bottom of the screen it automatically pops up.
3. Not that I know of. Why do you want another kernel?

3. How can i custom this kernel? (voltage, sound, performance...?_)
Yes, it's navigation bar not status bar. Himedia have called it status bar in their changelog, probably a translation problem.
I don't know how to customise the kernel, sorry.

Where can i find the option to turn off subtitle permanently?
-
Two bugs remains in this firmware:
1. Decoding surround AAC to surround LPCM, still outputs only stereo PCM
2. Himediaplayer doesn't load external subtitles for DLNA/upnp source. Kodi works fine for same source (DVDplayer, not wrapper client).
-
Where can i find the option to turn off subtitle permanently?
If you play a movie with subtitles then go menu - subtitle options - subtitle switching - subtitle:close, it should keep that setting.

After installing firmware 3.0.2 press TV MODE button on remote. This should cause the Q5 to auto-detect best mode for your TV.
We've had a few customers report similar problems with new boxes and 3.0.2 firmware. It seems 3.0.2 likes to default to 1080p 60Hz on first boot whereas earlier firmware defaulted to 720p. If your TV doesn't like 1080p 60Hz you'll get a mode not supported or similar message from the TV.
Pressing TV MODE button on remote fixes things.
We have reported this to Himedia so it can be improved in future firmware.

Hello good people,
I seem to be having a problem doing the update via usb. Ive installed the update file onto a usb stick and plugged it into
the Q5 and then with a hairpin ive pushed and held down the restore button. Ive then turned on the player and the message
comes up that its updating and then it says erasing. how long am i supposed to hold the pin in for? because even after ive held it
in for a while then let go the player boots up but when i check the firmware version on the settings screen it still shows 3.0.1
Im sorry if i sound stupid not sure what im doing wrong, any help would be much appreciated because i really like the picture that
this player gives.
Thanks again , sorry if i reply late as well.

Sounds like the box isn't recognising an update file as being present. If it says 'erasing' you're doing a factory reset not an update.
A common mistake is to rename the update package (the file you download from our forum). Nothing should be renamed, the update package on our site is an archive with the update.zip file inside of it. You need to use an unzip app like 7zip or Winzip to extract the update.zip file to the USB stick. We do it like this to prevent any attempt to install corrupted update.zip files.
Other than that, the USB stick needs to be formatted as FAT32 format.
-
Thanks for the reply I think the usb stick wasnt exfat format so ill try again later
hopefully this will work
thanks again :)
-
whoops i meant fat32 format :-\

..
Please don't post the same thing in multiple threads. You don't own a Q5 so no idea why you thought posting it here (as well as in Q10 thread and two new threads) was a good idea.
-
If I install 3.0.2 firmware...can I downgrade it to a previous release if I want?

Yes. No problem downgrading at all.

Have you tried our 'get rid of bar' update from the FAQ?: http://www.futeko.com/newforum/index.php?topic=56.0 http://www.mediafire.com/download/c4gb03d2p3suc67/update.zip
It may be different to the pcristi version and may work better for you.
-
Yeah just tried that now. Same thing update failed.
I had to rename the update file to update.zip. as when it was named just update the box didn't see the file on the usb stick.
I'm using the local update from the settings menu in the software is that right?

Yes that's the correct method.
The file when downloaded from our FAQ link should be called 'update.zip'. It doesn't need renaming. It definitely works, I just tested it on Q5 with 3.0.2 firmware.
Are you sure you have 3.0.2 firmware? Where did you get the box from? Us?
If all else fails I would try reinstalling 3.0.2 firmware using reset button method and then immediately doing the update to remove bar.

The box is from amazon Amazon prime UK.
ill redownload and try again
I'm using a iMac to download the file, but that shouldn't matter should it

I think the problem is something to do with the file extension (.zip) being mangled by your Mac. I'm not very familiar with Macs but if the OS tries to identify the file and assign it the extension it thinks it should have then this might confuse the Q5.
An alternative would be to download the update.zip file on the Q5.
Oh, and please buy from us next time! :'(
-
I tried to download the file to the q5. But after downloading it they is no way to flats it to the box

Install 'ES File Explorer' from Play Store.
Use it to copy the update.zip file from download folder ('Download' in left nav bar) to USB stick.
Then go Settings - Upgrade - Local Upgrade from main Q5 menu.

is it me but iv'e had more problems since installing this new firmware mainly with kodi /wrapper wrapper keeps stoping and some times load kodi from app and the things says waiting for external storage im going to down grade to the last firmware to if that makes a difference .
