Title: Using a SSD rather than a HDD
Post by: dortmunder on September 27, 2018, 11:33:24 AM
Hi.  Will a SSD fit into the bay (which is designed for a HDD)?
Are there any particular problems with using a SSD in this way?
Thanks.

No problem except price. I prefer using a 2.5 inch HDD instead as it is very silent and low heat too. Either one can be used easily using a 3.5 inch converter (case looking like exactly an 3.5 inch drive).
ICY BOX IB-2535 series is a good example.

Thanks, that's helpful.

For data storage and for video playback there's no benefit from the faster speeds of the SSD's over HDD's. Maybe for very high bandwidth Torrent download, but I guess the Q10 Pro's max Ethernet bandwidth capability will be the first short cross section.
